Re: SEGA Is Reportedly Considering Its Own Gaming Subscription Service

OldGamer999

@Sol4ris
Yep it’s the GPU day one releases that keep me on GPU and to some point series x.
Without day one all Xbox studio games I would not have game pass at all and probably not an Xbox console because some release on PS5.
If Xbox went all Xbox studio games day one PS5 then I would have to think especially as PS5 Pro would probably give the best visual experience.
My point.
Xbox are treading a very fine line, they need to keep some big AAA Xbox world exclusives and not on PS5 Pro or a very bare minimum 6 months to one year release delay on PS5 Pro.

At the moment it’s a good mix and match but if they go full on day one on PS5 Pro then that line is crossed. And being honest would probably see the final nail in the coffin and maybe the end of Xbox consoles.
It’s cool at the minute Xbox but I really hope they don’t go full throttle.

Re: Poll: What Were The Best Xbox Game Pass Additions In 2024?

OldGamer999

Yep highest percentage Indy 22% and what I’ve been saying for years.
Big quality AAA, that’s all the winning formula Xbox needs.
Second COD with 12% another big quality AAA.
And importantly both games releasing in very good condition with not many bugs.
Big quality AAA will always win.
Keep em coming.

Re: These Are The Top-Selling Games In The Xbox Countdown Sale 2024

OldGamer999

Been doing some next year 2025 game release analysis.
What Xbox doesn’t seem to realise I don’t think and definitely doesn’t advertise.
If you have GPU or even if you don’t to a degree.
Taking third party games out as they are for both consoles.
When you look at 2025 line up compared to Sony with Ghost 2 being their own studio big AAA, Xbox has stacks more big releases.
Avowed
South of midnight
Doom
Fable

They really should advertise this and Xbox consoles more, especially as Xbox consoles has over 50% of the GP sub attach rate.

Xbox greatness is there in front of them but not shouted about at all.

@Cikajovazmaj
I was on big screen 65” QD OLED and it did look ok with Sonys but Xbox looked poor in comparison.
Just find it amusing that Microsoft are pushing all this and ahead of time in my opinion and focusing on it much instead of their consoles and the performance is not as good as Sonys streaming.
Sort of laughable really.

I never stream, I want full 4K the best experience when I play games, so no big deal to me.

@Banjo-
I still strongly believe if you gave say the coalition five years to produce a single player game on series x only and use all its 12tflops and power it would be a console graphical show case.

Does not mean later another company can’t convert to PC etc, like Sony do now.

Let’s be honest well all know that, but if I gave them the same 5 years but also added series s, pc, all other devices and streaming and let’s say multiplayer as well, the result with no additional staff and time would not be the outstanding showcase for the series x. And that is what happens now.

And that is the difference and why Sony and Nintendo get a lot more followers and fans and sales, those in house just for that specific console show case games.

All Sony did for the end of the PS3 era and then into the PS4 era was copy Xbox with the xbox360.
Amazing in house games showing off the Xbox360, great timed exclusives with third parties and then got the FIFA and COD advertising and console bundles rights from Xbox to PlayStation.

@Millionski
That’s one thing I have never got about Xbox with the very good Xbox console GP attach rate just over 50% compared to billions of other devices.
I have always said sell a console sell a GP sub and probably GPU. At £14.99 a month in the UK and now Xbox have all those studios and new games including COD it is great value.
I’m playing COD, Indy and Stalker all on GPU and probably won’t spend a penny next year apart from my subscription costs, unless a very good third party game turns up.

I have noticed though the last couple of weeks in my local store series x has been selling very well so maybe an uptick in the UK in December console wise.

But yeah it baffles me at the moment with their sort of lacklustre approach to the Xbox console.
I think they are working about ten years ahead in their minds but forgetting the here and now and the next day 8 years console wise.

Also I tried Xbox streaming on my series x 200mb/sec internet it was poor quality.
Then tried spider man 2 on PS5 and it was a lot lot better.
What is going on there, I thought Xbox was the king of cloud streaming gaming?

Re: Xbox Series X|S Architect Officially Named 'VP Of Next-Generation' At Microsoft

OldGamer999

Series x is an amazing console, great form factor, great ability and great features like quick resume.
But being honest and seeing what Sonys own studios do with a PS5 a less power console by about 2 tflops, we really really have not seen what the series x can really produce.

Unfortunately this is the result of Xbox developers having to produce for many devices be it series x and series s, PC, other devices and cloud.
Of course time constraints are there as well.

Unlike the past where Xbox studios were dedicated to produce on one single console.
That’s why both Sony and Nintendo in house teams get that amazing best ever out of their own consoles, something to aspire to, for other developers.

Re: Xbox & PlayStation Face 'Significant Risk' With Their Next Consoles, Predicts Research Firm

OldGamer999

Yeah yeah analysts.
My only thing to say is Switch 2 of course will sell well initially and if the release day games are right for me I will be there and the console is powerful enough for what it is a hybrid.
But I’m not totally sure long term.
It’s a different environment now and also there are millions and millions of Switch owners unlike hardly any Wii U owners and a lot of those switch owners mainly general public will keep using their original Switch.
Covid and lock down greatly improved Switch sales, never again please lock down wise.

We shall see but it’s not going to be as plain sailing for Switch 2 long term.

@TheSimulator
I think Xbox wants everything.
Home console, all devices and other consoles and GPU.
But it treads a fine line with costs and return on investment.
Yes release a game already made for Xbox on PS5 or Switch should be cost effective.
But the risk is if you shrink your Xbox console base to small and lose to many GPU subscribers on Xbox consoles then there could be a point when making a home Xbox console does not justify the cost of investment. Or even keeping GPU.
The lucky thing for Xbox consoles currently is over 50% of game pass subscriptions are on Xbox consoles and I think that will keep Xbox consoles alive for know and next generation.
I truly believe if Xbox consoles had about 10 to 15 percentage or less game pass subscriptions, then Xbox consoles could disappear.

Re: Indiana Jones And The Great Circle 'Glitch' Shows How The Game Would Look In Third-Person

OldGamer999

@Coletrain
Yes I did watch a lot of Avowed first person, it’s initial design intention I think as it seems to flow better than when watching some of the third person game play.
But then again an option never hurts sometimes.
Depends on the quality of the third person implemented at the later stages.

They have had extra time, and I’m really hoping they can use that time more for a 60fps option on series x.

Re: YouTuber Breaks Down Xbox's 'Almost Perfect' New Ad Campaign

OldGamer999

@themightyant
The only thing I will say and it might be just my UK location I tried streaming on my series x just for fun, 400mb/sec internet. So fast.
And I must be honest what a horrible picture and mess it was. Now for me that will put a lot off to drop that streaming technology straight away and put them off for a very long time.
So if this is the current very poor quality, why not wait until it is better then promote and release cloud streaming.
