Finished the Doom Eternal DLC on PC last night. Will be doing Gears 1-3 on Xbox One BC over the next few days. Then 4 and 5 on PC. Waiting for November 10th for the PC updates (and new PC! Even though I already max out Gears 4 and 5).
I would be playing Halo 4 flights but 343 sent me the Xbox access, which I'm not even signed up for. And does it even have a current Xbox test? It's been out for 6 years.
Likely going to start a Gears 1-5 run tonight, so this will be a nice cap for the end. With all the new adjustments coming to PC on November 10th as well, it'll go well with my new top end PC I build on the 5th.
@AJDarkstar You know "ultra" isn't the highest setting on Gears 5 PC right? Didn't think so. You can even ask DF, where they compared the XSX build to current PC and found, surprise surprise, PC using Insane (higher than ultra) is better.
@Nightcrawler71 That's probably where the "auto update" comes in. It will presumably download the missing things needed for the next gen version, rather than the entire game again.
Also, given that in the AMA he says raytracing on Xbox, why was all mention of raytracing removed from the Watch Dogs Legion page on Xbox.com yesterday but every other game with it, still has it listed.
@Luigia The funny thing about that is the xbox one x version of 4k was largely a waste. Most games running at the lowest qualty settings (or frequently even lower than the lowest) and still getting 24fps.
Feel like "60fps is the target" shouldn't be included. With more and more 30fps games gonna be popping up as the standard output on them, even Aaron Greenberg, the worst marketing exec ever, has gone back and deleted his "60fps will be the default output" tweet.
@NEStalgia I view it more so as "people willing to accept a company cutting corners" instead of being a premium product in every way. But I guess with what we've seen from Microsoft so far for next gen, it's no surprise this is another compromise.
@StylesT Yes you can see it plain as day. The Xbox One X UI looks horrible in 4k because it's noticeably lower resolution. You'd expect that to change with the "world's most powerful console" but no, just like almost everything else next gen, this has been disappointing and a letdown.
@mousieone My point is they may not have added the promised improvements yet. Which were a decent amount of upgrades, including being slightly under PC's max setting now.
@eggsbox We'll see what happens on launch day, as the preview stuff for media has been terrible. I'm considering giving it another play later this year since all the enhancements (other than the ones that are already better on PC) are all coming to PC as well.
@NEStalgia All electronics warranty is at least 1 year here by law. I bought mine late 2015/early 2016 and it was unusable by the end of 2017. It was 2-3 weeks before the Xbox One X launch, so november?
As for the one with the grip issue, bought in early 2018, started peeling and falling off during lockdown, March/April 2020.
Edit: Stick drift is mainly an issue across tje board because most makers (Nintendo, Microsoft etc) use the same graphite pad base design.
@blinx01 Microsoft love to brag about everything they have and are doing, but show none of it. I'm going on what HAS been shown by people that have it since Microsoft don't want to.
Must be a US thing? Here in Ireland the warranty on it is 1 year, My original Elite (series 1) got stick drift after 2 years and was out of warranty and Microsoft said there were no options to help, not even a paid option.
However, big kudos to the rep on the phone because he advised me that "if you or anyone you know bought an Xbox One that is still in warranty, we can cover it with that". This was 2-3 weeks before I bough my launch day Project Scorpio Xbox One X. So I called back the day after I bought that and they sent me a full replacement (brand new box and all accessories) within 2 weeks. Then my Scorpio died a month later and I got a full refund on that lol
Edit: I went on to buy another Elite (series 1) because swapping the same one between Xbox One and PC was tiresome. My Xbox pad (which is the one Microsoft replaced) has since got practically no use and has no issues, but the one I keep for my PC gets heavy use for certain games and the grips have come off within the last few months.
@InterceptorAlpha They're both subpar tbh. Halo 4 was just kinda all over the place, between the bad guy, the whole cortana "love story" thing and the ending with how to beat the didact.
Halo 5 had a more cohesive plot, but it's still a bad one no one wanted, cared about or liked. 5 at least has solid gameplay.
I had assumed they were free after BC was added to Xbox One, since cloud saves for Xbox One were free. I never really got a chance to check. I only moved about 5 or 6 games to the cloud to use on Xbox One and last time I played them, I had gold. (Which was about 4 years ago)
This disappointment keeps rolling. It's 1 thing when you try finesse it with vague terms, but when you specifically build your marketing around "4k" "60fps" "120fps" "12TFLOP" "world's most powerful console" it's another thing.
@Nermannn That is much lower performance than the last few years of PC has turned in, let alone the brand new stuff that is so far ahead of these new consoles, it doesn't even warrant a comparison. Not a great showing for the "world's most powerful console" with "4k" and "60fps" all over their marketing.
And next gen exclusives show the new features properly, cross gen games cannot.
Here is a 4 year old, mid range GPU playing an open world racer at native 4k locked 60fps max detail for example.

Re: Halo 5 Won't Be Enhanced, But Will Perform Better On Xbox Series X
I'll just wait for the inevitable PC port, will be better anyway.
@AJDarkstar Series X will not play it better than PC.
Re: Gears 5's Input Latency Has Been Heavily Reduced On Xbox Series X
@Medic_Alert Look up nvidia reflex, it's pulling in lower (lower ms) numbers than this.
Re: Video: Here's 13 Minutes Of Horror-Adventure Scorn Running On Xbox Series X
Looks decent. I was curious about it when they showed the tech demo reveal of it originally. But now it has a decent showing, gameplay etc
I'll pick it up on PC to avoid those obvious (in production) frame rate issues.
Re: Control Ultimate Edition Requires A One-Time Internet Connection On Xbox
Like those "fact checked" Gears 5 and Batman Knight statements....
Re: Control Ultimate Edition Requires A One-Time Internet Connection On Xbox
@AJDarkstar Was a complete mess, not is. Works better than consoles for 4 years now. Late 2015 when the re-release happened.
And goalposts moved I see for Gears. Love that you were nice enough to include all those other games that play best on PC too.
But once you moved the goalposts onto your grave, that said it all.
Re: Control Ultimate Edition Requires A One-Time Internet Connection On Xbox

(Here's the comparison! https://twitter.com/Dachsjaeger/status/1317727357684404224?s=20 )
And the other enhancements that are currently only in XSX build? Also coming to PC on XSX launch day.
What about Arkham Knight? It plays at 90fps native 1440p with much higher quality than consoles in every way last time I played it a few months ago.
This guy shows it running even higher: https://youtu.be/5XnOH6bUWC0

Re: Gears Fans Really Want To See A 'Fenix Collection' On Xbox Series X
Hell yeah. Make it crossplay co-op with PC/Xbox so I can play with my friend who loves Gears as well but can't afford a PC.
They just have to fully redo them, because Ultimate Edition isn't great.
Re: Control Ultimate Edition Requires A One-Time Internet Connection On Xbox
@graysoncharles You mean like every game?
Re: Halo: The Master Chief Collection To Receive 120FPS Upgrade On Xbox Series X|S
Halo at 120fps is great. Been a joy with 120fps, mouse and keyboard
Re: Watch Dogs: Legion Runs At 4K, 30FPS On Xbox Series X & PS5

Absolutely laughably bad.

Waste of time.
or!
Xbox on PC!
Re: Poll: Would You Release Halo Infinite's Campaign & Multiplayer Separately?
Better not try charge me full price for the campaign then. Especially since I don't even want the multiplayer.

Re: Watch Dogs: Legion Runs At 4K, 30FPS On Xbox Series X & PS5
@gollumb82 RTX is an nvidia specific implimentation using hardware specific to nvidia GPUs.
RTX is not short for raytracing. These consoles and new AMD hardware coming absolutely can and will do raytracing, but that is not RTX.
Re: Watch Dogs: Legion Runs At 4K, 30FPS On Xbox Series X & PS5
@gollumb82 No console version of a game has RTX because these are all AMD based consoles.
Re: Watch Dogs: Legion Runs At 4K, 30FPS On Xbox Series X & PS5
@NEStalgia Demon's Souls is 4k/60fps with RT......
On PC since they slipped up and confirmed it for that too
Re: Watch Dogs: Legion Runs At 4K, 30FPS On Xbox Series X & PS5
"60fps will be the standard output"
Fire greenberg
Re: Series X Exclusives Could End Up On Xbox One Via Cloud Gaming
At least this way the games aren't limited in design by the Xbox One.

Have to see how it all works in the real world since you can't trust what these console makers say.

Loved it, I have man sized hands, still a good joypad to use other than the black/white button placement.

Re: 343 Has No Plans To Add Halo 5 To The Master Chief Collection
@Nickolaidas I expect it to come after MCC is finished (4 is testing this week). Something in the interim between MCC and Infinite.
Re: 343 Has No Plans To Add Halo 5 To The Master Chief Collection
They can just release it separately on PC so, I'm onto you 343
I'd love this as I used to play Firefight a ton back then.
Re: Xbox 360 Cloud Saves Will Soon Be Free For Everyone

Re: Fallout 4 Runs At Double The Frame Rate On Xbox Series X|S
@StonyKL Xbox One was less powerful than PS4 and every game reflected this.
That video.compares both base consoles.

Double 0 is still 0 though.
It's a joke relax. Fallout 4 and Xbox One always gives me a chuckle, simplu because of this video.

@themightyant I should, but I get a kick out of mental gymnastics fanboys tend to pull. In kind of a sad way.

@Senua Not sure why I'm tagged since this has nothing to do with the article or what I said. Or anything at all for that matter.

@Murray since you use your Xbox account for the game on PC (even if it's the Steam version) it all tracks progress.

@Richnj They won't be though.

Re: Dirt 5 Can Achieve A Near-Locked 120FPS On Xbox Series X
@Nermannn The DF video is already up
Dynamic 4k in quality mode
Dynamic 4k (with lower floor) in frame rate mode
1080p-1440p in 120fps mode
