Tales of Arise is slowly creeping up on us, huh? It's crazy to think that after radio silence for a long time, the game will be out in just a little over two months. Of course, what would a Tales game be without a new opening anime sequence?
With its upbeat soundtrack, the animation introduces us to the game's colourful world and cast of characters. We also get to see their skills in full-on anime action, certainly giving us an indication as to how the action-JRPG will play out.
Not only that, but PlayStation Japan has uploaded some lovely new gameplay. The graphics engine looks like a huge improvement, as does the world design. Tales games were often known for their sparse landscapes, but this looks packed full of detail. Of course, the combat is also on full display, and while it's in Japanese, we can still revel in its absolute visceral majesty.
Tales of Zesteria, which unfortunately never made its way to Xbox, still takes the crown for the best introduction for us. Its rock theme with piercing guitar riffs is embedded into our brains, and if you haven't checked it out, it's worth taking a look. If you've never sampled the series, be sure to jump on Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition with Xbox Game Pass. While some of its combat may be a bit dated now, it's still a joyous world to explore and a great story to lose yourself in - often considered one of the series' best.

The only Tales of that I have beaten is Tales of Symphonia on GameCube but I'm quite excited for Tales of Arise since the developers are including tons of gameplay and graphics improvements.
I own Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition but I haven't played it yet.
I’ve only played Berseria and Vesperia. I enjoyed Berseria, but there is a lot of stuff in Vesperia that annoyed me. This game looks good though.
This game looks awesome. Been a while since I've played a Tales of game, though I did buy Berseria very cheap in a PS+ sale a couple years ago. Probably should give the game a try at some point.
The opening animation is indeed stunning, but the song? Nothing an aggressive ear infection couldn't fix.
