We highlighted a rumour here at Pure Xbox earlier this week that Halo Infinite might be gearing up to release its free-to-play multiplayer component as soon as this Monday, November 15th, but it seems that's no longer the case.
Influencer and known insider NateTheHate2, who "independently confirmed" the launch a couple of days ago, has told his followers that an "11th hour change" has caused the release to be delayed, but it will still be arriving in November:

This was always just a rumour, of course - but with apparent Xbox Store data also suggesting that a November 15th release was on the cards earlier this week, it seemed quite likely that this was going to come to fruition.
Alas, it sounds as though we shouldn't be getting our hopes up for a Halo Infinite multiplayer release this Monday, but if NateTheHate2's comments about a November launch are correct, we might not have to wait too much longer.

That rumour I started isn't happening. You couldn't make this stuff up.
Is it really considered delayed if the release date wasn't even officially confirmed. More like "Leakers got it wrong but let's blame the development team" Jesus, the state of them.
I'll be playing Halo on the date we all know. December 8th
I wouldn't call bull on this one yet, folks. A previous snapshot of the store data clearly stated a November 15th 'pre-order release date' for Halo Infinite's multiplayer (assuming that was the real deal). It's reportedly been changed back to December 8th now though.

It's a weird one.
@FraserG Pringles did a promotion a couple of days back saying that Halo Infinite was launching on the 15th as well, but took it down after a few hours.
I believe this site: https://www.pringles.com/us/halo.html Originally had a countdown to the 15th. The website is literally still called "Pringles Halo Infinite Countdown" but there isn't a countdown in sight anymore.
I'm pretty firmly in the camp of 343 intended to do this as a surprise release for the 20th anniversary (15th is Halo's 20th anniversary remember, it was a launch day game on Xbox). But something came up and delayed it, likely a bug.
This reminds me a little of when people get mad at Apple for not releasing they thing they never officially announced but was rumoured. 😆
@SpaceSamurai that’s so true. How can something be delayed if it was never announced. ?
@Zag_Man I'm totally with you on this one.
I don't want to be spoiled, in any way. I like to be surprised !
@Zag_Man Yeah, can totally understand that! If it is true, it would have been nice if it was kept under wraps until the 15th (or whatever the supposed date is now).
Very unlikely, but it would be really funny: so what if they told people who they thought might be leaking things that the release of multiplayer was delayed, but then they just released it Monday to bring back the surprise of the event.
With all the crappy, buggy releases as of late, I'd make sure the halo multiplayer releases with little to no problems. Like the old saying goes, "I'd rather have it done right, rather than right now"
Big question....
Did anyone play Master Chef Collection yesterday (11/13/21) and loading game up you got the splash screen artwork from what looks to be Destiny?
Happened every time. Wonder if that will be some kind of surprise news? Bungie crossover event? Bungie coming back to Microsoft in some manner? Or was just a glitch in loading up the game?
@FraserG my gripe with the headline and the messaging is that this happens all the time and no one ever finds out. Internal targets and plans for such dates are common on every single industry.
In most cases it’s wishful thinking and kept secret precisely because they are not sure it will be able to be achieved, prepare as they might (like internal metadata dates.) IMO, “delayed” should not be used unless the date was actually made public by the publisher. As it stands, best I can see is “didn’t pan out”.
Also need to keep in mind headlines like this hurt the publisher, reason they avoid making such statements public prematurely. Publicly announcing and then delaying a product can shake customer confidence on a brand or product.
@Tharsman Fair enough, I take your points on board! I specifically included "delayed" in speech marks to relay that I'm just passing the message on - it's the term that was used in the tweet above. That's also why I made sure the "Rumour" prefix was included as well, because I didn't want anyone to assume this was official information from 343.
What I really didn't want was for people to get the wrong idea and set expectations too high for tomorrow, especially considering this topic has been reported everywhere and been the talk of social media over the weekend. But I appreciate what you're saying 👍
Not sure if it was ever going to happen but even if it's hasn't gone to plan, it's alright. The official release is only like 3 weeks away. I don't think anything significant is going to happen tomorrow. Although I do predict new games for game pass being announced during the event and for them to include a lot of old titles via backwards compatibility
Wonder if insiders were “leaked” a new rumor of the delay just to try to keep some element of surprise when it actually does release tomorrow.
Okay, I like Nate but this is absurd. We know literally nothing.
I'll just wait till December and play the single player
Seems fine to me. After GTA "definitive" turned out to be such a mess I really don't want more rushed to market experiences.
New rumor is that it’s been fixed and still launching tomorrow. Guess we’ll see!

Newer tweets from NateTheHate2 also now saying it’s happening today.

@Enigk ironically, he was actually right.
@arlanzo A broken clock is right twice a day! They were right the first time and then talked themselves out of it.
Either way, good news it is out now so everyone can dive in.
