Re: Talking Point: What Was The Best Surprise Of This Year's Xbox Summer Showcases?

RazputinAquato

South of Midnight, Clockwork Revolution (Project Cobalt) and Towerborne (Project Belfry) were all rumoured for years now, so neither of them was a huge surprise that came out of the blue.

Hence I will choose a small indie game shown in the extended showcase that went pretty much unnoticed, but looked fun as hell: Go Mecha Ball. It looks like a mix of twin stick shooter and pinball.

Re: Soapbox: As 'State Of Decay' Turns 10, I'm Super Excited To See More Of What's Next

RazputinAquato

State of Decay 2 is one of my favorite games of the Xbox One generation. It's been improved so much that it became some sort of cult classic.

My only fear for State of Decay 3 is that it becomes some sort of live service game, full of microtransactions. SoD 2 shows a lot of potential for monetization, but thankfully Undead Labs has been giving us everything for free. With a AAA version coming, that could be a different story...

Re: Best RPGs on Xbox Game Pass

RazputinAquato

I'm so hyped for Starfield that I started playing Skyrim again (I have already replayed Fallout 4 a couple months ago).

This time I decided to upgrade for the Anniversary Edition and I do not regret it! Survival Mode really makes it feel fresh again, dealing with the real possibilities of starvation, sleep deprivation and hypothermia makes exploring the frozen tundra of Skyrim genuinely scary!

Survival Mode is actually available for free in the Special Edition, that is in Game Pass, but Anniversary adds some items that can make it more manageable, like a backpack and camping gear. Not to mention loads of new spells, armor and other items. There are rechargeable gems for enchantments now!

Re: Poll: What Score Do You Think You'll Be Giving Starfield In September?

RazputinAquato

@rustyduck I suggest you to watch Digital Foundry's video on why Starfield is 30 fps. Is not just a matter of reducing resolution in order to get higher frame rates. It seems that the fact that you can interact with the objects in the game, steal everyone's sandwich and stash them in your ship, that has an impact in the frame rate.

Would you trade 60fps for a static world where you can't interact with everything? And sacrificing fidelity for frame rates can also impact draw distance and pop-in for example. In a linear world where you're mostly bounded between walls that's not a problem, but in a game with planetary exploration and beautiful landscapes and moons and distant planets within the planetary system being simulated in real time ? We need all the draw distance that we can get.

Re: inXile Studio Head Shares More Details On First-Person RPG 'Clockwork Revolution'

RazputinAquato

@BAMozzy @Cashews gameplaywise, I'm sure it will be nothing like Bioshock Infinite. But it's impossible not to think about Infinite. Not only do the games look the same, but the story teased in the trailer is very reminiscent of Infinite... a steampunk city where a black woman is leading a revolution against the wealthy elite? And there is time travel? Granted that Bioshock Infinite is more about parallel universes, but the two still feel very similar to me.

Re: Forza Developer Working On Mobile Game That'll 'Focus On Car Customization'

RazputinAquato

If Microsoft is serious about the mobile market, they should release mobile games accessible through Game Pass without all the mobile BS of microtransactions and advertisement.

It's good to be able to play console games on the go through the cloud, but there isn't internet everywhere. Make decent mobile games without exploitation and people may subscribe to Game Pass just for that.

Re: Xbox Reportedly Enters New Agreement To Develop AAA Title With People Can Fly

RazputinAquato

@Jark it is confirmed. Pure Xbox is being a bit too cautious with these news, but if you check Eurogamer, you'll learn that People Can Fly actually made an official statement on the Polish site Interia Biznes. And it turns out that Interia is not just a random gaming news and rumours website, it's actually a business site and the statement was made by People Can Fly's Management Board.

Re: Hellblade 2 Dev Diary Goes Behind The Scenes On Xbox Games Showcase Trailer

RazputinAquato

I agree with @TakeItEasy on that, @Ep_13
Hellblade 2 is a 2024 game. Hence it will be shown again on the next not-E3 showcase or maybe in The Game Awards later this year, if it's an early 2024 title (which I don't think it is.)

If Microsoft had shown Hellblade 2 (or Fable) gameplay now, then what would it have left for the next showcase where those games are supposed to be the spotlights? They will go in-depth with Hellblade 2 once it is next in line to be the Xbox's flagship release.

Re: Random: New Tenacious D Song Confirms Jack Black Digs Fallout 4, Red Dead 2

RazputinAquato

Fallout 4 is actually awesome, even though some fans seem to think otherwise. Okay, it's not an RPG full of options and consequences, but it's probably the best open world shooter around. Much better than any Far Cry game, in my opinion.

On the other hand, I don't like RDR 2 at all. Every mission follows the same pattern: cutscene with your friends planning shenenigans, ride 10 minutes to the place marked in the map, "oh no, the plan has gone awry!", shootout ensues, cutscene, ride 10 minutes back. Rinse and repeat for 60 hours. Collect 10's and GotY awards.

TLDR; I think Fallout 4 is better than RDR 2.

Re: Diablo 4 Could Be Shaping Up As Another 2023 GOTY Contender

RazputinAquato

I have very little experience with Diablo, only played a little bit of Diablo 3. I think this game is okay. Not bad, it's actually really fun to play mindlessly while listening to a podcast, since it's so easy it's basically anti-Dark Souls... but I wouldn't spend full price on Diablo IV. Hopefully the ABK deal will go through by June and I won't have to.

Re: Report: Redfall Was 'Immediately Cancelled' For PS5 Following Xbox Takeover

RazputinAquato

Sadly, the society and specially the internet these days are very toxic and negative. From serious business, like politics, to harmless stuff like videogames, every topic is hyperpolarized and there are two tribes yelling at each other. It's not fun to engage with platform agnostic communities like N4G anymore because everything becomes a console war. That's the appeal of sites like Pure Xbox for Xbox players and Push Square for Playstation players. To interact with like minded individuals, because we don't know how to interact with people with different tastes and opinions anymore. 😞

Re: Microsoft Offers ActiBlizz Remedies To EU, Deadline Pushed Back Yet Again

RazputinAquato

@Kaloudz I believe that what they mean is that the European Comission is not worried about competition in the console business. Sony could not convince them that the merger would be detrimental for their console business.

However, the EC is worried about cloud gaming market. Although that's a small market now, we don't know if in five, ten, years time it will be the a big deal for gaming, and with Microsoft having a killer app such as Call of Duty exclusive to their own cloud platform, the governments are worried that Xbox could build a monopoly there.

That's why Microsoft is addressing those concerns by offering 10 year deals to put CoD on competing cloud streaming services.

Re: Review: Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty - Team Ninja Unleashes Its Finest Soulslike Experience Onto Xbox Game Pass

RazputinAquato

@Bleachedsmiles if it weren't for the first boss, just 15 minutes into the very first level, I'd say Wo Long is easier and more accessible than Elden Ring. But on the other hand, it's a linear game and you can't run away from a boss you're not ready to fight yet. I can see most people bouncing off Wo Long in the first half-hour just because the first boss is so damn frustrating.

Re: Review: Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty - Team Ninja Unleashes Its Finest Soulslike Experience Onto Xbox Game Pass

RazputinAquato

@Stoned_Patrol the first boss is a HUGE difficulty spike. I was breezing through the first level, but once I got to Zhang Liang it took me at least a dozen tries to finally beat it. According to other reviews, most bosses in the game are not nearly as hard as that. It's almost as if Team Ninja wanted to make players feel frustrated and bounce off the game by putting an enormous roadblock in the way in the very beginning of the campaign... But other than that, Wo Long is not nearly as hard as the Souls games. It's a cool game, combat is fun, it looks great... you just have to persevere to get past that first boss.
