Re: Xbox Rolling Out Fix To Improve Speed Of Scanning For Updates

ralphdibny

@themightyant completely agree. I wish smart delivery was smarter and just updated any game (including the DLC) I have on my console to the best possible version and stored it in the best possible place. Put the rest of it on the external hard drive.

Also, the power thing is a real bugbear for me. Just wish I could choose eco mode, instant on or full shutdown when I hold down the Xbox button instead of going into settings to select Full Shutdown or swapping between the defaults

Re: Deals: All 25+ Backwards Compatible Games In The Xbox Spring Sale 2022

ralphdibny

I completely rely on these articles now to buy the BC 360 games not available to purchase on Xbox One/Series.

The 360 marketplace is so hard to navigate. I am quite keen on buying all the Sega games when they are on sale but when you search Sega on the 360 store, it only shows games with Sega in the title. I don't seem to be able to search by publisher.

It doesn't tell you if it's discounted on there either, or at least I can't work it out. It requires some knowledge of a games RRP to know whether the price displayed is discounted.

On top of that, without these guides, I'd have to have multiple web pages open just to keep track of which games available on the 360 store but not on the Xbox one/series store that are actually backwards compatible.

Re: Hardware Review: PowerA Duo Charging Station For Xbox Series X|S

ralphdibny

I was looking at charging stands a few weeks ago but none of the ones I researched met my satisfaction. One of them looked quite good (Venom I think?) But Amazon reviews showed the batteries melting and exploding so I nixed the idea.

Ended up going for an Energizer wall charger that came with 4x 2000mah AA batteries for about Β£20. It's actually really good. I have only used one set of batteries so far and it's lasted a couple weeks. Not sure how many hours exactly but think a couple hours after work each night with some fairly long sessions at the weekend.

I highly recommend this solution. Got another pair of batteries charged ready for when my first set eventually run out!

Re: Talking Point: How Many Games Have You Bought In 2022 So Far?

ralphdibny

Astral chain, paper Mario and Disney collection (updated) on Switch

First of the north star ps4

Oddworld new n tasty, jet set radio and something else I struggle to remember on Xbox

Mario kart DS, f zero GP legends and Mario kart super circuit on Wii u (as well as the remaining panorama view things I didn't get from my Nintendo)

But all I've played this year is Halo, Yakuza and Forza Horizon on game pass πŸ˜πŸ˜¨πŸ˜‚

(And a bit of MKDS on Wii u)

Re: Xbox Is Shutting Down Support For Windows Phone In May 2022

ralphdibny

I resisted smartphones for so long a decade or so ago. My first smartphone ended up being a Windows phone. A Nokia Lumia 720.

It was certainly an interesting phone but I do remember having FOMO about the popular apps my friends were using. Only having dodgy looking "client" alternatives to use on WP just put me off. Probably for the best in that I didn't get obsessed with Snapchat, Instagram and the like though πŸ˜…

Unfortunately I repeated the mistake some years later when I bought an Amazon Kindle Fire 7. Such a trash device πŸ˜…

Re: PSA: Control And The Medium Both Leave Xbox Game Pass Next Week

ralphdibny

I wish they'd give definitive dates when a game might leave once it has joined, even if they have to backtrack later because they've signed an extension deal.

I know third party games typically (but not always) stay on for around 12 months. Im trying to blast my way through Yakuza 4 (and hopefully 5) as they have gone past the year mark of being on the service.

It feels like I'm writing an essay past the deadline!

Re: Microsoft Is Making Changes To Refunds And Auto-Renewals On Xbox

ralphdibny

I will echo others sentiments and hope a similar investigation is applied to Nintendo and Sony and they follow suit.

Nintendo is so bad that I struggled to even get a refund on physical purchases from their online UK store recently. Literally getting blood out of stone. They tried to make me jump through so many hoops that I knew they were hoping I would just give up.

I would absolutely never buy from there again if they weren't the sole retailer for the NSO controllers. I'm hoping the N64 ones are the last they produce because I really don't want to use them again after I finally buy those controllers when they restock them.

Re: 8BitDo Is Bringing Its Popular Pro 2 Controller To Xbox This December

ralphdibny

@FraserG haha yeah, I must have been tired that day or maybe there were a lot of articles that were of interest to me all in one go. It's funny y'know, I feel like once I've read all the articles I want to on PX, PS and NL, that I deem myself to have "run out of internet" to look at for the day πŸ˜….

4000+ though?! Just crazy how far this site has come since the relaunch! Congratulations and keep it up! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Re: 8BitDo Is Bringing Its Popular Pro 2 Controller To Xbox This December

ralphdibny

@FraserG haha I know I tagged you in the Chit Chat thread pondering the lack of an article on this and I wondered whether I'd just missed it. My apologies, I just found this through a Google search.

Some of these comments seen familiar though, so I actually must have seen this article and forgotten about it completely! πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

Re: Microsoft Rewards: How To Earn 400 Points With Back 4 Blood On Xbox Game Pass

ralphdibny

Just a quick heads up that the actual achievements might not pop until your game session has ended and you are back at the camp hub.

Also that you need to be playing with at least one other real person and not just bots. If your first matchmaking is filled with bots then quit and retry until you get some real players.

I could be wrong but that was my experience with it anyway when I played on Sunday.

Re: Microsoft Considering Offering Xbox Owners 'Right To Repair' Their Own Systems

ralphdibny

Louis Rossman is a legend!

It's not even neccesarily for users to repair things themselves, it's more so that independent repair shops (that don't have an interest in getting you to upgrade to a new model) have access to the specs and parts

Using authorised repairs outside of a warranty is a conflict of interest. There seems to be countless instances of people being told they need $1000 repairs but they can just upgrade to a new model for $1100. Taking that same problem to an independent repair shop can reveal that it's actually only a $50 repair either because the authorised repair shop is making the problem sound worse so they can sell an upgrade or just because the script theyve been trained with doesn't account for more specific repairs that an experienced technician will be familiar with.

I'm more familiar with the issues with Apple and it's genius bars, I didn't know MS had the same issue!

Re: Far Cry 6 Only Installs 700MB From The Disc On Xbox Series X

ralphdibny

It's such a weird one because people will have different preferences. I think for me, it's a given that one day I will have a Series X so I would probably want to have the Series X version on disc and have that download the One version in the mean time but that would be frustrating for somebody who is never planning to upgrade

Re: Deals: All Classic Xbox Games In This Week's Sales (October 5-12)

ralphdibny

@NotoriousWhiz ahh sweet yeah that might be an idea. Not sure if you can remap the sticks or not, definitely can't on the Switch but I haven't tried on the Xbox. I had to remap the d pad to the face buttons for one sequence in Battletoads NES on rare replay. Required quick fire direction changes so needed my right hand for it!

Re: Deals: All Classic Xbox Games In This Week's Sales (October 5-12)

ralphdibny

@NotoriousWhiz ah lame sorry!! I didn't even try to remap the buttons on the game when I've played it. Admittedly Xbox pad isn't great for anything that's better suited for D-Pad or symmetrical sticks. So annoying they can't let us just use any controller on the thing.... That 8bitdo mini switch pad lite controller would be perfect for games like this as it replaces both analog sticks with d pads

What was the price in the end? I can't see it because I already have the game in my Library. Hope it didn't cost too much if it's unplayable for you
