Re: Phil Spencer Thanks The Fans As Xbox Game Pass Trends On Twitter

RazputinAquato

@Dezzy70 maybe the Series S did not take off in England, but in the devoloping world it's the best thing ever. It's been on the headlines recently that the Xbox Series S was the best selling console in India for two months in a roll. In my own country, Brazil, it's been the best selling console in Amazon for months (including Nintendo Switch and PS4).

The math is simple: videogame consoles are very expensive both in Brazil and Argentina due to high taxes on imported electronics. The Xbox Series X officially retails for R$ 4599, which is equivalent to US$ 932 or £ 671. That's the official price, but since we're having issues with stocks as well, you won't find the Series X for less than R$ 7000 — do the math.

The Series S, however sells for a more sensible R$ 2799 = US$ 567 = £ 408. And that's usually the actual price you find in retail. Even the Xbox Series S is sort of a luxury product in Brazil, where people's monthly average income is R$ 893 = US$ 181 = £ 130.

Even in the developed world, the Series S is a great idea, since people who game mostly on Playstation may see it as a cheap gateway for the Xbox echosystem.

Re: Xbox & Kojima Reportedly 'Close' To Closing Deal For Upcoming Game

RazputinAquato

@Jslade does do Death Stranding IP belong to Sony or to Kojima Productions?

I believe Death Stranding is an ideal game to debut on Game Pass. I was curious about this game, but never bought it on my PS4 because it was unlike anything I ever played and I could definitely see myself getting bored with it and regretting my purchase. But on Game Pass pretty much everyone would just try it anyway.

This deal would be a big win for Kojima. He will be enabled to be as weird as he wants to without the pressure of selling millions of copies.

Re: Xbox Boss Phil Spencer Still Wants To 'Do Something' With Killer Instinct

RazputinAquato

@BlueOcean @Dezzy70 @Chaudy

I'm sure that Xbox Game Studios is well aware that there is a lot of demand for the returnal of both Banjo-Kazooie and Conker.

Phil Spencer himself has already said that he wanted more family games, rated E, on Xbox.

I believe the case for Banjo and Conker is pretty much the same as Killer Instinct: no internal studio is available to work on it at the moment. Or even wants to. But when they find "the right team and the right opportunity", they will make it. Like they did with KI itself and Battletoads.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 19th)

RazputinAquato

@Kilamanjaro indeed, Tunic kicked my butt. It took a while until I figured out how to get past those goblins with shields.

Sable on the other hand is a very promising games. All the good parts of Zelda Breath of the Wild without the breakable weapons BS. But it's still very rough around the edges, I hope they can polish it enough before releasing on September. It could become something special with more work.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 19th)

RazputinAquato

I'm replaying Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. I platinumed it on PS4 and might as well do it again and get 1000G on Xbox.

I'm surprised that I barely lost any muscle memory from playing it one year ago. I could beat in the first try a few bosses that demanded dozens of tries when I first played.

Also playing Control Ultimate Edition and Forza Horizon 4.

Re: Lovely Stuff, Hades Will Target 4K, 60FPS On Xbox Series X|S

RazputinAquato

I hope they can consistently hit the 60 fps target on Xbox Series S, otherwise I'd rather have it capped at 30 fps.

Resident Evil Village with Ray Tracing on feels very janky on the series S with the frame rate all over the place between 30 and 60 fps. RT off was a much smoother and more pleasant experience.

Re: BioWare's New Boss Is Aiming To 'Rebuild The Studio's Reputation'

RazputinAquato

@trev666 the powers do add some depth to the gameplay, but I believe my biggest gripe with Mass Effect 2 is the level design. Every level is just one big corridor with waist-high cover speckled around. As bad as the Mako is in ME 1, at least it adds some variety. ME 2 has that other vehicle that only shows up in optional assignments, but is even worse than the Mako.

Gears has good level design, more gameplay variety with actually good vehicle sections and the combat also makes melee and grenades viable. The only downside to Gears is the complete lack of Tali, my beautiful quarian...

Re: BioWare's New Boss Is Aiming To 'Rebuild The Studio's Reputation'

RazputinAquato

@LtSarge thanks for the feedback! I will take some time off from Mass Effect now, since I played 1 & 2 back to back, but you've encouraged me to play ME 3 later. I totally agree with your take on the story in ME 2.

I played ME 1 as vanguard. For ME 2 I switched to Infiltrator — I'm playing on Insanity difficulty and vanguard was not working for me in ME 2. Maybe I could be enjoying myself more at a lower difficulty, but we gotta unlock those cheevos, you know?

Re: Reaction: This Year's Shaky E3 Was Held Up By Xbox And Nintendo

RazputinAquato

E3 was very disappointing in my opinion. I'm obviously not talking about Xbox's presentation, which was fantastic. Ubisoft and Summer Game Fest were okay, but everyone else sucked. They just had too little to show, which might be yet another unfortunate effect of covid-19. The only games shown outside Xbox presentation that picked my interest are Elden Ring and Guardians of the Galaxy.

As for Nintendo, well, I do own a Nintendo Switch and I enjoyed Breath of the Wild and Mario Odissey, but I eventually got pissed at Nintendo for a number of reasons, including controller drift and some weird issues with the software of the console that prevents me from updating and downloading some digital games. My Switch is currently retired, back in its box, and I don't intend to buy anything Nintendo ever again.

So I'm bitter and salty and completely biased against Nintendo. I watched their presentation for two reasons: (1) I had a sliver of hope that Hollow Knight: Silksong could show up and (2) my brother is a big fan of Nintendo and I wanted to watch with him. It's funny that my brother hated Nintendo's show. The only thing that pleased him was Metroid, but he was very disappointed on how little Zelda's trailer showed and it looked more like DLC for the first game than a sequel. And most other announcements were either underwhelming or remasters or things that were already announced before somewhere else.

I'm surprised at how many Nintendo fans seem to be pleased with that presentation.

Re: BioWare's New Boss Is Aiming To 'Rebuild The Studio's Reputation'

RazputinAquato

I just finished Mass Effect 2 in Legendary Edition and I'm a little disappointed. Don't get me wrong, this game has a very good story and great characters (I'd kill for my gal Tali). However 95% of the game is a mediocre cover shooter taking place in corridor after corridor. Gears of War does it much better.

Does it get better in Mass Effect 3 or can I expect the same boring gameplay?

Re: It's Official, Microsoft Is Bringing Next-Gen Games To Xbox One Via The Cloud

RazputinAquato

@lokozar you know what? I care for exclusives less and less. What I care for is: "is it coming to Game Pass?" Even better if it's day one. Xbox 1st party games are great because they're always day and date on Game Pass, and they just happen to be exclusives. But I'm equally stoked for Back 4 Blood. The fact that it's on Playstation doesn't devalue it. Actually, it's the other way around: I feel I'm getting a better deal than other people and that's a weirdly satisfying feeling

Re: Todd Howard Suggests Bethesda Leaving PlayStation Behind Will Make For A 'Better Product'

RazputinAquato

@nofriendo or you could not do that and make Playstation fans:
a) buy it on PC instead
b) buy an Xbox
c) subscribe to Xbox Game Pass and play it on Xcloud
d) do not buy and cry me a river

There's no lack of options for PS fans and either (a), (b) or (c) are huge wins for Microsoft anyway. (d) is unfortunate, but that's a wager every game company makes — you don't see Sony releasing Bloodborne on competing platforms.

Re: Xbox Scoops 'Best Presentation' At E3 2021, Forza Horizon 5 Wins 'Most Anticipated Game'

RazputinAquato

@LtSarge good point. However, I got curious about whether Forza Horizon 5 is more popular than Halo Infinite or not and made a search in Google Trends. Halo has been consistently more sought in Google for the last year, but if you look at the past 7 days, Forza got slightly ahead, perhaps due to being a new announcement. However, it doesn't come near the amount of interest that Halo Infinite's 2020 trailer sparked.

Re: Todd Howard Suggests Bethesda Leaving PlayStation Behind Will Make For A 'Better Product'

RazputinAquato

@Chaudy @DDJT you know, in Brazil the official price of both the Xbox Series X and the PS5 is R$ 4599,00. In a direct conversion to dollars, that's US$ 903,38. Remember that we're talking about an emergent country whose average income is about US$ 270 per month.

So I can think of many people who cannot own both consoles all over Latin America, Eastern Europe, India, Africa, etc.

In fact, the Xbox Series S is a godsend. It costs "only" US$ 549,81 down here. That's the console I purchased and it's been the #1 best selling videogame console in the Brazilian Amazon store for quite a while, even beating Nintendo Switch.

Re: Xbox Scoops 'Best Presentation' At E3 2021, Forza Horizon 5 Wins 'Most Anticipated Game'

RazputinAquato

@LtSarge keep in mind that the awards were not based on popular vote, but a panel of editors of gaming sites. That explains why Halo Infinite was chosen the most anticipated Xbox/Bethesda game whereas Forza Horizon was chose the most anticipated overall. They simply wanted to highlight more than one game from Xbox's presentation, so I wouldn't read too much into this.

Re: Rumour Mill Continues To Suggest Xbox Might Have Acquired More Studios

RazputinAquato

@UltimateOtaku91 currently Xbox is 3rd place in the console game market, hence I don't think we're anywhere near a monopoly.

However, if videogames move towards the cloud and subscription services like Game Pass, Xbox could very well become a very dominant player — and Microsoft is definitely striving for that. It's a shame that Google Stadia is not trying to seriously compete on that area.

Re: Rumour Mill Continues To Suggest Xbox Might Have Acquired More Studios

RazputinAquato

I want Microsoft to acquire IO for one simple selfish reason: there are so many versions of Hitman 3 in the Xbox Store that I simply don't know how to purchase them (Free Starter Pack, Standard, Deluxe, Trinity Pack, Access Pass for Hitman 1 & 2, separate DLC's for each level... WTF!). Going straight to Game Pass would surely make things easier.

Re: Talking Point: How Do You Feel About Cross-Gen Games?

RazputinAquato

Last gen is not holding back current gen. Some current gen features, like FidelityFX are just starting to get available for developers, who are not yet familiar with new tech and engines like Unreal 5 anyway.

In the meantime, while devs are still learning how to develop for next gen, it's totally natural that most games will be cross gen. That's even desirable, since in the consumer side, shortages have prevented people from purchasing the newest consoles.
