Xbox boss Phil Spencer has been talking recently about how 8K is "aspirational technology", but nevertheless there's reportedly already a game that runs at 8K, 60FPS on next-gen consoles.
This is according to trusted tech specialists Digital Foundry, who stated in a livestream that they can't talk about it yet, but they know of a game that can reach that lofty performance target.
Here's what Technology Editor Richard Leadbetter had to say about it in the stream:
"There will be some simpler titles, Geometry Wars style titles that will be 8K - actually, we know of another 8K title, but I don't think we can talk about it yet."
And this was the response from DF's John Linneman:
"Yeah, there is at least one 8K, 60 title."
There's nothing else to go on for now, so it remains to be seen what game Digital Foundry is talking about, but don't get your hopes up for anything huge. In any case, the majority of us won't have the TV for it anyway!
Any guesses as to what this might be? Give us your predictions in the comments.

Pong. Tetris. Minesweeper. Some Where's Wally clone.
It's "The Falconeer" or whatever that game is, from what I've heard.
@JON22 That’s funny but a launch exclusive called The Falconeer will be probably the first game on Xbox Series X to run at 8K.

@Senua @Menchi Possibly, but I have doubts. I know it's loosely referenced in that article, but then it also goes on to say the game is focusing on 4K, 60fps.
I feel like the game DF is highlighting is something different. I've seen someone suggest it might be the next-gen version of The Touryst, which seems like a good shout.
@FraserG Really ?!? Can’t wait for next week then
Whoever developed Falconeer posted 8K at 60fps unless DF mean another game like @FraserG suggests.
lol it's Undertale
Thomas was alone?
I highly doubt it..
Without the details it doesn't really mean anything.
I could write a 16k 240fps version of pong right now that would work on a toaster.
The Falconeer is the most likely but could be Call of the Sea or some other Indie game - maybe even some 'old' games that can be made 8k via BC. Its not likely to be a AAA realistic looking game. Based on how well Ori scaled down to switch and still kept 60fps, its possible they could also offer an 8K/60 version of that too...
It'll be a fair few years before my TV is 8k. Just got a half decent 4k 65" to replace 4k 55" , so no way... Still at least I'll be future proof on the console front for now
But who even has a device that can show an 8k image? This is kinda cool, but I’d rather have a higher frame rate than an 8k picture.
Cool for the novelty, at the very least. I’d pick it up if I had an 8K, but honestly it’ll be 10 years.
Falconeer 8K/60 was stated days ago, unless there is a second game to now do it.
Probably something along the lines of Tetris Effect of something like that. Funnily enough that game would probably be more impressive in 8K/HDR than something like Gears or Halo would.
People think the fame falconeernisnwhat digital foundry is talking about? Nevermindnit was announced 7 days ago that it was 8k by xbox.com! I'm pretty darn sure they are talking about something else protected by an NDA.
