They added the truly great Dead or Alive games, that's what I've been waiting for. Also cool to see Ridge Racer 6, probably the last good entry in the series.

The Xbox Series X, like PS5, benefited in large part from cross-gen releases but the new hardware plays the games so much better than last gen that, being objective, I think it makes Series X the best overall launch day and launch year of any Xbox console. 360 is high up there as well though. Project Gotham Racing 3 was a standout, Call of Duty 2, Quake 4 and Perfect Dark Zero had FPS fans covered, Condemned is one of the greatest horror/action games ever made, Kameo was a solid platforming adventure and for us sports fans there was NBA 2K6. One of the best consoles (still my favorite Xbox) ever and it started with a tremendously good lineup.

I wouldn't say the original Xbox had the best lineup but as a fan of the older Dead or Alive games, DoA 3 was a great companion to one of the best and most influential launch games in history, Halo: Combat Evolved. Xbox One launch was meh, but I felt last gen as a whole didn't really pick up until 2016.

Will probably be the first game I get when I'm finally able to find a Series X in stores.

Looks way better than Halo 5 but I won't be playing it for a while unless I can hunt down a Series X. I have an Xbox One but I feel like a game in one of the Xbox brand's biggest IP is best experienced on the flagship hardware.

Awesome game, might be my favorite in the series, but 'best game of all-time' is quite a stretch.

Had the game since launch but still haven't started it. I should probably get on that.

The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay is the game that actually made me go out and finally buy an original Xbox and needless to say, I didn't regret that decision one bit. Better than the movies (and I did enjoy those) and one of the best action games in general, licensed tie in or not. Wish that team would get together and make another Riddick game again someday.

6 months of exclusivity, maybe slightly more, is my guess.

Not really interested in either, tbh, which is why I'm hoping Halo: Infinite will be a return to form for the franchise, otherwise no FPS for me this year.

Agree. Frankly I don't want to see any of Sony, MS or Nintendo make another purchase similar to the Bethesda one. Smaller-mid size studios with close ties to a company like Sony and Insomniac and MS and Playground Games I'm ok with as long as it makes sense for both sides.

It's little things like this that may not seem like a big deal when they happen but will add up over time. Whoever is calling the shots at the PlayStation division needs to start re-thinking some of these decisions.

I've been tempted to get a Series S because it's more readily available than the Series X has been near where I live. But, I also want to give myself as many options to play games as possible and I still prefer physical to digital, so I'm trying to hold out until MS can get more Series X out there on shelves.

Only one I've played is 2020. Pretty good overall. Some of the events are tedious but I love the tennis and beach volleyball.

Certainly a possibility I'd hope Sega would consider. Yagami is a cool character but not irreplaceable.

This game looks awesome. Been a while since I've played a Tales of game, though I did buy Berseria very cheap in a PS+ sale a couple years ago. Probably should give the game a try at some point.

It's a feature I wouldn't buy a system for but it's an excellent bonus that adds value to the Series X.

The battle for Nintendo's table scraps in Japan might be about to get interesting. Since the PS2 era ended, PlayStation sales have been far from stellar over there.

Don't care if it doesn't come out until 2024. This is likely the last chance for Perfect Dark, if this one isn't a hit, MS most likely leaves the series behind for good. Has to be a home run, and I hope it is. I was one of the few who actually enjoyed PD Zero (campaign and multiplayer) and have wanted to see the IP return for a long time. Can wait a little while longer if that's what the devs need.

Getting it day one. Would love to see MS do something with the Banjo franchise like @blinx01 mentioned. More of these types of games the better, don't care which console I have to buy to play them on.

Sonic Generations. Probably the best Sonic game since the 90s. Although Mania is pretty awesome too.

Unless Kojima is involved, I don't think I want to see an MGS remake.

I was working for Gamestop back when this game came out and I borrowed a used copy for a few days. Never ended up buying it but I really enjoyed my time with it. One of the better Sonic games of that era, almost as good as Generations.

No problem. I have them for Xbox One. Can't wait to see what they look like when I'm able to upgrade to a Series X (hoping the local Gamestop gets some in store soon).

Good thing Xbox has backwards compatibility worth a damn and you can buy Black and the 360 version of NG 2 and skip this collection.

A solid B because it had lots of good games. I'm not sure a 3-hour presentation is what they should be going with in the future, though.

Resident Evil is my favorite series of all-time but Yakuza is a close second and I'd argue it's been the most consistent series of games in recent years. Hell even the Judgment spinoff is a great game. What I love about it is RGG understands what video games are all about and this series is a love letter to the hobby. I've felt that way since I played the first Yakuza back on PS2 in 2006.

Playing through RE 2 on the N64 is my favorite memory. It was my first RE game and I just loved everything about it. The setting, story and characters all clicked with me and while I didn't love the tank controls I did love that the game forced you to be very strategic with how you went about using your ammo. Some fun puzzle solving in there as well. From RE 2 on the series had me hooked, it's in my top 3 with Yakuza and Super Mario as my favorites of all-time. I bought a Gamecube mainly because of the deal Nintendo had with Capcom where it was getting REmake, 0 and 4.

Needlessly complicated on PS5, Sony needs to sort that crap out. Has to be annoying for the devs/publishers of third party games too, they end up being the ones who have to explain all this stuff.

PS5 - Yakuza: Like a Dragon

Seems like just yesterday. Echoing what others have already posted, it's great to have this website back.

It'd be idiotic if it's not exclusive to Xbox.

Day one buy on all systems it releases on. I have confidence Dotemu will be the ones to finally get TMNT right for the first time since the 16-bit era.

The impressive part is out-selling the Switch. Yes, it's four years old but it's still been selling extremely well and it's not as supply constrained as the other two.

ESPN NFL 2K5. Still easily one of the greatest sports games ever made.

Hopefully not Switch or PlayStation. An 'Xbox VR' with this as the flagship launch title would be cool...

I've always believed in exclusives. I never would've bought into the Xbox ecosystem if I could've bought games like Halo, Project Gotham Racing and Top Spin Tennis on Gamecube.

Getting it day one but for PS5.

I'd have to wait and see. If it was as well done as SNES Classic and Genesis Mini, I'd certainly give it strong consideration but MS also has the best backwards compatibility program that includes games going back to the OG Xbox so a lot would depend on price.

It's my favorite superhero universe as well but aside from the NES game and the Arkham trilogy never been too impressed with Batman video games and this one definitely seems middle of the road. Add a mediocre writer and I'm just not seeing anything here to be hyped about. Only positive I could think of is they're at least focusing on other Batman characters but I'd have preferred a solo Batgirl adventure from the Arkham team.

I like all these games a lot, even Shadow which I think is a bit underrated. Looking forward to seeing where they go next as supposedly we'll finally be past Lara 'becoming the Tomb Raider.'

Should keep it exclusive and PS fanboys who are upset will just have to do what Xbox fans did with Spider-Man, either get over the fact it's exclusive and drop the money for a new piece of plastic to play the game or don't and move on. The 'put this on PlayStation' stuff is beyond annoying now though. Other brands besides PlayStation are allowed to have exclusives.

I have friends who'd argue differently but to me, it feels like you have less control in a turn-based game than more.

Looking forward to playing it when the PS5 version launches. Only thing I'm concerned about is the turn-based gameplay. I'm going to give it a try because I love this series but turn-based games have never really clicked with me. Only games with a turn-based system that I really enjoyed were Dragon Quest XI S and Lara Croft Go.

It's close between 1 and 3 but I'll go with the latter. I liked the story a little better and the gameplay was much more refined.

Not my kind of game but I'm not a fan of how Sony and MS have doubled down on censorship and it's only Japanese games. At this point I'd like to see devs such as Vanillaware, a studio that makes games I do enjoy, and others that make niche titles shift focus to Switch. Considering what things were like when I was a kid, it's crazy that Nintendo is nowthe least strict when it comes to censorship.

Haven't played a ton of Xbox games this year, but of the ones I did I'd put Streets of Rage 4 at the top. Despite the 26-year wait it delivered exactly what I wanted.
