Xbox's 20th anniversary celebrations may be pretty much done and dusted at this point, but there are still a few promotions rolling out including this brand-new '20 Years of Play' trailer, giving us a fantastic trip down memory lane.
As you can see, the video shows a multi-generational family of gamers working their way up from the original Xbox all the way back in 2001 to the Xbox Series S in 2021 — and everything in-between, of course.
The video has gone down a treat with Xbox fans, many of which have been recalling their best Xbox memories and highlighting the "overwhelming nostalgia" conjured up by the trailer. The Xbox team always hits it out of the park when it comes to these things!
"Congrats on 20 years, Xbox. Here's to 20 more."

Reminds me of to the Playstation one from a year or so ago for the 25 anniversary, another nice hit of nostalgia with the OG Xbox
I swear that's a better Switch ad than Xbox ad at the end
@NEStalgia Nah Steamdeck ;P
@NEStalgia Can you imagine how big Sea of Thieves would get if it was ever released on the Switch?
@GhanaViking In an alternate universe where Nintendo bought Rare, SoT would have been the next Smash.
On second thought, I don't think I could take an internet where that happened....
@GhanaViking Phil Spencer and others have talked about how big Viva Pinata would have been if it was released a few years later on mobile. Sometimes games are ahead of their time.
@themightyant I'd love them to make a new Viva Pinata, still one of my favourite Xbox series
As cool as this was, it really bugged me they couldn’t track the game footage to the screens properly. It kind of wobbles around. Watching it on a big TV is not it’s friend. Fun video tho 😃
A female gamer. Imagine that.
@russbeer huh? It’s a commercial…
I'm more of a PlayStation guy but while PS2 was my console of choice the original Xbox had some of my favorite games that gen. Halo 1-2, Dead or Alive 3, PGR, Forza Motorsport, Jade Empire, Doom 3, Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay, Top Spin Tennis, the classic Splinter Cells... It was an impressive debut for MS in the console market.
