Routine's comeback was a surprise ... so was Witchfire's. Fort Solis seemed pretty intriguing. Callisto Protocol's gameplay was brutal and awesome. And MWII's visual was pretty jaw droppin' Got to see Nightingale's gameplay as well. Internet ruined the TLOU Remake surprise.
Overall : Not bad. Pretty good. Don't know what colossal expectations people were having tbh
The whole showcase closes with the MWII in game trailer. (celebrating the Acti-Bliz deal and return of CoD-Xbox partnership) Before that, IW will only have shown a reveal teaser in May.
Yea the show was too long ... but the reveals were pretty good. I dont know what massive expectations some people were having, but it was a micro-E3. We got announcements and sneek-peaks from Arc Raiders, Star Wars Eclipse, Monolith's Wonder Woman, Aaryn Flynn's Nightingale, Alan Wake 2, Space Marine 2, Plague Tale Requiem, Suicide Squad, Slitterhead, Senua II, Horizon Forbidden West, Evil West and Sonic Frontiers. And that's not including Steelrising and many more ...
@elpardo1984
I think MS is targeting Starfield, Redfall, Forza Moto & CrossFireX for 2022 along with GhostWire(MS internal but for PS/PC).
As well as Xbox will get Deathloop in 2022, too.
Avowed will just add to the clutter.
Whereas 2023 seems barren for the time being and Avowed is perfect to garner attention it deserves and not share spotlight with other MS First Party. Give it some room to breath.
And Stalker 2 is just timed launch exclusive for few months, not first party.
@chicken_chaser And Fable should squeeze in between Avowed & Outer Worlds 2 for a Q2 2024 release. And the inXile's Steampunk-RPG can compliment TES VI.
So ...
Starfield(2022) -> Avowed(2023) -> Outer Worlds 2(2024) ->
TES VI(2025) ?
Nice alternate between sci-fi and high-fantasy
Not bad ... not bad at all!
It was made F2P for a reason, Christ sakes! And as someone pointed out in reddit, that it costs less to Unlock Chief's skin in Fortnite than to unlock his design in the series he has been the main character of for 20 years.
Even though I've been playing ES since Morrowind .... I've become even more a fan of the Bethesda's Fallout series. Went even as far as playing Fallout 76. That one pager outline for Fallout 5 is an exciting bit of teaser but alas, doesn't look like we'll be getting that before 2028~30, if ES6 is 2025~26. Still wish they'd allow Obsidian to work on New Vegas 2 (after Outer Worlds 2) while they work on ES6.
@gollumb82 Doom 3 is the infamous odd one out actually. A slower horror shooter. Hence the initial hate it got from the Doom fanbase because of the change in gameplay style and atmosphere.
My scariest video game moment was when I deleted a bunch of folders containing save files of some lengthy RPGs as well of some other pretty difficult games. I nearly blacked out.
" ... using Unreal Engine to make these classics more vibrant and more immersive than ever " Nah, Its still renderware. That Unreal Engine rumor was misleading. If they're doing it in UE, then it should be a Remake. But its just a remaster. So ... Its using UE4 as a frontend for various UI elements for the trilogy's bundle/common launch menu. Grand Theft Auto Trilogy remasters are being developed by Rockstar Dundee, which previously worked on the Halo: The Master Chief Collection under the name Ruffian Games. The same devs used UE4 frontend for the MCC collection's UI and menus previously. This remaster is not actually being made in Unreal Engine. Its the same ol' GTA III,VC, SA code made using Renderware. Just spruced up a bit. Similar to Halo MCC.
@elpardo1984 Nope, that Unreal Engine part is kind of misleading. If they're doing it in UE, then it'll be a Remake. But the leaked doc says remastered. So ... I guess its using UE4 as a frontend for various UI elements for the trilogy's bundle/common launch menu. Grand Theft Auto Trilogy remasters are being developed by Rockstar Dundee, which previously worked on the Halo: The Master Chief Collection under the name Ruffian Games. The same devs used UE4 frontend for the MCC collection's UI and menus previously. There even used to be a common UE4 error in Halo MCC for PC. Hence, this remaster is not actually being made in Unreal Engine. Its the same ol' GTA III,VC, SA code made using Renderware. Just spruced up a bit. Similar to Halo MCC.
They thought the announcement's gonna be a normal thing:
"Yea, we got Crystal Dynamics with us, on this one!"
And they thought fans'll be like:
"Ooh yea ... Tomb Raider vets gonna do a prrtty good Joanna Dark"
But instead, fans went like:
"Something's not right, I can feel it in muh bones ... Something or somebody screwed up .... oh dear"
Hmm ... all depends if its a lazy one like Burnout Paradise/Mafia 2/Kingdoms of Amalur or a pretty good overhaul like Halo 2/Spider-Man/CoD 4:MW/Mass Effect 1
Switching to Frostbite was a big blunder for BioWare. Everything went downhill from Inquisition to Andromeda to Anthem. Don't know about Dragon Age 4 but it'd be better if BioWare switched back to Unreal (UE5) for the next ME. Let the devs choose their engine EA.
@GamingFan4Lyf What can be a better trade off is, Id adding and optimizing RT reflections and GI in this Remaster and giving it a 1080p@60fps mode. Fast paced fragging and Quake rocket jumping with smooth lighting and reflections. Win-win.
@GamingFan4Lyf Path tracing is pretty expensive in terms of compute. The RTX 3080 runs the Quake II RTX @ 30fps when at 4K. And only achieves 60fps when in 1440p. Full path tracing like the Nvidia Marbles demo; RTX 3090 was able to run it at 1440p smoothly @ 30fps only with DLSS enabled.
So 'just' a resolution upscaling? No other visual enhancement? The PS4/XOne version was significantly enhanced from the PS3/X360 version. And that enhanced version was released ultimately for the PC.

Path tracing is pretty expensive in terms of compute.
The RTX 3080 runs the Quake II RTX @ 30fps when at 4K.
