It's time for the weekend! If you're interested in checking out what's new on Xbox over the next couple of days, we've got more Xbox Game Pass additions, a selection of Free Play Days titles, a free open beta for Street Fighter 6, and another ridiculously large set of deals including a big backwards compatible sale!
Here's what we're playing this weekend:
Fraser Gilbert, Editor
So, I've just finished the game that I couldn't talk about from last week, which means I can finally get stuck into The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on Nintendo Switch. Alongside that, I also plan to check out the Street Fighter 6 open beta, and I'd also like to return to a bit of Red Dead Redemption 2 over the next couple of days.
Additionally, I dipped into the massive batch of Xbox sales this week by purchasing A Plague Tale: Innocence, which I've been meaning to do for a while. I never played it while it was on Game Pass, but now I really want to try Requiem, and everyone's telling me I need to play Innocence first - so that's what I'm going to do!
Have a good weekend, folks.

I too have dipped into this week's Xbox sales, but that huge backwards compatibility promotion is what caught my eye the most. I decided that for less than £4 it was worth snagging a digital copy of Alan Wake to finally replay the game at 60FPS. Yes, there's a remaster now but frame rate is king, so, the FPS Boost patch will do me just fine!
I've already begun playing Remedy's Xbox 360 classic and will likely finish that through the weekend, alongside dipping back into some of the side content in Lego 2K Drive. I wasn't blown away by this new open world racer, but it's good fun and definitely worth a bit more exploring beyond the main campaign.
Have a good gaming weekend, Xbox fans!

Ahoy PX Folks! This weekend I’ll be picking up my fancy new Limited Editon TOTK OLED Switch to create absolute monstrosities using Link’s Ultrahand ability in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Oh, and making sure I've used all of my Zelda Amiibo cards each day so I can fill my stable with several Epona clones.
Outside of the weekend Linkscapades, I’ll be booting Gears 5 to nab a few achievements I’m close to getting. I might even dabble in the Street Fighter 6 open beta... Or, if I’m really lucky, I can nab a few friends to give Omega Strikers a go!
Happy gaming!

SWITCH
Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - I'm absolutely loving this game! Probably more so than Breath of the Wild so far!
3DS
Nothing on here this weekend.
PS5
GTA Online with friends later.
PC
Nothing on here this weekend.
MOBILE
Pokemon GO - the Fennekin community day! Finally I'll be able to get Delphox!
Have a great weekend everyone!
Playing through Guardians of the Galaxy, so good.
On Xbox I want to give weird west a try on Gamepass, watched a video of it through the week and it looks like my kinda thing.
Supraland: Six Inches Under for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the first game.
Likely finishing up the last side quests on Dead Island 2 which has been a blast to play.
Xbox Series X - Rocket League aka my favourite multiplayer game
PlayStation 5 - Hogwarts Legacy
I finally caved this week and bought Afterimage, which is a really good metroidvania and has lovely graphics. Still playing Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Not sure how far from the end I am but I’m quite a way into it now. Once I finish that I can start Zelda ToTK, which is currently sitting there shouting “Play me! Play me!” 🙂
Like so many of us, my gaming time has been completely taken over by The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. I’ve put at least 25hrs in this past week and I hope to find the time for a few hours more over the course of the weekend.
Although I haven’t played anything but Zelda since last Friday, I’m hoping to find the time to fire up the Series X and play some more of my favourite palate cleanser, PowerWash Simulator. Maybe some Forza Horizon 5, too. Maybe. But with the Depths to contend with, I’m not banking on it!
I will surely be playing Zelda for the next two months. Lol
I'll be continuing to try and beat the last boss on Trek to Yomi (must've tried 50+ times so far) and chipping away at my recently started career mode on FIFA 23 ( I only got the game when it came to EA play, so very early stages so far)
Happy gaming everyone 👍👍
This weekend is dedicated to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. I apologize in advance if this is long and tedious.
I have spent 20hrs + in this game and I haven’t done much of anything yet (I’ve wanted to spend more time with it, but alas, I work full time and I’m married with a child) which is not a bad thing. I’ve done a handful of shrines, completed one main quest after receiving the paraglider - the one involving the Hebra Mountains. Other than that, I’ve done nothing but explore and experience the game at my own pace, in my own unique and personal expedition.
I’m not going to sugarcoat it - this might be the greatest game ever made, and that is surprising to me because I was lukewarm on BoTW. Here, the majority of elements that I wasn’t keen on in BoTW have been revamped with something I thoroughly enjoy: rewarding exploration. In the first game, exploration wasn’t exciting because all it led to was a shrine, or a treasure chest that had five arrows in it, but it took a lot of work to get it. The risk vs. reward wasn’t worth it.
In this game, exploration is so much more rewarding. You can discover caves and wells, some of which contain side quests, shrines, and extra areas to explore if you look closely for destructible walls; or just an enchanting view that creates an innate reaction to reach that location but you’ll end up getting sidetracked because there is a mystery around every corner that is provided a genuine sense of wonder. Everything seems to have depth and layers to it the more you peel away at it.
I want to bring up a slight spoiler (I don’t know how to fade it out; apologies in advance) - I was exploring a location near a sky view tower. It’s a well hidden cave. As I trekked my way down to the bottom I discovered a shrine. It was on the other side of the cave, upon a ledge you’d have to climb up to. When I jumped down to make my way forward, I got ambushed by a group of gloom hands. I panicked, of course, and used a lot of my weapons and arrows to dismantle them. I thought, “That was tough, but I pulled through, despite losing a few hearts to the gloom.” Immediately after killing them, a boss fight triggered and it was a Phantom Ganon that was in the form of the gloom. It was such a surprising moment - an Elden Ring-ish type of discovery - that blew me away.
And these types of moments keep happening. Again. And again. This game is a GOAT. The Last of Us has always been my favorite game of all time, and I never thought anything could surpass it due to how I connected to it on so many different levels - but ToTK might overtake that spot, which is wild because I haven’t even scratched the surface of this game.
More Tears of the Kingdom. Unlikely to get any Halo Infinite in this weekend but if another game got a look in that’d be it.
Just finished Mass Effect 2 and started Mass Effect 3. First play through of the ME games and I must say they are really really good.
@BlackMayge I’m looking forward to playing ToTK! Like you, I was lukewarm to BoTW and didn’t even finish it. But I succumbed to the ToTK hype and bought it. I just wanna finish SW Jedi survivor first because I know ToTK will eat up a lot of time!
I tried the Street Fighter 6 open beta last night. I don't think it's a game for me. It might be more fun if I was playing against friends, or even against the computer, but I uninstalled it fairly quickly.
In a fighting game mood, I also booted up Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe which I've never played before. I thought it might be like Injustice, which I loved. It is like Injustice in many ways, but it's also pretty different. One key difference is that Injustice is a great game, and MKVSDCU is somewhere between lackluster and terrible in just about every way possible.
Of course I'm also going through Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom which is an absolute blast.
Xbox - Jedi Survivor
PS5 - Ghost of Tsushima
Like many. TOTK will occupy much of my gaming time. Only 20 hrs and have barely scratched the surface. Probably finish out training on Trackmania and see where that leaves me. I have zero history w that franchise; the feel is pretty good imo. Also dip into Fuga 2. Doing about a chapter a day as my dedicated Rewards popper.
Hopefully I get some actual time to play TotK today. Most of my sessions have been around 30 minutes long, but I really need some time to sink in and marinade for a bit.
Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for me. Absolutely superb game that deserves all the praise it gets. My Xbox isn't totally useless though as I'm replaying Evil Within and shall get an hour or two played.
Pretty much only totk. I can't put the game down.
Finishing up the 2nd playthrough of bloodborne, up to Maria now then gonna do my weeklys in fh5 and some hifi rush
I’m completely absorbed into Tears of the Kingdom, leaving little room for anything else. I haven’t been this enthralled by a game in years — I love it significantly more than Breath of the Wild.
I dip in and out of the SF6 beta (though I admit on the PS5 side as I like my fighters over there) but it’s looking GREAT. I didn’t want to play too much ahead of its actual release though.
Started TOTK on PC but not far yet, also started Somerville, the controls are as terrible as the reviews said. Still apending a lot of tme going through Monster Hunter Sunbreak with friends.
Jedi Survivor and Midnight Suns if I get a chance to play anything this weekend.
I've been playing Civilization 6 for the last couple of weeks. Also, Transport Fever 2 and Anno 1800. As well as my usual staple diet of No Man's Sky. Too many "long play" games! I bought Red Dead Redemption 2 about 3 weeks ago and haven't even looked at it yet!
Totk and some Blue Dragon when I need a break from sky diving lol
I'm playing Zelda TOTK, Amazing game, What a masterpiece..
After 120 hours I’m in the last Forbidden West mission, so I can finally seriously delve into the Series X with GP ultimate I bought last February. I think I’ll start with Wo Long. Other suggestions are welcome though! This is my first Xbox, so I haven’t played any of the exclusives besides the first Halo last month.
I gave up on Redfall this morning and deleted it. I got to Miss Whisper and decided I was not having fun anymore. Both Bloody Tom, but more so this boss, feel like they were designed for a co-op experience. The numerous bugs, glitches and hard crashes have also ruined the experience.
For those holding out for a 60fps patch for the game, I would be waiting until everything else is fixed before diving in.
It’s an interesting premise, but the whole experience just seems inadequately realised. There was so much potential here. We shall see if there is a road map for support for the title.
While many are playing Tears of the Kingdom, I’m playing Breath of the Wild. I started playing it on a Wii U and then got a Switch, figured I might as well start from scratch but never got around to it. Well, now I’m getting around to it and hope to beat it (beat all the 5 divine beasts, get all the memories… maybe not do all the content… 🙃) before I even open my copy of ToTK.
Currently playing Chester Cheetah's Cheeto Hunt - Definitive Edition and Papa Sloppy's Chili Cook Off
Uncharted: Golden Abyss (Vita) - I loved the boat segment!
Imperia Online (Windows Phone) - Just started this one after finishing up on Jetpack Joyride.
Hi there fellow gamers.
STREET FIGHTER 6 OPEN BETA....... That´s it for the weekend 😉
Cheers and happy gaming weekend to us all
@BRT15 Hi there friend.
Another Mass Effect fan in the making perhaps?
I´m a huge fan of the franchise, especially the the original trilogy.
So much so that I played 3 times on Xbox 360, 3 times on PS3 and two more times on PS5 with the Legendary Edition.
Yeah, I´m that kind of person.
Mass Effect 3 jorney is fantastic. Hopefully you have all the dlc, especially From Ashes dlc and The Citadel dlc.
Both are a absolute must for a more enjoyable and very amusing playtrough.
Cheers and have a good one. I should go 😜
Bought control for 10 dollars and im enjoying it so far. Im digging the story and combat.
Also a bit of midnight suns, im like 50hs in...kinda dragging to be honest but it still fun. The story completely lost me tbh.
Currently playing Redfall on Xbox, doing all side missions of Burial Point before moving forward with the story. Also on Xbox playing Quantum Break for the second time making different choices for the complete experience.
Ztotk sorry xbox, when I will be tired of this insane Zelda game I will be back.
I've been playing Ni No Kuni II. I didn't think I'd like it, but after giving it a go on gamepass, I was really getting into it.
I've finished Ghostwire Tokyo this week and I've now started on Gotham Knights so I'll be playing more of that and also more of the new Fall Guys season.
@RaZieLDaNtE I don't know if I'll go back and play all of them from the start again as I've already put in 100+ hours in the Legendary Edition so far but definitely enjoying my time with it. The story and cast of characters are really well written. Also it gives me a bit of The Expanse vibes ( a show I absolutely love).
I must say though, I'm slightly dreading the ending of Mass Effect 3 cause of how well documented it is as one of the worst/unsatisfactory endings in a game...
@BRT15 Hey friend.
If your playing the Legendary Editon, then you have all the dlc as well as the Directors Cut wich was added after the game was out.
As for the endings...... I didn´t know what to think at first.
Had a lot of conversations with friends of mine that also played to finish and it was weird. We felt a little lost.
I´m not gonna spoil anything though. I hate spoilers myself.
All I´m going to say is that the Directors Cut and the other dlc, such as Leviathan did help quite a bit.
And when I last finished the Legendary Edition, it actually felt good. Not great, but good.
The Citadel dlc also helps a lot in my opinion.
One of the best and funniest dlc I´ve played.
I sugest you play that for last, before the point of no return.
Cheers mate
I just beat this:
https://www.purexbox.com/forums/px_other_gaming/last_game_you_beat?start=400#reply-408
I finished Marvel Midnight Suns, including dlc, which I got late in my playthrough. I started the stealth dropped Supraland sequel on gamepass today and am enjoying it so far. I missed the first game, but heard it was good. Fun so far, it reminds me of Tinykin a bit in vibe, which was a fun game
Been playing a bit of the SFVI beta, but otherwise Forza Horizon 5 and some older Lego games.
@RaZieLDaNtE yeah I wanna see how it plays out but as I was saying I'm a little wary of it being a bit of a disappointment. Either way the journey with the 3 games have been very very good. I think the thing that gets me and that I haven't seen it done in any other game is the idea of bringing your choice from one game to the next. It makes the play through so personal and makes you really think about your decisions cause it will be carried forward.
Just stumbled upon this piece on Eurogamer where they spoke to some of the key folk at BioWare about Mass Effect:
https://www.eurogamer.net/making-mass-effect-from-the-birth-of-a-trilogy-to-andromeda-and-beyond
Have a good one mate.
@BRT15 Hey friend and thanks for the article.
This is just my kind of reading.
Yeah, this trilogy is one of a kind with player choices that mean something, but also matter in the next games.
It is the reason why it has so much replayability and one of the reasons why I have finished the ME trilogy so many times.
Cheers and all the best
@RaZieLDaNtE so mate, I wanted to finish the game before coming back and replying to ya. I thought the ending was good and one that gave choice as is to be expected from Mass Effect. I read online that the original games ending was different and a lot was added to the endings over the years. So overall very happy with the series.
P.S. that cutscene at the start of the final mission with all the ships arriving at earth brought a tear to my eye after gathering over 7000 TMS. 🥹
@BRT15 Hey there friend and thanks for the reply.
Like I said before, the Directors Cut as well as the leviathan dlc really did help with the final mission and the multiple game endings.
Wich is why I did enjoyed the last two times I played the game.
But then again, I´m a huge ME fan. I can play these games any time, especially when there is nothing grabing me or when I need some confort and see some familiar faces.
Very glad you enoyed it. ME3 has so many great moments and seeing everyone coming together to help fight the Reapers in the end is indeed one of them.
Man I Love this franchise so much.
Hope Bioware will be able to deliver a good ME in the future.
Cheers and take care
@RaZieLDaNtE yeah I really enjoyed and can see why you're a big fan. As we talked about it, love how personal these stories are since it's carried over from game to game.
Can really see myself coming back to replay this in the future.
Now it's time for me to go back and rewatch The Expanse. ME gave me such Expanse vibes, another reason why I loved it.
