Yakuza Like a Dragon runs at 1440p/ 30fps and looked quite nice. Dirt 5 supposedly runs at 1440p, but dynamic resolution. According to Digital foundry it rarely made it to 1440p in this mode. I think squadrons has a 1440p mode too. So yeah, I guess we will have to see what it’ll be able to do once the devs get used to working with it

I’d love to play JSRF with a smooth frame rate again... the 360 emulation slows to a crawl on some levels. Another one I was hoping would run well on this was crazy taxi 3 but alas it’s not listed as “playable”

My game of The year as well! Haven’t been sucked into a long game like this (and actually beaten it) in quite a while. The characters and stories are so great! Looking forward to a sequel. Wonder if this game could create a bigger audience for Yakuza, similar to the Persona series that came to over take Shin Megami In popularity. Hopefully more people picked this up than would’ve otherwise due to being a Launch title.

I played a ton of retro games this year with the quarantine. Lots of fun Dreamcast and N64 games for me. A few Wii and 360 titles as well. Longest playtime was probably Yakuza, like a dragon. That one was so great!

It’s hard to resist some of these I own on other platforms (switch/steam), just to play on my shiny new Xbox. Thought I have to remind myself that some of these 360 games don’t look great at 720p on a 65” TV. And the PC versions run at higher resolutions. But no HDR and a pain to play on the big screen. Oye.

I remember the original had a few points in the beginning that you could get stuck. Totally worth using a guide to see all the levels. They are so creative and have different gameplay styles towards the end of the game that are a lot of fun. Such great character interactions and I love getting to literally explore their minds and find their “emotional baggage”.

After Cyberpunk debacle, I think it makes sense to release on series X first and then last gen later on. Also, I can wait as long as they need to make it good. I don’t really mess around with multiplayer, which seems to be the major focus of this game, anyway.

Still interested in this, hearing that there are more updates coming makes want to wait a bit before checking it out. Think this would be a good candidate for gamepass. I am looking forward to the 120hz mode

Loving Yakuza. I feel that fans of the persona series would have fun with this one. Im about 40 hours in and really enjoying both the gameplay and story. And the mini games are actually fun and worth playing!

Dirt 5 is also a fun racer. Surprisingly colorful for a game called “Dirt”.

I’ll probably double dip. I already have it on switch, but it’ll be cool to see in UHD

I picked up panzer dragoon though I already have a physical copy. Might do the same for Revengence and Oblivion. Is the Silent hill collection worth picking up? Never played those games past the first hour.

I think people on this site probably lean towards the X rather than the S. I got the S, since I missed out on the X during ore-orders. I plan to upgrade to the X when they are in stock again, probably around March or April. I love the form factor of the S, I just wish more games actually ran at 1440p as advertised. It’s weird to me that the console doesn’t run the One X versions of last gen games. So I voted for “pretty good”.

I was able to purchase this with points from my credit card; there was a discount on gamestop gift cards. The price is high, thought it is super stinking cute, super easy to set up, and doesn't cause there to be an extra corded-attachment hanging out of the xbox. I'm happy with the purchase.

I know it was recently delisted, but itd be nice if Forza horizon 3 got a 60fps patch. I’d also like to see a resolution bump for some visually interesting 360 games like geometry wars, Rez, child of Eden and Boom Boom Rocket.

Yeah the loading times are great. Also seeing original Xbox games at high resolutions is really cool! Does anyone know where I can find a list of Xbox 360 enhanced games? I could only find a list with all One X enhanced games ( XBone, 360, and original Xbox)

Sad this wasn’t ready at launch. I’m switching between Yakuza and Dirt 5, and it’s be nice to have quick resume for those games!

Question about VRR set-up. My TV supports freesync, will that work with the series S?

I’m a weirdo who is buying a series s and the 1 tb expansion card... only reason being that I’m planing to upgrade to the series x in February/March when they become More readily available. Then I can easily move over most of my games to the new console.

Arcade Rally racers are probably my favorite Racing Sub-genre. I’ve played and enjoyed most of the Dirt games and know I’ll have a blast with this one on the series S. Now I just have to decide between 120 and 60 FPS modes...

How about they set aside some percentage of stock for preorders and some for r in store sales like they currently do. With pre-orders, you get a window of 1-3 months of when you will receive it. Then they ship them out as more stock becomes available in the order that pre orders were received.

So maybe I didn’t order in time for launch day, but I’d get one in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th shipment from Microsoft. And just cancel it if you happen to find one sooner.

Do the new consoles support freesync like the One X did? I have a hdmi 2.0 TV that has Freesync and not VRR...

@FraserG which ones are coming to gamepass? I might snag some of the original Xbox games, but I’ll hold off if they are coming to gamepass

@Tharsman probably only if you plan to sit 2 feet away from your 75” 8k TV. At a certain point, out eyes can’t tell the difference. I think it’s after 10-12 feet you can’t tell the difference between 1440p and 4K on a screen that size. So I’m not sure how far it is for 8k..

Excited to try this one with Gamepass! Shinen makes greats games that run great on the hardware. I recently played through nano assault on the 3ds and it was still great! Also love Fast RMX by them.

I started this on PS4, but was a little bothered by the performance and controls. Nice that the next gen upgrade is free; I’ll jump back in when I eventually get the PS5 (or of it ever comes to gamepass)

I had a lot of fun with 3, but never tried New Vegas. Think it’s worth it to buy the GOTY edition of 4 to play on the series S? It’s 18$ on sale right now...

Tony hawk himself said in an interview that if this sells well maybe they’d think all out remastering 3 and 4. I imagine that would be anew game rather than DLC.

Jet Set Radio Future! Such unified visual and sound design. Would love to see this added to backwards compatibility. I’ve also heard outrun 2 is great, so I hope that one gets added too.

How do these play on console? I’d like to try them out again. I made it through Full Throttle on PC bet never got very far on the other 2.

I’ll take the 1440p mode personally. These games have never run great, but they are so fun that I can deal with 30fps.

@Menchi I’ll chalk it up to not wanting to spend the money to get a nice PC, so this level of performance will be exciting for me (since I don’t have a PC to compare it to).

I’ve only ever dabbled in low end gaming laptops. I find it time consuming and somewhat stressful to mess with Graphics settings on PCs in hopes of getting the best performance on limited hardware, so having a console that gives me a few (2-3) graphics settings to choose from is ideal for me!

I applaud Codemasters for getting a preview build out to give us an idea of how it will run. Coverage of this shows they are excited about their game and developing for the new consoles. Hope they don’t get slammed too by people trying to find fault with Next Gen consoles.

@Menchi @BAMozzy To me, 120fps at 1080-1440p Is pretty good for this early in the generation. I’m not expecting that type of frame rate at full 4K. I am just recently getting used to a 4K TV, and I don’t have any content that can run at 120fps currently Or any consoles that output at 4K for that matter. As a Day One experience, Dirt 5 will show off one of the more impressive features if the system!

@thejameswhogames @mehrannaseer Wise Words. I would benefit from your patience. If I do the upgrade route, I’ll probably loose 100-150$ in the process. So I have to decide if it’s worth it to play a few months earlier. Might just be to get through the quarantine Winter, for me at least.
