Re: Poll: How Many Xbox Consoles Have You Owned In Total?

Menchi

7 total.

1. OG Xbox 180 picked up a few weeks after launch (Still own)

2. Original model 360 right before Oblivion came out. (Traded in towards #3)

3. 360 Elite to get HDMI, bigger storage and "1080p" (Sold to friend after buying #4)

4. 360 slim to replace the elite. Only because a pricing error let me get it for almost 70% off. (Still own)

5. Day one Xbox One. (Still own)

6. Project Scorpio Xbox One X, console bricked after a month, full refund. (Returned)

7. Xbox One X bought years later nearly 50% off brand new thanks to the Fallout 76 bundle being fire sold. (Still own)

I cancelled my 10 month old preorder on XSX a few weeks ago but will buy one eventually out of curiousity since I don't need it and will get a better experience elsewhere.

Re: Microsoft: We Know People Want To See More Xbox Series X Gameplay

@NEStalgia It's such a shame, so many mix ups and crossed wires all because of money and marketing. And it seems each console sadly has shortcomings. The actual next gen looking game (Demon's Souls, PS5/PC) feels compromised on console because it's either 4k/30fps or lower res, lower quality 60fps not maintained. Meanwhile Xbox is MIA.

Re: Yep, Xbox Just Took Another Playful Jab At The PS5's Removable Stand

Menchi

@BAMozzy Also, remember the Sony fanboys that are upset at this, are the same ones that praised the "how to share games on PS4" video.

Funny you mention Sammy, if you look around the internet, he's known as "Samage Control" for the massive amount of mental gymnastics and damage control he does in Sony's favour (not my words/opinion).

Microsoft's transparency approach worked at first up to a point. Then since May it's been a mess. Not as bad as Sony's approach, but it's gone from good to bad.

"We can only show so much" then why even start with something old?

They gave Xbox consoles to youtubers with high production values and specifically embargoed the next gen gameplay footage. They don't WANT it out there.

Probably because last time they showed "next gen" it was a mess with Halo, and that was the superior version above Xbox Series X.

Fire Greenberg.

Re: Xbox Celebrates A Record Year For Its First-Party Studios

Menchi

@NEStalgia But that's what I'm saying. Mass market appeal. Might or might not make for a good game depending on your tastes, but appeals to a lot of people meaning sales numbers and potentially a large satisfied customer base. Big budgets? Critical praise.

Perception? High quality, loved by many gamers and critics, high score reviews, big AAA look and feel. What the average joe wants for his €70.

Re: Xbox Celebrates A Record Year For Its First-Party Studios

@InterceptorAlpha It's more so the spectacle and production value of the AAA titles. For example Ori 1 completely blindsided me after I played it on a whim from viewer request during the Ori 2 reveal. I loved it. 100%'d the game after I finished it. I have 2 but haven't found the time to play it.

Post Bungie Halo has definitely dropped in quality, 4 was ok but 5 had major issues. Funnily enough the actual gameplay of 5 was very solid (bring on that eventual PC port after MCC!) but the story, characters, setting, etc were useless.

Gears is the same. Original trilogy was great, 4 was good, I think it gets more hate than it deserves, but 5 was totally forgettable for 99% of it. Gears 4 lasted me online for horde mode right up until Gears 5. Gears 5 lasted me maybe 2 months, reinstalled last week, that only lasted me a few days. Tried something new with Tactics, worked well. I love Gears, I love Xcom, win/win.

Racing isn't my thing so I don't play Forza.

But look at everything else Xbox has put out over the last 5 years. Grounded, that overwatch clone that was dead on day 1`(can't remember the name), Sea of Thieves, Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2, Battletoads, the list goes on even into next gen with The Goop or whatever it's called.

Compared to what Sony is putting out. I don't even like most of their games but it's the optics on the games/systems/reception. Spiderman, Ghosts Of Tsushima, God of War, The Last Of Us 2 (I played TLOU2, biggest mistake ever), Uncharted, Horizon Zero Dawn, more that I'm forgetting. If you look at the list, Sony is producing critically acclaimed, console visual showcase bangers. Microsoft is making.....what exactly? Claymation gamepass fodder.

I'll continue to buy the Microsoft franchises I enjoy on PC, such as Gears, Halo and other smaller things. While I can opine about all this as I'm just 1 example, the sales numbers show the public opinion. PS4s sold, units sold of games, etc

Re: Xbox Celebrates A Record Year For Its First-Party Studios

Menchi

I voted Halo CE on PC, but I wish MCC PC overall was 1 option.

@Medic_Alert @InterceptorAlpha I'm with you guys. I cancelled my XSX because without Halo there's nothing for me to buy it for, even as it was only for comparison sake. Everything will be better on PC for me. I'll get one eventually and will use it "as a generational investment" although that doesn't really mean much for Xbox since 2015 sadly.

Same reason I cancelled my PS5, nothing to buy for the foreseeable future.

Edit: I do think it's very interesting when you look at what counts as an "Xbox Studios" game now a days. This list is a great example of why the perception of Xbox games are so much lower quality than the other 2 companies. Outside Halo, Gears, Forza (the meme!) it's all just indie level stuff. And a few PC exclusives. Cue someone to rabidly call me a Playstation fanboy though, despite liking their 1st party exclusives even fewer and further between.

Re: Roundup: First Hands-On Impressions Of The Xbox Series X

Menchi

@BlueOcean It's the lack of processing power. Load times involve storage, cpu, gpu and even to an extent, RAM. Even if you remove the time to access assets (like Switch's flash memory) if it has terrible processing power in all other departments, those will drag it down. The Switch being so absolutely woeful is why this happens.

Re: Capcom Attempting To Bring Resident Evil Village To Xbox One

Menchi

@BAMozzy Development for this started on the current gen sadly but was moved forward. I imagine they either kept the current gen design choice even when it was next gen only, or else now have to revert to a compromised base of game design to allow the current hardware.

Disappointing if they do.

Re: Xbox Series X 1TB Storage Expansion Card Priced At $219.99

Menchi

@pip_muzz You can only play Xbox One/360/OG games from an external hard drive. All next gen games must be run from either the internal SSD or these expansion cards. External HDDs can only store next gen games, not play them.

@roe As long as the Xbox account has the license, I imagine it will work on multiple consoles.
