A lot has been said about Indiana Jones and the Great Circle's gameplay perspective and how fans would like an option to experience the game in third-person - and, well, a new glitch posted on social media gives us a glimpse at what this could look like.
Shared on Twitter earlier today, we can see a short gameplay clip of Indy exploring the Sukhothai level entirely in third-person. Of course, this would be first-person normally, because it's only certain platforming segments that switch to an over-the-shoulder view in the full game.
Now, while this clip looks rather good (and quite polished for a 'glitch'), we don't want to jump to any conclusions here. We're already seeing speculation online that the entire game could be made playable in third-person with how refined this looks, but you've got to take into account that certain elements of The Great Circle are already in third-person, so it makes sense that such a viewpoint would look quite good in-game. It doesn't necessarily mean that the full experience would be ready to play that way!
Anyway, we're not exactly sure how this occurred, but it's an interesting look at how MachineGames' new Indiana Jones game could look from a different perspective. We certainly wouldn't say no this option being patched in at a later date!

Tough one really, I’m enjoying the first person view more than I thought I would.
From a looks point of view and seeing Indy then definitely yes, but would have to play it in third person to really decide.
I think it would be good to have a 3rd view. Particularly as dressing up in disguises plays an important part in the game, but you don't really get to see them. Plus there's the people who paid extra for the exclusive outfits.
@OldGamer999 quite agree. The 1st person viewpoint is excellent, and I'm really enjoying the game as a whole.
3rd person might be cool, but given what machine games has done in the past it makes sense why they would stick to 1st person.
Being a huge fan of the Tomb Raider and Uncharted games, it just makes more sense to make this type of adventure game in 3rd person. The brawling in 1st person is truly silly and would've looked better with some nice 3rd person animations, as well as all the platforming. I mean they did such a fantastic job with Indiana Jones' model... would've been nice to actually see it in action. And you can still have 1st person close-ups to admire specific detail, like what Uncharted did.
I would love an extra 3rd person view, just to change it up a bit. The game is excellent how it is though. Really taking my time with it. They really nailed the atmosphere!
Because each trigger is an arm and enemies react differently, I think that the first person view is more suitable for the combat of Indiana Jones. My biggest fear when playing first-person view games that are not shooters (the benefits are undeniable there) is the platforming, but here even that has been done nicely with precise and smooth controls. It's nice seeing Indiana when he climbs because first person there wouldn't add anything. Overall, I think the camera was the right choice because of the combat and the focus on observation, with things like opening doors, pulling switches and holding weapons in different ways all adding to its level of immersion.
This game needs more than just 3rd person, Bethesda really needs to do something about how dumb the ai is. I finished Vatican City but could not push myself to continue on through Gizeh because the AI is such a let down. It's almost insulting to ones intelligence how easy the enemies are to not only avoid when sneaking but also the combat leaves much to be desired. Don't get me started on how silly it is that they can't hear you knock someone out with a shovel or sledgehammer and their body goes crashing through some crates or something breaking them in the process and the other AI around "huh, must be the wind."
@Coletrain
They might add third person probably more so as it is going to PS5 next year and you know how they love third person over there.
The game is built around first person, e.g. to easily find hidden routes and documents etc. you need to be closer to the action than third person. BUT choice is good and some people can't play it in first person due to motion sickness, so i'd love to see a 3rd person accessibility option.
I never liked 1st person until I played cyberpunk. Changed my perspective…..
In that clip, Indy scratches the back of his neck. Why bother with that animation if they intended the game to be first person?
well, if they created a third person view I would actually play the damn game. I can't with FPS games and for now this is just another game I'm missing out because of vertigo.
Anything to improve it or give us option is welcome. Can they cure all the guards from looking like the same person with the same cold. Take some Lemsip perhaps? Can you teach Indy to not drop items when climbing ladders or opening doors. My child has learned that one already. Can you make it so I at least think the stealth parts are stealth. Once I figured out you can just ignore the guards are even there as they pretty much ignore you even if standing right in front of them. And can you make it either first person OR third person and not flip during the game. Find it very annoying and causes motion sickness for me more than sticking to one perspective in either option.
Thanks
I don't care for it, but sure, make it an option, if people really want it.
@OldGamer999 would certainly make more sense in the realm of "3rd person action/adventure is all we like" land, but I never think the transition truly works. You can see it in things like Skyrim or Starfield, the animations are stilted instead of smooth like on something such as Horizon Forbidden West. Probably because the games were built around 1st person POVs
When people ask on several threads for keeping weapons that break easily, are they asking for a Breath of the Wild weapon management? 😂 This is infinitely better: easier, on the fly, more immersive and more fun.
I'd prefer the game never go to third person at all TBH. Even in platforming.
@Coletrain
Definitely if a game is designed around first person and third person is an after thought, it rarely looks that good.
Then again Avowed will be running both views on release.
Seeing as how the game in current form makes me seriously motion sick, yeah I'd be up for trying third person.
I was enjoying playing 1st person mind you, until I got sick from it for 6 days!
Choice is a good thing.
@OldGamer999 oh Avowed is a game I will 100% play in first person, the combat is clearly designed that way (same as indy I guess). One of my most wanted in 2025 for sure
@Coletrain
Yes I did watch a lot of Avowed first person, it’s initial design intention I think as it seems to flow better than when watching some of the third person game play.
But then again an option never hurts sometimes.
Depends on the quality of the third person implemented at the later stages.
They have had extra time, and I’m really hoping they can use that time more for a 60fps option on series x.
@OldGamer999 yeah I really hope so too. That comment they had about getting juicy with the lighting effects was so brain-dead. I notice lighting effects if I flick between quality and performance modes, but I can think of exactly zero times where it's pushed me towards quality mode. Gameplay is king and 60fps helps a lot with that in first person.
@Coletrain
If Indy can have 60fps so can Avowed as simple as that for me.
I am still early on in the game. Haven’t had much time to play it. Overall I prefer 3rd person, but so far I’m loving this game. I’m not bothered it’s in 1st person. If I had the option, I probably would have chosen 3rd person, but I think some of the actions I had to do might not have translated as well in a 3rd person view.
This game was meant to have a first person view. If it went third person it would just be a other boring Assassins Creed style game. I think going first person was the right choice and really captures the whole Indy vibe they were going for.
@Coletrain @OldGamer999 I completely agree. I didn't know if I'd like the first person view beforehand but I love it. I think it works brilliantly, and the switch to third person when it happens is so smooth.
I can't imagine fist fighting being as enjoyable in third person.
I never thought I'd say this, but I am very happy if it remains first person.
Not really. If it was an action game sure but you really need to be up close looking at stuff
I'm not normally that opiniated about design choices in games, but Indy is an iconic character, so I would've personally preferred the 3rd person view so you can see him in action.
