@themightyant regarding you last point I never enjoyed the yearly or every couple of years releases. I guess you’re referring to CoD? Halo and Battlefield usually had a few years to grab your attention.
I’m happy with games being around for a good while but it’s how they do it is the problem. Engine updates never happen and you have to accept even with updates at certain aspects of the game won’t change. Unless it’s Fortnite, which deserves is criticism but it has an evolving game engine.
Only thing I remember of RF4 when my wife posted it was one of the characters saying “it’s almost 9…” a lot. It became an in-joke in our house after that.
@Banjo- makes so much sense. Gotta put something in that Pirate Emporium, right? That's value right there.
I can't think of another company with so many "eras" like Rare. No other company really compares. Other companies like Nintendo, Sega, Capcom and Square Enix are still carrying on with at least some old IPs.
I got into Rare with the Super Nintendo but there was a Rare era before even then and there were several more after that. It's just such an interesting company. They just keep reinventing themselves for better or worse. I'm glad they're no longer the Kinect company though.
Nothing for me. Which is a shame because I was really excited for Cassette Beasts. Loved the world building nor couldn’t find the mental bandwidth to enjoy it. Sadly I bounced off.
Tears of Kingdom inevitably won out with my Halo Infinite weekly taking second place.
Tear of the Kingdom still. Think I’ll be playing this one for ages to come.
Started Diablo 4. My wife and I are lvl10 or 11. I’m playing Druid she’s playing Sorcerer.
Other than that not playing Halo Infinite but will be keeping an eye on HCS Dreamhack Dallas. Can’t believe Quadrant swept Optic in 3 games straight. There’s still today and tomorrow to go but that was pretty wow.
@NintendoByNature agreed. I’m not much for strategy and rpgs much any more. Top-down, third and first person adventures are where I spend my time these days.
I’m playing Aramagi 2 with my wife. It’s glitchy but there’s so much to like about this title. There needs to be more coop stealth games! I might give Unity a try if the servers are still up. Or Monaco.
Also playing BotW. Just got to Gerudo Town. I love this game so much but cooking is a chooooorrrrrrre.
@NintendoByNature I have to agree about AW1. Loved it back in the day. There’s still a charm about it but I’ve not found myself coming back as soon as I got to Grit in the campaign. I like Grit I think I just have more interesting games to play.
I’m not too disappointed I got it with the Switch Online voucher and TotK.
It’s going to start off with a bit of action you worry if the hero will make it in the end the characters are sitting idle in the middle of the screen while they rip space & time in two with garlic and throwing knives.
@Moonglow we're not sure how much Microsoft is to blame but a pretty consistent theme coming from ex-343 staff is that higher ups were a big issue.
I think in general 343 are turning it around now. They definitely have some passionate team members who want to deliver. Even to people like Frank O'Connor, Bonnie Ross and Kiki Wolfkill I wish success in the future. I think they have passion and drive but I think that it would have been better served in a new IP not Halo.
I can see why this something people would enjoy but I can’t see myself playing it.
As for IGN gameplay quality there was the notorious Halo Infinite pre-launch gameplay on Streets where they walked along the map with a plasma pistol on charge up burning through energy. Nobody expects eSports level gameplay from IGN but it was a bit jarring.
@Nic-Noc20th-C My Dad loves two types of game; Golf and Assassin’s Creed. He didn’t enjoy 2K’s efforts as much last year but is excited to get another EA golf game.
@Krzzystuff I've seen some min-max guides online but it usually comes at a cost of other player activities which can lead to a negative experience for not only yourself but other people. YMMV though!
I think I’m at about 80% but I’m considering doing a purge of stuff I’ve not played or played a whole ago.
I have maybe 5 good chunker games and the rest are indie titles with a couple AA titles thrown in for good measure.
I’m happy to delete and redownload something. Rocket League probably won’t get a reinstall any time soon but it always catches me out how big it is. I don’t know why I feel 25 GB is unjustifiable.
Actually no Sea of Thieves this week. Not sure if I said this last week but we’ve gone off it since the new season. Just not interested in the keep your head on a swivel world events.
I am still playing Halo Infinite. Up to lvl60 in the season 3 pass.
Also playing Pirate Outlaws. If you love Slay the Spire this might scratch that itch.
Finally I started Breath of the Wild for the first time in 5 years. Not sure if I’ll stick with it. My wife has been playing Immortals Fenyx Rising so I wanted to play the game that clearly inspired it.
@Chaudy call me starry eyed. I can’t speak for the devs but there’s likely some people who are making a spin in the Pokémon formula because it was there childhood and they have a vision. Not necessarily to be the next Pokémon global franchise.

Re: Two Xbox Game Pass Titles Get September 2023 Release Dates
I hope Party Animals plays differently from Gang Beasts because that’s all I see when I hear about the game.
Re: Soapbox: I Hope Halo Infinite's New Progression System Keeps Me Hooked For Good
@themightyant yea, can’t argue there.

Re: Summer Game Fest 2023: Date, Start Times & What To Expect
@Tasuki well Summer Games Fest has been going for several years. It’s usually as-well-as.
Re: Summer Game Fest 2023: Date, Start Times & What To Expect
@S1ayeR74 honestly you're not missing out on much. It's better to have the playback and skip through the bits you don't want.
Re: Talking Point: Are You Picking Up Either Of These AAA Juggernauts On Xbox This Month?
Playing Diablo 4 with my wife it’s not too shabby.

@Decoy_Snake really though? I'm sure Rare really cares about their older IPs but they're basically cameos in Sea of Thieves.
Re: Rare's Everwild Potentially 'More Viva Piñata' Than Early Trailers Suggested
@mousieone this is the correct answer.
Re: Diablo 4 Dynamic Background Now Available On Xbox Series X And S
I was just reading that they’re working on two expansions to the game. That’s aside from the seasons they’re planning too.
Re: Our Predictions For The 2023 Xbox Games Showcase
I just want a bit of Halo.

Re: Xbox Adds Some Wild Game Pass Categories, Including One For Titles That Show Character Legs
It’s a bit of fun and I’m here for it.
Re: Halo Infinite Season 4 Adds Infection Mode This June
@Krzzystuff the campaign (white) weapons are so much fun. Hydra & needler are mindless fun. I love it.
And those weapons are in arena 4v4 with super fiesta too!
Re: These 20+ Games Are Coming To Xbox Next Week (May 22-26)
Cassette beeeeeeasts!!!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 20-21)
More Tears of the Kingdom. Unlikely to get any Halo Infinite in this weekend but if another game got a look in that’d be it.
Re: Halo Infinite Season 4 Adds Infection Mode This June
Never understood the appeal of infection. They’ve done a interesting job of differentiating it from previous versions though.
I heard some leaks of Jeff Steitzers’ announcer voice lines for infection and we’re in for an absolute treat. That man is a legend.
Re: Titanfall Game Director Working On 'Something New' At EA
@TheSimulator a mech racing could be great!
Re: Xbox Game Pass: All Games Coming Soon In May 2023
Cassette Beasts is so far away! I’ll probably not beat it but I’ll at least give it a try at some point.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 22-23)
@Amigator Slay The Spire is the number one choice. Monster Train is fairly popular and then there’s Pirate Outlaws too which are all on Xbox.
Wildfrost just came out if you have steam or switch.
Post-Slay the Spire the scene really exploded.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 22-23)
Unfortunately nothing on Xbox.
I’m playing Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp and Breath of the Wild on Switch though.

Re: Halo's Longtime Franchise Director Has Left Microsoft
This is fantastic news! Frank O’Connor can pretty much be tied to the downfall of Halo post-Bungie through his public statements.
So glad Microsoft cleared house. I don’t think Infinite will ever regain popularity but it certainly won’t get worse.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 15-16)
Mostly Vampire Survivors with the new DLC out. A bit of Halo Infinite just for the fun of it because I’ve completed the season 3 pass.
Trying to sneak a little Breath of the Wild in here & there too.
Re: Xbox Announces Plans To Make New Dashboard Feel Less 'Crowded'
@NEStalgia it’s turning the thing off that does it for me. There’s a million buttons down, by default, that I just don’t care about.
Makes me appreciate the Xbox & Switch UIs.
Re: PSA: These 10+ Xbox Games Will All Likely Launch On Ubisoft Plus
@UltimateOtaku91 it’s just too easy isn’t it? 🤣
Re: PSA: These 10+ Xbox Games Will All Likely Launch On Ubisoft Plus
I’d probably spend $18 to try Settlers and other titles then wait until the inevitable 70% off sale.
“Beyond Good And Evil 2” you sure that one will still come out before the service gets retired?
Re: Microsoft Seemingly Prototyping New Windows Mode For Handheld Gaming

We're truly in the silver age of throw it at a wall and see what sticks phase of live service games.
Re: Redfall Raw Gameplay Shows More Authentic Look At Arkane's Xbox Shooter
@LordFunkalot yea, it’s awful and honestly I feel it does it harm than good with gameplay of this quality of people are in the fence about a game.
The Halo Infinite gameplay was truly awful but I was always going to play the game.
Re: Redfall Raw Gameplay Shows More Authentic Look At Arkane's Xbox Shooter
@kungfumongoose I didn't see it but you should check out IGN playing Halo Infinite. I don't know why anyone would pay for that.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 8-9)
A bit of Halo Infinite. I’m at lvl90 in the season 3 pass now. Also Vampire Survivors again. Had 3 runs go well in a row. Feeling untouchable!
I’ve also started Kingdom Rush: Frontiers on the Switch. Got Kingdom Rush: Origins queued up to but probably won’t start that until next week or so.
Re: Free Play Days: Try These Xbox Games For Free (April 6-9)
@Nic-Noc20th-C My Dad loves two types of game; Golf and Assassin’s Creed. He didn’t enjoy 2K’s efforts as much last year but is excited to get another EA golf game.
Re: No Man's Sky Unleashes Massive 'Interceptor' Update, Now Live On Xbox Game Pass

Re: Starfield Dev Talks Sci-Fi Inspirations Including Star Wars, Aliens & More
I’m hopefully for a "By Grabthar's Hammer... What a Savings..." reference then!
Re: Xbox Game Pass Kicks Off April With Two Surprise Arrivals
@AverageJoseph no clue. Have you tried Pirate Outlaws? It came out last week week. Feels like pirate Slay the Spire. A lot of content too!
Re: Xbox Game Pass Kicks Off April With Two Surprise Arrivals
I’ll probably give Loop Hero tonight after finishing my Halo Infinite weeklies.
Re: Starfield Leak Reveals First Look At Stunning New Xbox Controller
I don’t usually get impressed by controller designs but that’s got my attention.
Re: Talking Point: Xbox Series X|S Owners, How's Your Storage Looking In 2023?
I think I’m at about 80% but I’m considering doing a purge of stuff I’ve not played or played a whole ago.

I’m happy to delete and redownload something. Rocket League probably won’t get a reinstall any time soon but it always catches me out how big it is. I don’t know why I feel 25 GB is unjustifiable.
