1. OG Xbox 180 picked up a few weeks after launch (Still own)
2. Original model 360 right before Oblivion came out. (Traded in towards #3)
3. 360 Elite to get HDMI, bigger storage and "1080p" (Sold to friend after buying #4)
4. 360 slim to replace the elite. Only because a pricing error let me get it for almost 70% off. (Still own)
5. Day one Xbox One. (Still own)
6. Project Scorpio Xbox One X, console bricked after a month, full refund. (Returned)
7. Xbox One X bought years later nearly 50% off brand new thanks to the Fallout 76 bundle being fire sold. (Still own)
I cancelled my 10 month old preorder on XSX a few weeks ago but will buy one eventually out of curiousity since I don't need it and will get a better experience elsewhere.
@NEStalgia It's the Sony mindset. However I will say there was an article over there the other day where (I think it was Sammy) tried to damage control Spiderman remastered "IT'S A TRUE GENERATIONAL LEAP!!!" and practically every single comment was having none of him.
@NEStalgia It's such a shame, so many mix ups and crossed wires all because of money and marketing. And it seems each console sadly has shortcomings. The actual next gen looking game (Demon's Souls, PS5/PC) feels compromised on console because it's either 4k/30fps or lower res, lower quality 60fps not maintained. Meanwhile Xbox is MIA.
@BAMozzy Also, remember the Sony fanboys that are upset at this, are the same ones that praised the "how to share games on PS4" video.
Funny you mention Sammy, if you look around the internet, he's known as "Samage Control" for the massive amount of mental gymnastics and damage control he does in Sony's favour (not my words/opinion).
@Fenbops Either their dev kit sucks (why is raytracing getting patched into games post launch yet launching on PS5?) or the 1st party studios are still churning out low quality stuff.s
Microsoft's transparency approach worked at first up to a point. Then since May it's been a mess. Not as bad as Sony's approach, but it's gone from good to bad.
"We can only show so much" then why even start with something old?
They gave Xbox consoles to youtubers with high production values and specifically embargoed the next gen gameplay footage. They don't WANT it out there.
Probably because last time they showed "next gen" it was a mess with Halo, and that was the superior version above Xbox Series X.
Did anyone see all the comments from "influencers" that received XSX confirming they're not allowed to show next gen gameplay? What the jhel is going on with next gen gameplay.
@NEStalgia But that's what I'm saying. Mass market appeal. Might or might not make for a good game depending on your tastes, but appeals to a lot of people meaning sales numbers and potentially a large satisfied customer base. Big budgets? Critical praise.
Perception? High quality, loved by many gamers and critics, high score reviews, big AAA look and feel. What the average joe wants for his €70.
@InterceptorAlpha It's more so the spectacle and production value of the AAA titles. For example Ori 1 completely blindsided me after I played it on a whim from viewer request during the Ori 2 reveal. I loved it. 100%'d the game after I finished it. I have 2 but haven't found the time to play it.
Post Bungie Halo has definitely dropped in quality, 4 was ok but 5 had major issues. Funnily enough the actual gameplay of 5 was very solid (bring on that eventual PC port after MCC!) but the story, characters, setting, etc were useless.
Gears is the same. Original trilogy was great, 4 was good, I think it gets more hate than it deserves, but 5 was totally forgettable for 99% of it. Gears 4 lasted me online for horde mode right up until Gears 5. Gears 5 lasted me maybe 2 months, reinstalled last week, that only lasted me a few days. Tried something new with Tactics, worked well. I love Gears, I love Xcom, win/win.
Racing isn't my thing so I don't play Forza.
But look at everything else Xbox has put out over the last 5 years. Grounded, that overwatch clone that was dead on day 1`(can't remember the name), Sea of Thieves, Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2, Battletoads, the list goes on even into next gen with The Goop or whatever it's called.
Compared to what Sony is putting out. I don't even like most of their games but it's the optics on the games/systems/reception. Spiderman, Ghosts Of Tsushima, God of War, The Last Of Us 2 (I played TLOU2, biggest mistake ever), Uncharted, Horizon Zero Dawn, more that I'm forgetting. If you look at the list, Sony is producing critically acclaimed, console visual showcase bangers. Microsoft is making.....what exactly? Claymation gamepass fodder.
I'll continue to buy the Microsoft franchises I enjoy on PC, such as Gears, Halo and other smaller things. While I can opine about all this as I'm just 1 example, the sales numbers show the public opinion. PS4s sold, units sold of games, etc
I voted Halo CE on PC, but I wish MCC PC overall was 1 option.
@Medic_Alert @InterceptorAlpha I'm with you guys. I cancelled my XSX because without Halo there's nothing for me to buy it for, even as it was only for comparison sake. Everything will be better on PC for me. I'll get one eventually and will use it "as a generational investment" although that doesn't really mean much for Xbox since 2015 sadly.
Same reason I cancelled my PS5, nothing to buy for the foreseeable future.
Edit: I do think it's very interesting when you look at what counts as an "Xbox Studios" game now a days. This list is a great example of why the perception of Xbox games are so much lower quality than the other 2 companies. Outside Halo, Gears, Forza (the meme!) it's all just indie level stuff. And a few PC exclusives. Cue someone to rabidly call me a Playstation fanboy though, despite liking their 1st party exclusives even fewer and further between.
Been enjoying this type of thing for about 7 years on PC, glad to see it make it's way over to the consoles. Always hated wasting time and space on parts of the game I never plan on playing.
@Senua I always laugh when companies say "filmic" and "cinematic" when try to damage control their frame rate. Even more so when tje fanboys believe it.
It's been the standard for nearly 50 years, consoles have just recently failed to hit it the last 10-15. Glad to see it coming back, even if support is patchu so far. Although 60fps as a performance mode only is still a failure of both hardware and game design.
It was going to be comparing Halo Infinite, to see if it was only slightly behind or massively behind my PC version, but after that got (Infinitely) delayed, I cancelled my Xbox because I have no need.
@NEStalgia It's been a while, but iirc the PS4 1tb has around 750gb usable space, so I don't doubt the PS5 will have an even bigger OS portion than the Xbox.
@BlueOcean It's the lack of processing power. Load times involve storage, cpu, gpu and even to an extent, RAM. Even if you remove the time to access assets (like Switch's flash memory) if it has terrible processing power in all other departments, those will drag it down. The Switch being so absolutely woeful is why this happens.
I still can't believe they went with 5400rpm 2.5" drives in 2013 for Xbox One. It was about 13 years out of date at the time and with all that physical space in there? Yikes.
@BAMozzy Development for this started on the current gen sadly but was moved forward. I imagine they either kept the current gen design choice even when it was next gen only, or else now have to revert to a compromised base of game design to allow the current hardware.
@Porridge2215 I remember when the Nintendo fanboys were spamming "SMASH BROS RELEASE DRIVES UP WIIU SALES BY 400%!!!" back in Smash's launch in 2014. Then it was something like up from 900 to 3600 lol
I got a free copy with my laptop 2 weeks ago, but going to wait to play it on my new top end gaming rig in a few weeks. Looks great, like a remake done right.
@pip_muzz You can only play Xbox One/360/OG games from an external hard drive. All next gen games must be run from either the internal SSD or these expansion cards. External HDDs can only store next gen games, not play them.
@roe As long as the Xbox account has the license, I imagine it will work on multiple consoles.
@roe It's confirmed you can use external drives to store next gen games but noy play them from it. You just transfer them back and forth instead of wasting money on Microsoft's terrible storage solution.

Re: Team Xbox Has 'More To Come' In The Final 4 Weeks To Series X|S Launch
Hopefully 1 of those things is to show actual next gen gameplay running on XSX for a change
Re: Next-Gen Horror The Medium Releases This December For Xbox Series X|S
@Ralizah New AMD stuff announced yesterday too, so make that a Ryzen 5600 instead of 3600!
Re: Next-Gen Horror The Medium Releases This December For Xbox Series X|S
@Ralizah I just finished replaying Silent Hill last night and will be redoing 2-4 over the course of the month. His music is so good.
Also +1 for a substantial PC upgrade. Worth it.
Re: Xbox Kicks Off Series X|S Marketing Campaign With Spectacular Trailer
Still no next gen gameplay, I don't care for ads like this the same way I don't care about completely CG trailers for games.
Re: Next-Gen Horror The Medium Releases This December For Xbox Series X|S
Got the preorder discount on Steam the other day for €37, shame about the 1 month delay.
Re: GameStop Announces Multi-Year Strategic Partnership With Microsoft
If gamestop even lasts "multi years" at this point.
Re: Mortal Kombat 11 Brings The Fight To Xbox Series X|S With Smart Delivery
Dynamic 4k, yikes
Re: Microsoft: We Know People Want To See More Xbox Series X Gameplay
@NEStalgia "Next gen" eh? The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Re: There's Reportedly A Next-Gen Game That Runs At 8K, 60FPS
It's "The Falconeer" or whatever that game is, from what I've heard.

Storage. As a game collector, the X1X gets retired and added to the collection.

@Ricoche @mousieone @BAMozzy Thanks guys, I was looking on my phone so I missed them.

And yet the Xbox seems to have no rubber feet on the "side" for horizontal placement.....

Re: Phil Spencer: We're Years Away From 8K Being Standard In Games
It's only PC that is getting there now so far, but definitely not a standard.
Re: The Xbox Series X Looks Surprisingly Small Next To The PS5
@mousieone Bigger is better!
Re: The Xbox Series X Looks Surprisingly Small Next To The PS5
Saw a picture of an RTX3090 compared to an XSX last night, the GPU is longer (or taller depending on how you compare it) than the entire console lol.
To be expected though for a GPU much more powerful than the console.
Re: You Can Uninstall Different Parts Of Some Games On Xbox Series X|S

Re: 60FPS Should Be A Foundational Feature Of Next-Gen, Says Xbox Game Dev
@graysoncharles You say that jokingly, but I've been playing almost every game 1440p/120fps for 6 years now and I cringe going back to 60.
Re: 60FPS Should Be A Foundational Feature Of Next-Gen, Says Xbox Game Dev

Re: Video: Here's What Happens When You Turn On The Xbox Series X
An original Xbox One? The xbox one x is painfully long as it is!
Re: You'll Get 802GB Of Usable Storage Space With Your Xbox Series X

@TheGamerKing I expect it to extend to all 1st party games that they bother remastering. GoW, HZD, GoT, TLOU2, maybe more.

No surprise, I called it with at least $200 since being proprietary drives the price up. Can get a 1tb faster drive for less than this.
