As a surprise announcement during Xbox's Tokyo Game Show stream, it was revealed Scarlet Nexus is coming to the service and will be available later today on Xbox, PC and Cloud (with touch controls!).
Releasing back in June, the stylish RPG has already made its way to Xbox Game Pass members, bringing fast-paced action and emotional character moments. Featuring a dual story, you'll be able to play as either Yuito or Kasane, as you progress through numerous chapters, hacking and slashing your way through enemies in ferocious combat.
Featuring a dual story, begin your adventure with either Yuito Sumeragi, an energetic recruit from a prestigious political family or Kasane Randall, the mysterious scout whose power and skill has gained great notoriety among the OSF. As their different experiences interweave with each other, it is only then that you will reveal the full story and unlock all the mysteries of a Brain Punk future caught between technology and psychic abilities in SCARLET NEXUS.
We reviewed Scarlet Nexus earlier this year and really enjoyed our time with it. If you're looking for something different and love anime, you're no doubt going to feel right at home here.
Will you be checking out Scarlet Nexus? Let us know in the comments below.

Played on my ps5, really good game especially the visuals, encourage people to definitely give it a try
Very happy with that so far! Though I don’t have the time to play it right now!
Time to resubscribe!
Only have limited time for JRPGs any recommendations to prioritise?
@themightyant All great games mate but the two huge stand outs for me are Nier Automata and Final Fantasy XII.
Two of my all time faves 😁
@themightyant NieR: Automata is a personal favourite of mine because of how imaginative it is, so I'd definitely recommend playing that one.
And if you haven't already, I highly recommend Yakuza 0 as well.
This was a surprise! Please bring Sakura Wars to Xbox.
@themightyant
Nier: Automata is only good on first playthru but you need 3 to get correct ending.
Started out to be a 8/10 ended up with a 6/10.
You might like second and third playthru so score might be higher for you in the end.
@themightyant octopath is the best of that bunch imo I thought it was really good. The battle system is really fun.
FF12 is really underrated too I think, it’s different but I loved the gambit system and it’s combat.
@Neverwild it never really clicked with me either. After reading and hearing about what a masterpiece it was I played through on Gamepass and was really underwhelmed. The only standout thing about that game is it’s music for me.
So many games coming at the moment i can't keep up. Will definitely give this a go.
@Fenbops
Yeah music is great.
Game is good but not great.
Could almost be worth playing only for music.
@JohannVanDerSmut @Fenbops @Neverwild @LtSarge @LocalPenguin
All appreciated responses! Thank you.
But now i'm even more confuddled. 😂😂😂
The main trouble is i'm not good at stopping playing games once I've started, even if I should. So a 40-100+ hour JRPG is a big undertaking, and seems like a big decision.
I have played FF12 before on PS2 release and loved it + gambit system. Slowly doing a replay of all FF's on GP so will likely get round to it. It's the safe, comfort blanket, bet.
I've almost started Nier: Automata on so many occasions. It's been lavished with praise by so many, but while I didn't hate the demo, I merely liked it. And the idea of many playthroughs turns me off. (Yet I think I 'might' love it... maybe)
Octopath I wanted to love the demo but didn't. Still heard mostly good things. It's also the longest on HLTB... this might be the toughest sell.
Scarlet Nexus - TBH I should play the demo, though they're not always representative.
Code Vein not getting a lot of love. First one to go I think.
Thanks again. I'll get there!
Juicy. Absolutely, positively juicy. Can't wait to play & beat this game
@themightyant It's not like multiple playthroughs in NieR means that you'll be playing the exact same game over and over. For example, there are a lot of games these days that require you to play through the same game but with some additional scenarios here and there in order to reach the true ending. That's not how it works in NieR. Think of it instead like three different games packed into one. Granted, the second playthrough is very similar to the first one but the third one is vastly different.
I played through the game back when it came out and only did the first playthough before taking a break from it and I honestly felt content after only playing through the first one. It took me 25-30 hours I believe but that's including the numerous side quests that you don't need to do if you don't want to. So if you want, you could just do the first playthrough and see if that's enough for you.
I was so close to buying this at launch, but if it's one thing GPU has taught me is to not buy games unless they are exclusive to other consoles. Ha! My weekend is officially booked.
I bought this at launch. I don't think I've beaten it yet. Got lost in MSFS and Psychonauts and Sea of Thieves. But it's a well crafted game. Love the art design and music the most. Story is BONKERS.
I just noticed and thought at first it was a bug. I was about to buy it (still might if it's as good as i hope)
Had the game since launch but still haven't started it. I should probably get on that.
@LtSarge Appreciate that crucial nugget of info!
Looks to have touch controls on xcloud - as does AI: The Somnium Files
Now you all have no excuse play it!
Ooo Butterfly wings O.O
Great addition to gamepass..
@themightyant scarlet nexus and nier are more hack n slash. Code vein is more anime dark souls. Octopath is closest to a traditional jrpg.
Austria ascending
Bug fables
Crisis tales
Darkest dungeon
DQ XI
Frostpunk
GEARS tactics
Star renegades
Undertale
Wasteland series
Yakuza: like a dragon
I think all, if not most of these, are turnbased rpgs.
Of course, because I bought it last sale..... But it was a good price, and at least I can stream it now. Only 5 more Yakuza games to go, first!
@themightyant Code Vein's not a JRPG, it's a Souls-alike wrapped in JRPG clothing. I tried to like it, and it hooked me at first, but....eh, can't stand souls formula still. It's the freaking bonfire system. I hate it.
@NEStalgia Code Vein was OUT of the running... but all the talk of Souls like (which I love) has made me put it back in
Man oh man, game pass keeps on giving , like my backlog wasn't big enough, great get though
@themightyant LOL, that's right, you're a big Souls fan. Yeah, you'd like it a lot then, probably.
@JohannVanDerSmut no apologies, it is. I was being pedantic, myself, with my original comment.
