Re: Xbox's Multiplatform Releases Made Microsoft The Top Game Publisher In The World Last Month

OldGamer999

I guess it depends on return on investment if any company would make another next generation console or not.
You would calculate the cost of console development and manufacturing costs.
Add up all the in goings and out goings and see what the cash bottom line is.

Now the only difference for Microsoft is the gamepass attach rate to current Xbox consoles which is over 50%.
Do they wish to loose that in the future and of course needs to be costed in to the overall return on investment. Against how many next generation consoles they may sell.
It’s all about bottom line profit or not.

One could argue if they are doing and achieve great success just as a publisher.
Then why bother with a next generation Xbox and even game pass at all, as they both cost the company money.

Re: Xbox Is 'Evolving' Rather Than 'Losing' Its Identity, Says Phil Spencer

OldGamer999

It’s happening now and I have given up on it.
The only frustrating thing is the current policy which grates.
What games?
Day one?
When?

Why they can’t just have a straight forward policy like other publishers.

Xbox and PlayStation console all new games day one.

Or, Xbox consoles 6 months exclusive then on PlayStation.

It’s the uncertainty of what new games and when that gets me and makes me want to dis own Xbox.

They are deliberately leaving Xbox console owners hanging on a thread because of the high Xbox console to game pass attach rate as they don’t want to loose they game pass members. Scum business as usual.

Re: Xbox Will Continue To Ship More Games On PlayStation And Nintendo

OldGamer999

@IOI
I have said that for a while now.
Xbox can have its universe on all other devices apart from other consoles and are in a very good position to have battled this with consoles now and promoted Xbox consoles with all these exclusive console games that they starting to produce of course apart from COD.
I enjoy a good battle and Xbox really could have a good go now and into the next generation.

Publishing on Sony and Nintendo is just surrendering, when they have got themselves in the best position ever for a battle.

Re: 'Xbox Play Anywhere' Makes A Welcome Appearance At Developer Direct 2025

OldGamer999

@WildConcept6
Thank you for your detailed response. Was a great read.
As for myself can’t stand cloud gaming for main big tv gaming like I do on a 65” Sony qd-oled. I like the full experience full 4K, 60fps, VRR,HDR, Dolby atmos etc.
The cloud stuff for main gaming is an absolute abomination from all sides for me.
And I’m not sure it will ever get to the maximum experience like I get on a home consoles game download ever.

Re: 'Xbox Play Anywhere' Makes A Welcome Appearance At Developer Direct 2025

OldGamer999

@Ricky-Spanish
I tried streaming on series x UK 200mb/sec and what a mess it was, picture was awful.

I then tried on PS5 spider man 2 and it was ok ish, definitely not my way to play but just about passable.

What I don’t understand is Microsoft are ramming this crap cloud gaming down our throats which let’s be honest in a mass market no one is interested in and it’s miles worse than Sony streaming.

How can it be worse than Sonys.

Re: Xbox Is Adding Support For Even Bigger Storage Devices In 2025

OldGamer999

They really do some good things over at Xbox console development to be fair, quick resume being one of my favourites.
So why the hell don’t they promote this great console and GPU and Xbox studios games more as a best way to play console package.
You know the full developers intentions, 4K, 60fps, HDR, VRR, Dolby Vision and Atmos etc.
All the great ingredients are there now with recent studio purchases just starring Microsoft in the face.

Re: Rumour: Leaker Names Multiple Xbox Games Potentially Releasing On Switch 2

OldGamer999

@Millionski
Just a dam shame in my opinion, in todays up to date situation with Sony and the amount of ip and studios Xbox owns and with GPU they really could have started a great console come back and gone up against Sony.
Setting them up also for next generation.

And yes the massive attach rate of game pass to Xbox consoles is an issue for Microsoft as they could well loose tens of millions of Xbox console game pass subscriptions.

Which would potentially and roughly only leave about a maximum of 10 million game subscriptions attached to billions of other devices.

They have taken totally the wrong strategy with this especially for the Xbox and Xbox consoles we know.

I would have least said ok.
Any NEW Xbox studio games are very likely to release on another console or consoles.
However Xbox console and GPU owners.
Any NEE game will have a least 9 months of Xbox consoles and GPU exclusivity.

At least that gives some reason to own an Xbox console and GPU and we know exactly where we stand.

Also of course any games already released over 9 months old could go to another console.

Instead we have a totally messed up message of.
We don’t know what games and we don’t know when after Xbox release or at the same time.
We just don’t know, because we have no idea as business how to treat our loyal Xbox console fan base and to run this programme how we should really run it.

Re: PS5 Pro Surprisingly Loses To Xbox Series X In HDMI Bandwidth Test

OldGamer999

Ive also remembered as well as better VRR
On series x, also quick resume which is a great feature for me.
Easy to add more memory slot in card
Does not require feet or a stand to sit on a shelf vertically or horizontally.

The PS5 really should not be as successful as it is and with less single player games from Sony AAA studios due to bad GAAS decisions.

This really should have been the time for Xbox to strike for some good ole console war, then moving more into next generation in a better fighting position.

Re: Rumour: Leaker Names Multiple Xbox Games Potentially Releasing On Switch 2

OldGamer999

@ZAHMED
I’ve posted about that on there don’t you worry.
But I’m glad they got cancelled as I have PlayStation for their single player AAA games.
Not rubbish GAAS stuff.
I have all three console for the best quality AAA exclusive single player games from all three companies.
Though the way Xbox are going I may need one less console.
Also especially and this sounds so weird and unfortunate to say, that the best place to play Xbox studio games console wise is on a PS5 Pro.
Crazy times we live in.

Re: Rumour: Leaker Names Multiple Xbox Games Potentially Releasing On Switch 2

OldGamer999

@PsBoxSwitchOwner
That is the part I don’t get why bother with any hardware at all if it’s all going PS5/6 and switch 2.
As owning either of those consoles gets you their own exclusive library of course and the Xbox studio games.

I always thought Xbox may have been smart and fair to Xbox console users and said yes we are going to put every NEW game on other consoles but not until at least 9 months have passed.
This would then at least and also with GPU give Xbox console owners a bit of, well we get it first for 9 months at least and a reason maybe to own an Xbox console and GPU.

Instead it’s a mix of no games are redlines, some are day one on other consoles, some are later and some we are not sure.
What a terrible mixed message.

Re: Xbox Series X|S Console Sales In Europe Dropped By Almost 50% In 2024

OldGamer999

@Fiendish-Beaver
Totally agree, it’s a weird place to be in as an xboxer consoler.
They not even trying with our great series x console anymore.
They have some great AAA games coming this year and ended last year with COD and Indy.
The time to strike the console market Xbox wise with great PR and hopefully the great games coming is now, but they just don’t want to and unfortunately that is how it is.
Sell a console sell GP subscription.

It’s not like their GP or cloud gaming is being sold by the millions every week, I believe that is stagnant as well.
They have no where left to turn at all.
Jack of all trades and master of none and no one is that interested in big numbers that is their issue.

Re: Microsoft Is Apparently Working On Some Big Improvements To Xbox Cloud Gaming

OldGamer999

I tried over Christmas UK 200/mb sec on series x 65inch TV. What a load of crap and mess that picture was it was terrible I would rather die than game like that.

Now just to be honest did the same on PS5, same settings and tv etc.
OK not a bad picture was a lot clearer and it ran ok, I would not play like this by it’s was just about passable.

My big question.
How come yet again Microsoft seem to think they are good and push cloud gaming and Sonys cloud gaming picture and quality is better. That really is piss poor Microsoft.

How they think cloud gaming is any good in the UK anyway I dare to think. And straight away it puts people off cloud gaming and Xbox.

Re: Rumour: Microsoft Reportedly Chose Buying Studios Over 'Winding Down' Xbox In 2021

OldGamer999

At the end of day they have many market streams coming into the Xbox business.
However these are really slowing down.
Console sales with regards sell a console sell another GP subscription.

GP subscriptions over total, considering there are billions of other devices there are not many GP subscriptions. Low attachment rate.

The issue cloud gaming is terrible I tried on my series x at 200mb/sec and what a bloody messy picture it was. 65” tv.

Yes xbox maybe ahead of their time but they becoming so forgettable in the here and now and becoming a Jack of all trades and master of none, which can work but going on consoles sold, GP and cloud gaming up takes.
Nothing is really doing well in real numbers.

The only reason the Xbox went plus 4% last quarter is ABK deal otherwise it was down yet again.
ABK cannot continue to bale out low console sales and low GP sales and definitely won’t make GP a sustainable product going by the article numbers.

The casuals, the general public the young the old overall just don’t see or get Xbox. Xbox hasn’t done good PR has not created a gel and bond in the mass market. Xbox hasn’t got a thing that sells it to them.

Re: Talking Point: 10 Years Ago, Microsoft Delivered An Incredible Lineup Of Exclusives For Xbox One

OldGamer999

@CenturianShark
Glad you think the same as well. They could kill it all years from now on with all those studios and talent. Then possible expand their studios even more.
I believe they really could and overtime maybe even be king of the consoles or level anyway.
Of course also have the Xbox universe like now and GPU and cloud gaming. Attack on all fronts and not wimp out giving games to other consoles.
