It's time for the final couple of Xbox Game Pass arrivals in May 2023, and we're finishing things off in great fashion today with two new Xbox releases, including one that was previously a contender for the best video game of 2021!
That game is Chicory: A Colorful Tale, which is only now debuting on Xbox following its arrival for various other platforms a couple of years ago. The other is Farworld Pioneers, described as an "open-world galactic sandbox". This title was left out of Microsoft's recent Xbox Game Pass roundup, but it's definitely dropping today!
You can check out a lot more information about both of these new Xbox Game Pass titles down below.
Chicory: A Colorful Tale - Console, PC
"A top-down adventure game in a coloring book world full of vibrant characters. Use painting powers to explore, solve puzzles, make friends, and draw on anything! From creators on Wandersong + Celeste."
Farworld Pioneers - Console, PC (12PM ET / 5PM BST)
"An open-world, sci-fi sandbox. Explore alone or with friends in multiplayer, build and manage colonies on alien planets and recruit AI survivors with unique personalities and skills. Craft, build, mine and farm together, or strap an electric death rifle to your back and take on the galaxy!"

I'm more curious about Chicory, but then again, I've just started playing Cassette Beasts, and it will take a while until I'm done with it.
Can Farworld Pioneers really be described as an "open-world galactic sandbox"? It just looks like a retro 2D side scroller to me. I’d certainly understand describing Starfield as an "open-world galactic sandbox" though.
Trying Chicory for sure!
Going to try Farworld. It's made by some of the people who made Starbound, and they thought hey we can do this even better. I aways thought Starbound had great potential but missed the mark, so I'm curious to see what these guys decided to do differently.
@Kaloudz the backlog is real. My storage card is busting at its seams but looking at some hard choices when Starfield 100+ GB releases
So...Terraria...in space? Looks very similar in a lot of ways, but that sounds just fine to me as I love Terraria! Definitely going to give that one a try.
@BobCoffee I have played a few hours of Chicory on Switch. It was fun. The mechanics and puzzles/challenges felt fresh and imaginative to me. The story was more interesting than I expected - at least as far as I had gotten. My son saved over my progress by mistake and I never restarted. I may give it another start on gamepass as xbox has become my primary gaming
