Re: Seven Games Are Confirmed For Xbox Game Pass In October So Far

Cherip-the-Ripper

@UndyingInsurgent95 no I doubt I'm buying anything new.
Tons of releases I'm interested in but none I desperately want to buy day one.
Especially Alan Wake 2, oh how I wish it had a physical release 😮‍💨
Might go for some games released earlier in the year, One Piece Odyssey, Forspoken, FFXVI, Remnant 2, Dead Island 2 or even your Atlas Fallen if the sales are good.
But even then, gamepass finally has a good influx of games so it'll probably tie me over for the rest of the year anyhow.

Re: Phil Spencer On Tokyo Game Show 2023: 'The Future For Xbox In Japan Is Bright'

Cherip-the-Ripper

He's been saying this for years dawg, what future is he even talking about at this point, evil skynet future, total recall future, Akira future?!?! 😂
I do wonder if we'll get a gamepass drop given how stacked the month already is, I've been praying for Tales of Arise for a while now and it would actually make sense now given the expansion, but not that big of a miss if they don't.

Re: Xbox Apparently 'Wants' To Overhaul Achievements, Someday

Cherip-the-Ripper

@Kaloudz

Most my rare achievements are unlocked simply because not a lot of people bother with side content etc... so I see it less as a rarity and more of a scarcity. If that makes sense?

Yh that makes a lot of sense, I've seen it mentioned before throughout the years. I've spoken to trophy hunters about it before, hence why trueachievement have their own score system and formulas for cheevs and whatnot which iirc was based on their actual difficulty.
Worth checking out if you haven't.
Also I suppose if you remove the rare cheevs on xbox, the whole thing might become a bit barebones 😭
On playstation you at least have bronze/silver/gold/plat.
Now whether you're against or for it, there's at least more to it in that way.
Maybe you've acquired some of my man Indy Jones tendencies and would like to see rare achievements in a museum instead 👀

Re: Xbox Apparently 'Wants' To Overhaul Achievements, Someday

Cherip-the-Ripper

@Kaloudz why? I feel like they could play a bit with the margins to denote what is and is not a rare cheev and I could be wrong because I've not gotten a cheev in a while but the different sound effect, if any, is pretty nice.
I would like to know more about rare cheevs though, I completely forgot about this side of gaming for a while now that you mention it.
Does a 'rare' achievement ever lose its rare status?
Or does a none rare achievement become rare after a while? I'm no trophy hunter so I wouldn't know.

Re: Bethesda's Indiana Jones Game Is Apparently Midway Through Development

Cherip-the-Ripper

@Kaloudz forgot to mention btw I saw the thing as well a few weeks back.
I had previously only seen The Thing (2010) not even knowing who Carpenter was and I've actually always thought the 2010 version was a remake instead of a prequel.
So I watched the original The Thing, ***** was mad scary but properly enjoyable. In hindsight kinda bummed it didn't 'feel' as Lovecraftian as Prince of Darkness and Into the Mouth of Madness.
Most of all after watching so many of his movies in succession I can't quite wrap my head around if 'The Thing' is a lovecraftion horror or if the movie's supposed to just be a regular horror flick.
Definitely got more of the latter vibes from it.

Cherip-the-Ripper

@Kaloudz
If anything, Renfield's trailers are more telling of the final product than The Last Voyage of the Demeter is.
Also, Renfield nails social commentary. It's very modern in a good way.
Indiana Jones? Yeah man I watched Indy 5 the day before yesterday.
Been waiting for it to hit digital forever 😭😂, which is crazy btw cause I distinctly thought the first three movies were a bit of a letdown.
For reference I never watched the IJ movies before this year, I ran through the first four like 2 months ago.
I think they hold up pretty well actually but I dislike the whole schtick about Indy discovering something only to be captured by the bad guys, just to escape and be captured again later on.
They feel like very forced confrontations if you get my meaning.
But in the end, I always watched the next one because I foremost watch these types of movies because of the adventure part, them figuring out the puzzles, going to some exotic location and seeing mystical stuff.
I guess it's why I like the Uncharted games so damn much, and thought the movie was pretty fun and not all that bad.
I'd still rather have Mark Wahlberg as Nathan Drake though 😂
So after watching the first three I wasn't keen on watching 4 because I was led to believe it's somehow worse than the others but I ended up liking, especially Mut's character wasn't as bad as people made him out to be.
I hadn't seen the whole Greasers vs Jocks (I think) depiction in quite a while either so it felt more genuine transporting to a different era.
The s***tiest thing about IJ 4 is the ridiculous accent Cate Blanchett, apparently because it was on short notice, did through its entirety. I was cringing every time.
Ayy ngl I wrote this whole thing up before reading your last paragraph lmao, but 5's fine man. Kinda nice having a german villain again, stunts ain't all that bad either for an 80yo. The whole "I'm too old for this *****" schtick isn't drawn out either.
I prefer it over the others. Wasn't quite as good as I had hoped Mangold would make it though, I must note.
It would be cool if they manage to secure Harrison's voice actor for sure.
After 5 flopping it looks like Disney won't pursue the IP which I think is a shame, would definitely like a limited series or sth similar, wouldn't know who they could get for it though with everyone being so damn old lol.

Re: Bethesda's Indiana Jones Game Is Apparently Midway Through Development

Cherip-the-Ripper

@Kaloudz ehhh I don't want to hold you off from wanting to watch it but lemme explain nonetheless
I dunno if you've watched the BBC series (january 2020) with Claes Bang.
A three episode mini series based on some chapters from the book. I haven't watched it since but from what I can remember its second episode, based on chapter 7, handled the source material better, despite not having read the book.
The movie felt a bit lacklustre, disjointed, and not quite as thrilling as it should've been. The transition between day and night should've felt more like survival but instead it felt like just another take lol
It lacked a bit of a punch, though granted it had its better parts.
It also wasn't even the best Dracula movie this year, despite being two entirely different spins on the IP I much prefer Renfield.
Anyway don't let me get you down mate, I hope you enjoy it despite my ranting 🫡

Re: Bethesda's Indiana Jones Game Is Apparently Midway Through Development

Cherip-the-Ripper

@Kaloudz nah I haven't, never even heard of them. Apparently there are two sequels, both direct to dvd so I'll skip out on those.
But the first being a neo western action horror movie about vampires is enough to convince me. I'll watch it before the end of the week!
Actually happened to watch the Last Voyage of the Demeter yesterday, very middling and I can see why it was released on digital within nearly two weeks. It's made me wanna read Bram Stoker's Dracula, been meaning to read something else anyway.

Re: Starfield Fans, What Are Your Plans Over The Next Few Days?

Cherip-the-Ripper

@Kaloudz I've not seen reviews of either game anywhere. I'll be watching the DF vid on Starfield so I'll know what settings I might need to play with beyond the usual ones and just as a general idea of what to expect performance wise. Other than that I'll try and go in as blindly as possible.
A friend of mine convinced me to play Sea of Stars and I wasn't interested in playing it prior.
By store reviews, do you mean the reviews on the console's store?
If so, I never check those anyway because it's mostly empty like there aren't any reviews or there might be a review with no text. Even if something is written up it's nonsensical.
Feel like there might be a character limit to it the way no-one manages to write anything comprehensible lol

Re: Bethesda's Indiana Jones Game Is Apparently Midway Through Development

Cherip-the-Ripper

@Kaloudz it's Bruce Campbell as Ash from the Ash vs Evil Dead (2013) series.
Been watching lots of horror stuff lately, Carpenter, Garland and Raimi's Evil Dead for instance.
The 2013 show is one of the best things on our not so green earth.
@Amigator ohh okay. Honestly expecting machinegames to randomly do a third person action adventure game is a bit odd yh.
Mirror's Edge but more fleshed out is a good shout, maybe a mixture of Ghostrunner in there as well but more cutscenes.
