Re: Poll: Which Was Your Favourite Xbox Game Pass Addition In July?

RazputinAquato

@awp69 Omno is very good! The Ascent and MS Flight Sim got all the attention and this little gem has passed unnoticed. It didn't even get a review from Pure Xbox. It's currently sitting at 81 in OpenCritic after 10 reviews, I think more people should try it.

It's a very relaxing puzzle platformer with a beautiful low-poly artstyle. And its achievements come very easily as well, for people who care about gamerscore.

Re: Former PlayStation Exec Shares Concerns With Xbox Game Pass Model

RazputinAquato

I think some of you are forgetting to account for the costs of Game Pass. 23M people paying $10/month makes $230M/month of revenue.

However, MS cannot reinvest all that revenue on making two $115M games every month. Part of that share will be used to pay 3rd party studios that put their games on Game Pass, deals with publishers like EA, a part will be used on the maintenance of the service, and let's not forget that there will be a share taken as profits for the shareholders.

So, the fraction of your $10 that will actually pay for new games is much lower. I have no idea how much, maybe $1 or $2. But even assuming it's $1/month, with 20 million subscribers you'll still amass the budget for a $120M videogame every six months. Once they grow to 40 M subs, they would manage to fund one of those games every quarter, which is their target.

Surely Microsoft knows what is the magic number of subscribers that makes Xbox Game Pass break even. They might have already reached that number, or maybe they aren't there yet, but once they reach that critical mass, every new subscriber means easy money for them.

Re: Talking Point: Where Have You Been Flying In Microsoft Flight Simulator?

RazputinAquato

I flew mostly over my country. Which sucks, because other than Rio, Brazil didn't get much love from Asobo Studios. Brasília is missing its iconic buildings, the Iguazu Falls became a flat river, cities with beautiful 16th century colonial architecture like Ouro Preto look like just boring regular cities... Even Macchu Picchu in the neighboring Peru is nowhere to be seen. At least they got my neighborhood mostly okay-ish.

Hopefully South America will get some attention in the World Update #154 in the year 2029...

Re: The Dead Space Remake Will 'Never' Have Microtransactions, Says EA

RazputinAquato

Things I want them to change in the remake:

  • Give Isaac a voice, like in DS 2.
  • Bring the Javelin Gun and the Seeker Rifle from DS2, but no weapon building as in DS3.
  • Better control in the vacuum, as they commented.
  • Give DS 1 a story DLC, that's the only main game in the series that never got one. I'd love to see a prequel showcasing the events in the USG Ishimura before Isaac Clarke's arrival.

Other than that, just keep the game as it is, specially the gameplay. It's near perfect already.

Re: It's Official, A Dead Space Remake Is Coming To Xbox Series X & Series S

RazputinAquato

@carlos82 do play it! The first and the second one. You're in for a treat. I've beaten each one at least three times, so if this game happens to be your thing, I don't think you will be done after your first playthrough (and if it's not, you will just save yourself $70, since the whole trilogy is available on Game Pass).

Moreover, the remake is probably years away and it will not be a 100% faithful recreation of the original game.

Re: Netflix Is Officially Adding Games To The Service, Initially Focusing On Mobile

RazputinAquato

@LtSarge Microsoft's plan is to release one big 1st party title per quarter. That's very ambitious and only a massive publisher with 23 studios and counting can do that.

In order to compete with Xbox Game Pass, Netflix would need to either invest a lot of cash that they don't actually have OR partner up or even merge with another player. Joining Playstation would make a lot of sense in that case.

Re: Netflix Reportedly Bringing Gaming To Its Streaming Service 'Within The Next Year'

RazputinAquato

@SplooshDmg my thoughts exactly. It would be very expensive for Netflix to make something that could compete with Xbox Game Pass. At the very least, they would have to make a major purchase rivalling what Microsoft payed for Bethesda. Even Google doesn't look very keen to shell out that kind of money for 1st party studios at the moment.

I believe Netflix is eyeing the mobile game market. Stuff you can play on your cell phone through Netflix's app.

Re: Phil Spencer Finally Reveals Why He Has A Nintendo Switch On His Shelf

RazputinAquato

@UltimateOtaku91 mine is retired, back in its box forever due to joycon drift and a glitch in the software that prevents me from downloading or updating digital games. I tried everything, including resetting it to factory settings and nothing works. And Nintendo is not officially in my country, so I can't just ask them to replace my console. I'm very angry at Nintendo and I don't intend to buy any of their products ever again.

Re: Phil Spencer: Xbox Is Building More Narrative-Driven Games Than Ever Before

RazputinAquato

@FatalBubbles you know, the first time I tried Doom Eternal the gameplay didn't click with me. But now I gave it another chance because of the Xbox Series upgrade and I'm loving it, having the time of my life.

It happens, sometimes you're just not in the right mood to enjoy a particular game. I didn't like RDR 2 either, not because the game was bad, but because I was not in the mood for such a slow burn game when I tried it. So, who knows, maybe if I gave GoW another chance I could enjoy it just as much as you did. Sadly I don't see it happening in the foreseeable future because there are just too many games to play...

Re: Phil Spencer: Xbox Is Building More Narrative-Driven Games Than Ever Before

RazputinAquato

I like the narrative-driven Playstation exclusives a lot. What I don't like about Playstation 1st party output (which doesn't include the likes of Bloodborne and JRPGs like Persona 5) is that pretty much all of them are cast in the same mould: 3rd person action-adventure games, usually there's an AI companion to banter with and/or to protect and bond through an emotional journey... good stuff, really, but they lack variety.

In comparison, Xbox has released very few noteworthy exclusives over the last years, but they seem to be in the right track now and offering a more varied menu. Narrative-driven 3rd person action-adventure stuff would very much welcomed additions, as long as they aren't all that we will get.

Re: Talking Point: How Useful Have You Found The 'HDMI In' Port On Your Xbox One?

RazputinAquato

I used it for a while, back when I didn't own a Smart TV. Since I used to run Netflix on Xbox One it was nice to have live TV one click away. I even owned an Xbox Media Remote back then, the Xbox One truly was my main media hub

Now the only media I stream to my Xbox Series S rather than on my Smart TV is HBO Max, because its app is buggy as hell in the TV and it runs much better albeit not flawlessly, on Xbox.

Re: Xbox Store Now Highlights Diverse Games Made In Latin America

RazputinAquato

@Dezzy they totally should do it for all regions. I believe Latin America is getting "special treatment" because there is an important latino community inside the USA and because Xbox is striving to grow within Latin America itself. Not to mention that Phil Spencer specifically said more than once that he wanted to have studios in Latin America. I'd expect a couple of the studios in the region to be acquired soonish.

Re: Phil Spencer Thanks The Fans As Xbox Game Pass Trends On Twitter

RazputinAquato

@Igorfgon probably both numbers refer to different things. I'm no economist and I could be wrong, but I suppose that, for example, in a family of four where two adults work but two children do not, the average income per family member will be lower than the wages of the parents.

Anyway, you got my point. Videogame consoles are a luxury in developing nations and thus the Xbox Series S is a godsend for us, making that hobby more accessible to people who otherwise would not be able to play videogames at all.
