Kena: Bridge of Spirits has launched on PlayStation and PC, resulting in a lot of buzz and positive reviews. Most notable is its visual style, which embodies an animated film, most likely due to developer Ember Lab's background in animation.
With Kena: Bridge of Spirits making waves in the gaming world, Xbox fans are desperate to know whether they'll be able to get their hands on the game.
Here's everything we know about that so far.
Is Kena: Bridge Of Spirits Coming To Xbox?
At the moment, we have no definitive information on this. BUT, there is some hope.
Towards the end of the game's reveal trailer last year, it was noted as a PlayStation 5 console exclusive (although we now know it's also available on PlayStation 4). However, a disclaimer at the bottom reads: "Console exclusive for a limited time. Also available on PC".
Obviously, we know about its PC release, but the limited time comment suggests we may see it on Xbox in the future. Although, it's not clear how long the limited time arrangement is.
When Is Kena: Bridge Of Spirits' Xbox Release Date?
At the time of writing, Kena: Bridge of Spirits is available on PC, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The game was delayed a few times but is now finally in the wild. Due to the timed exclusivity arrangement, we wouldn't expect the game to hit Xbox (if at all) until March 2022 at the earliest, but most likely late 2022 or later.
What Type Of Game Is Kena: Bridge Of Spirits?
Kena: Bridge of Spirits is an action-adventure game which sees players controlling the titular character. You collect a substance known as Rot to gain powerful abilities and change the world, exploring an array of stunning locations.
Combat is also a big part of Kena, as you engage in a mixture of hack & slash fights, along with the ability to fire down with ranged attacks.
Our sister site Push Square described the game as "a strong debut from Ember Lab", adding "the wonderful visuals and music leave a strong impression, while the gameplay is simple but enjoyable". It also has a Metacritic score of 84 based on 24 reviews, suggesting it's a critical success.
Unfortunately, that's all we know for now. There's no solid information, but it seems fairly likely an Xbox release could be on the cards. Until then, it's now available on PS4, PS5 and PC.

There was a tweet from the dev last year regarding it being timed exclusive.

I am interested in the game from a visual standpoint. I haven’t watched any actual gameplay of it yet though.
Been playing this since I got back from work and it's a decent game, not perfect but by far ember labs best game
Edit: apparently it's their only game 😂
The game seems to be getting good reviews, I'll definitely check it out if it comes to Xbox..
Won’t pick this up at all or maybe wait until I have nothing else to play.
But that’s not going to happen anytime soon, especially with the Christmas of games looming closer.
6 months of exclusivity, maybe slightly more, is my guess.
Game is wonderful! Hope you guys don't have to wait too long!
@Xenomorph_79 On the other i've been playing it all afternoon and i think its been really good, the game braking bug is on the PS4 version only i read not that it excuses it.
Game looks meh to me...lot reviews have said basically it looks good but that everything else other games do it better..so makes you wonder why it's reviewing so we'll hmmm
Not fussed about it coming to Xbox and I doubt il try it on ps unless it comes to ps plus
How dare you call the cute little Rot “a substance”!
Shame on you!
@SplooshDmg well I’m not sure back porting to the PS4 would have required much with that particular game. Pretty sure it was developed for PS4 and then shifted to PS5 late in its dev cycle.
@SplooshDmg I dunno Godfall is weird and very “sus”.
Played through the first act of three today and honestly it’s been a lot of fun so far. I was hesitant with it at first because it felt like a PS2/OG Xbox era game with glossy paint, but as I gave it time, the gameplay and world got really engrossing, even if the story and gameplay aren’t revolutionary. If the story is anything like the first act, I’m just expecting them to be three mostly contained and short stories that would work as movies. It’s simple stuff, but it’s heartfelt. It’s reminding me a lot of earlier 3D Zelda and Pikmin right now. If I continue liking the game as much as I am right now through to the end, it’ll definitely be on my year end top 10 list. Sometimes something short, sweet, and simple is the right combination. 2021 is a damn good year for 3D platformers with this, Psychonauts, and Ratchet all in one year. Hope a lot of people keep an open mind and get to experience this one.
Didn’t consider it might get ported. I’ll wait then. PS is my exclusives machine anyway.
4 hours in and i'm loving it. It reminds me of older games like the first Jak & Daxter or Banjo Kazooie. There's a beautiful simplicity to it and it oozes charm.
It's not perfect and likely not for many but for their first game it's REALLY impressive to me. Core dev team was only 15 people with some art support from other hired studios, as with most high visual fidelity games nowadays.
I usually wait to play games but there was just something about this game I really liked and I wanted to support a new dev team. Plus it was reportedly very stable at launch (bar the mask bug) a rarity seemingly, and the fact it's relatively short (a bonus in my eyes) at reportedly 12-15 hours to finish 15-20 to 100% has made me jump in. Very pleased so far.
Hope it comes to Xbox sooner rather than later.
@WallyWest @Xenomorph_79 The taro mask bug isn't game breaking, you can load your last save from the pause menu.
FAR from ideal and needs to be fixed asap but as the game constantly auto-saves you don't lose much time at all. However there is a chance it will happen again, but this fixes it for many.
@themightyant Short is a plus for me too. Are you playing on PS5 or PS4? I don’t have a PS5 but wondering if it’s still worth a shot on (base) PS4? I usually prefer to play the best version of a game if I can though so not sure if I should just wait it out until Series X version.
@WallyWest I find with Series X and PS5 games not a blog of bugs exist on many games, as opposed to Xbox one and PS4. Another good reason to invest into this generation of consoles
@K1LLEGAL PS5 and it's lovely. Don't know much about PS4 version, this is a problem with media outlets when a new gen arrives.
But I haven't heard anything bad about it, other than the mask bug, from some PS4 players discussing it on YouTube. Based on this and how smoothly this runs on PS5 at launch, and on PC according to reviews, i'd assume the PS4 also runs OK.
I've heard the PC version is clearly better but I'm still on the fence. I'm kinda disappointed in that the visuals were somewhat degraded from the first gameplay trailer we saw and I'm not at all impressed with the animation, which doesn't match the game in still pictures as far as detail and art style.
@themightyant thanks - I will at least wait for the patch; and possibly for the hype to die down a bit and see if opinions change. Looking forward to eventually playing it either way.
looks like it's 2 year exclusive. 1 year exclusivity already done but still no announcement
Has there been any update/news on whether this may likely come?
