Mikami must be absolutely furious. He spent years nurturing the younger talent at Tango so that he could confidently leave it in good hands. Now it's gone. Nice one, Microsoft.
Consoles will eventually disappear. It won't be for a while yet, but I imagine this is what Microsoft is prepping for right now.
This is the thing with the so-called "console war". It's all seemingly based on which platform sells more hardware, but ultimately, it won't matter in the long run. Xbox isn't going anywhere and, if anything, it's likely setting itself up to be an absolute juggernaut in the gaming space, more than it already is.
Xbox bringing its games to other platforms doesn't mean it's "conceding defeat" as many are mistakenly claiming. It's simply pivoting to a much different business strategy, like Nintendo did with the Wii. It's not about beating Sony. It's about making as much money as possible. That's all.
It's absolutely fantastic. Enough has been changed that it feels fresh, but Capcom has retained a lot of what made the original so great. I can't wait to play more.
I think because Mirage is meant to be returning to the franchise's roots, people must have gotten their wires crossed somewhere and assumed a remake was in development.
I'm not fussed either way; as mentioned in the article, the original AC looks and plays great on the Series X!
@Kaloudz Yes to the first question, no to the second. MGS Collection is fantastic as it was handled by the exceptionally talented Bluepoint Games.
Silent Hill is still botched, but in my opinion the games are perfectly playable if you're unable to access it elsewhere.
@UltimateOtaku91 He's not currently working on God of War, nor any other game for that matter. Doesn't make his comments any less "tactless", but he's free to say whatever he likes.
Nice work here, PJ! Sad to hear the story might tread some overly familiar ground; I was hoping it would hit a few nostalgic beats but ultimately drive the narrative forward.
Kotick has to be on his way out. When the heads of both Microsoft and Sony denounce the actions of a publisher's CEO, then his time is up. You don't mess with those relationships.
The gameplay is fantastic, as expected from the flight tests. The Battle Pass progression is undoubtedly a bit slow if you're just playing organically. If you focus on completing the challenges, you can level up reasonably quickly.
@RedKnight34 Because the campaign mode is likely where the marketing will be focused in the coming days/weeks. TV ads, billboards, etc... You don't tend to see ads based on multiplayer modes.
San Andreas is good in performance mode. The cars handle much better, aiming is improved, and little tweaks like GPS waypoints are great additions. Visually, they made some weird decisions; the faces are really hit and miss.
I'd love it if Jega turns out to be an Elite from a previous game. Like, maybe he escaped the original Halo installation in Combat Evolved and is now seeking his revenge against the Chief. One can dream!
As for me, I'm not massively keen on this. I find a lot of statues and replicas look a bit cheap and tacky. The best collectors edition I bought recently was for Metroid Dread; steelbook, art cards, and a full-sized art book. Perfect.
Such a beautiful piece. It really highlights just how important the marines are to the series. Halo 5 definitely lost sight of this, so it's great to see more of a focus this time around.
Lots of horror movies this weekend! The Wailing is a great one if you've got a few hours spare. In terms of gaming, I'm currently making my way through Dying Light.
Loving Escharum already. The writing seems to be leaps and bounds ahead of Halo 5, which always felt stiff and clinical.
Edit: I'd recommend folks read Shadows of Reach for a bit of extra background on Escharum's place in the Halo universe. Not the best book in the series, but worth a read.
@Royalblues They will, I have full confidence that the visuals will be phenomenal. 343 will have spent a good deal of time making sure this showcase is absolutely on point. The only hope is whether the final product will display the same level of polish.
I've gone back to Dying Light, which still looks fantastic six years later. I might give House of Ashes a go, it's definitely nice to see the more positive response for this one.
Absolutely understandable, particularly when you consider Joe Staten's history with the franchise. Those who kept an eye on the development of Halo 2 know how much a hastily built demo completely derailed their progress.
Let's just give them the time to finish the game. Heck, I'm absolutely fine going in as blind as possible.

Re: Talking Point: Would You Like To See Xbox Focus On A New Fallout Game?
I would, but I fear it would be too much of a good thing. We've got the TV series alongside the Fallout 4 upgrade, so I think that will do me for now.
I wouldn't say no to a remaster/remake of Fallout 3, though.
Re: Talking Point: Which Backwards Compatible Xbox Games Still Hold Up In 2024?
Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved and Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 are both timeless and play just as well now as they did back in 2005/2008.

Great review as always, PJ.
Resident Evil 4 is, alongside REmake, my favourite game of all time. I can't wait to experience this remake!

Ohhh good God, this isn't good.

Oof, a significant blow for physical media!

Re: Phil Spencer: Xbox Is 'Refilling The Pipe' With Ambitious New Ideas For The Future
@Rmg0731 Good job they have Perfect Dark, Elder Scrolls, Starfield, Hellblade, State of Decay, Avowed, RedFall, Fable, etc... Quite a few.
Re: Some Lucky Xbox Fans Already Have The New Series X Mini Fridge
Not for me at all. I’m not sure I understand the hype around these, other than the usual ‘FOMO’ phenomenon.
Re: New Halo Infinite Comparison Footage Shows What A Difference A Year Makes
I love Escharum's monologue so much. There's more character and emotion in those few moments than the entirety of Halo 5.

Re: Microsoft Is Pushing Xbox's Phil Spencer To Think About Succession
This is absolutely a good idea. Phil won't be there forever, and he'll need to have a think about how his vision will be carried forward.
Re: Xbox's Anniversary Controller Contains A Hidden Message From Phil Spencer
Got this coming tomorrow; can't wait!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 13-14)
Lots of Forza Horizon 5 this weekend! I've also started Psychonauts 2 again; that game just brings me so much joy.
Best of luck to @Flurbdurb on your next adventure, you'll be sorely missed!

Re: Halo Infinite 'Collector's Edition' Quietly Revealed By Walmart
@Fiendish-Beaver That would have been Halo 3

Re: Gallery: 343 Shows Off More Stunning Halo Infinite Artwork, Renders And Screenshots
They've absolutely nailed the art direction here. I'm so happy the Sangheili are no longer the hulking monstrosities depicted in Halo 4/5.
Re: Xbox Engineers Jokingly Switch Dashboard Font To Comic Sans
Nothing will top the usage of Comic Sans in the Silent Hill Collection; like, what were they thinking?
Re: Xbox Employees Receive Special, One-Of-A-Kind Custom Controllers
Pretty nice, indeed! I've got one of the 20th Anniversary controllers on pre-order; can't wait to get my hands on it.

Re: Destroy All Humans! 2 Is Getting A Remake For Xbox Series X, Series S
Cool, I'll get this! The first one is unashamedly ridiculous.
Re: Three More Games Are Now Available With Xbox Game Pass (September 16)
Superliminal is excellent, well worth playing. I may give I Am Fish a shot.
Re: Alan Wake Remastered Looks Set To Arrive This October For Xbox
Alan Wake is an absolute gem; a true original. It's one of my favourite games and I can't wait to give the remastered version a go.
