We've got two more games arriving as part of the Xbox Game Pass June 2023 lineup today!
The first of these is Rune Factory 4 Special, which started life as a Nintendo 3DS exclusive back in the early 2010s before eventually getting enhanced (hence the "Special" name), ultimately releasing on Xbox One in late 2021.
The other is Stacking, which was also first released back in the early 2010s by the now Xbox-owned Double Fine Productions, who you may know for such classics as Psychonauts 2 and Brutal Legend.
We've included more information about today's Xbox Game Pass titles down below.
Rune Factory 4 Special - Console, PC, Cloud
"After falling from the sky and landing on the back of a friendly dragon, the young hero or heroine is invited to live in the local castle and, as a newly designated ruler, begins their life anew while developing the town, exploring nearby dungeons, and cultivating the soil. Start an exciting new life and embark on a grand adventure in this beloved entry in the Rune Factory series!"
Stacking - Console, Cloud
"From Tim Schafer’s Double Fine Productions, explore a vintage world inhabited by living Russian stacking dolls as you jump into more than 100 unique dolls and use their special abilities to solve a wide variety of puzzles & challenges."

Oooo! I might have to take a look at RF4 then, I quite liked Stardew Valley.
Only thing I remember of RF4 when my wife posted it was one of the characters saying “it’s almost 9…” a lot. It became an in-joke in our house after that.
@Kaloudz
Interesting maybe I need to give it another shot. Stardew Valley ruined all other farming games for me. I used to be big into Harvest Moon and such but I just can’t go back now. I did try a little of RF4 but I found the farming a bit frustrating to control in some ways so I dropped it.
Play Stacking.
This game is one of a kind
Such fond memories of RF4, one of the most memorable experiences. I happen to remember out of chance I was playing that the day the X1X had its "highest quality pixels anyone's ever seen" E3 reveal, lol.
Shame RF5 was a total technical cluster. An xbox port of that would be a dream so it's not a 15fps slideshow, I couldn't even play it.
I remember seeing a trailer for Stacking but then never saw it ever again.....forgot it had ever existed. I'm curious about that.
IMO 3DS still remains the greatest platform, ever. Its library is one of a kind and it just never quit.
Really glad to see Rune Factory come to Xbox. No clue if I’ll have time to play it anytime soon, but love seeing more JRPGs enter the ecosystem, and directly into Game Pass on top of that!!!
@NEStalgia I’m sure Nintendo has a time lock on RF5, but should this GP deal work well for both, the publisher and Xbox, I am sure we can then expect RF5 to show up the same way after the exclusivity deal is over. Same story likely with Shin Megami Tensei V.
Its little drops like these that make me feel glad I keep renewing my GP sub.
I’m not a farming sim guy so usually that it what I say … stacking looks interesting- how am I supposed to play all these games with something shadow dropping in a couple days???
@Tharsman There may have been a time lock, but I get the sense the game is just technically rough enough it's more or less abandoned as a loss. It would be cool if it got a better port, but it just comes across as a game that kind of failed on its own. I think it NEEDS a PS/XB port to even be playable TBF.
@AlwaysPlaying FWIW Rune Factory isn't just a farming sim. it's an dungeon crawling action-RPG looter with social sim base play all built around a farming sim. In the postgame you're fighting damage sponge dragons. That ohko you too easily. Want better swords? Grow more turnips.
Wow, I remember playing Staking on the 360. I don't like puzzle games normally but that was a fun one. Would highly recommend.
