I think they're significantly underestimating the advantage Microsoft will have in the subscription market , subscriptions aren't something I'm interested in but if/when the consoles cease to exist Microsoft will be the monopoly & everyone cheering for them to gobble up studios will come to regret it

@IOI I saw a comparison of the latest playstation / Nintendo & Xbox ads & it was embarrassing how bad the Xbox one was compared to playstations , Nintendo wasn't bad either Xbox was just advertising some free to play games alongside the series S & gamepass

@Fenbops they wouldn't be able to pull games from other consoles that have already released or they'd have to give refunds , same with destiny 2 if Sony pulled that from Xbox they'd have to give refunds to everyone that bought expansions on Xbox

@Green-Bandit the PS2 had online functionality in supported games via the network adaptor that released in Japan in July 2001 so before Xbox was released & the PS4 / ps5 controller can connect to android / IOS & pc aswell (Nintendo switch aswell through a 3rd party usb adaptor)

Xbox's 'unique ability' is Microsoft's wallet & there ability to lose money until they become market leader

@Kevw2006 the only way that would work is if they let people trade in their current series S & get the new one for free which would be extremely expensive & a pain in the arse for Microsoft , they're stuck with the series S no way around it for them without losing alot of money

@belmont I love the UI except the lack of themes but yeah the updating thing is dumb they need to add a way to just scan all your games for updates when you want like you can on Xbox

@BrilliantBill yeah they advertise the series S as 'simply next gen' but it's far from simple at this point if they were to cut support for the series S on any games that series X gets there'd be a hell of alot of backlash even the most die hard Xbox fans would be up in arms over Microsofts false advertising

@Wheatly I love the design of the PS5 , sure it's big but I think it looks cool & futuristic I'd like to get face plates in the classic playstation 1 grey with classic playstation logo on it though

@uptownsoul it will be the series S it's a double edged sword with that console on the one hand it's very affordable on the other it's holds back their 'most powerful console in the world' 12 tflops beast it seems likely to me that the series S has vastly outsold the series X aswell

@PeteyPiranha just seen digital foundry's done an analysis of that atomic heart aswell & apparently the ps5 version runs better despite Xbox paying them to put it on gamepass day one I'm sure Sony must have paid them to do that too lol

Everyone saying playstation paid to keep this off Xbox , they've confirmed there's been an Xbox version in development for a while but they've run into to technical problems particularly with split screen co-op so they aren't confident enough to announce it yet looks like you guys were wrong again lol
