It's time for the weekend! Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 is the obvious highlight for the next couple of days, but don't forget we've got more Xbox Game Pass additions along with Free Play Days titles and some great deals on the Xbox Store!
Here's what we're playing this weekend:
Fraser Gilbert, Editor
I'm still making my way through Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, so Hellblade 2 might have to wait until next weekend! I might also dip into Antstream Arcade to play some of those PS1 titles we talked about on Pure Xbox earlier this week.
Aside from that, it's probably a mix of Baldur's Gate 3 and TopSpin 2K25, along with maybe a dip into the likes of NHL 24 and WWE 2K24 - what can I say, I really do love my sports games! It's been a good year for them so far as well.
Have a good weekend, everyone!
Ben Kerry, Staff Writer
This weekend I'll likely be spending plenty of time with Ubisoft's XDefiant. Our review just went live, and with a double weapon XP weekend already confirmed, now seems like the perfect time to kick back and play some more of this free-to-play FPS on my own time.
Elsewhere, I might finally get chance to start playing Xbox Game Pass's Kona 2 - if I'm lucky. I quite enjoyed the first Kona, so I've been meaning to get around to this one for a while now. Thanks to Xbox Game Pass, I haven't had to fork out and buy the game on its own!
Have a great weekend, all.
What will you be playing on Xbox this weekend? Let us know down in the comments below.

Subbed to Gamepass for the month so Hellblade 2 and some Cult of the Lamb on PS5.
Hello there fellow gamers.
For this weekend I´ll continue my AC Origins second playtrough, this time on my Series X with both DLCs to play around and online matches in Street Fighter 6 on my PS5, sice Akuma just droped and, surprise, he is very fun to play and very fun to fight against.
I love what Capcom did with Sirn Akuma Giant Attack Boss fight in the Battle Hub. The game needs more of this stuff.
Cheers everyone and happy gaming weekend to us all
Off to Iceland with a madwoman! Really enjoying it so far, like a very grim, visceral (literally) art house movie.
I'm camping so I only have my Odin 2 this weekend. Ratchet & Clank Going Commando and Secret of Mana for me. Didn't start heckblade 2 yet because of this trip so that will be waiting for me when I get back Monday night.
Starfield with new update on new TV X95L 65”
Running at 60fps with other settings adjusted.
I’ve had many TVs top end Samsung, LG.
I must say this new Sony tv with my series x and overall set up is the best I’ve had.
The sharpness and smoothness on motion is the best in gaming I’ve seen.
They say Sony TVs have that motion flow edge and they definitely seem to do on my series x.
Everything just works as where with LG and Samsung there is always something not working exactly right all the time.
I find it amusing that a Sony tv works the best with my series x.
Hellblade 2 for the 100% completion, Wasteland 3 DLC.and continue Chants of Sennaar. Have a great weekend everyone, more so to those in Blighty, it's a long one 😀.
Finished: Atomic Heart - a game less than the sum of its parts, awkward but visually interesting; Gris - elegant but not particularly novel; Zombie Army 4 - surprisingly lots of fun, no dialogue or puzzles to interrupt you.
Trying to finish Diablo 4 coop and starting Everspace 2.
Just finished Operation: Guns In Vampire Survivors in co-op last night. We still need to finish a few things in the regular game mode (collection & bestiary) but otherwise looking good.
We tried Bread & Fred in the switch. Noooooppe!!
@Old_Man_Harper madwomen are the best.
i've watched some hellblade 1 and 2 streamers and know its not for me. i do like her sword and the sounds it makes and as a death stranding fan i like the environment.
gonna play some medal of honor frontline for memorial day.
I am a playing the CROWN WARS. The black prince. It is a game like XCOM. In the Middle Ages Medieval, very good
Indika and slowly getting back into Elden Ring to reacquaint myself with it for Erdtree. Outside that, just Banishers sits in the backlog now. I can finish this backlog before Erdtree!
I have played both Senua games for the first time this week. I wrote my impressions on the "Now Playing on Xbox Series S|X" thread. I didn't expect it, but both games are incredible experiences, very worth playing even if you think they're not your kind of games, because that's why I hadn't played the first game until now. I also found very interesting how different both games are. The first game took me 10h 7m and the second game 8h 43m, not looking for collectibles. Headphones and Dolby Atmos for Headphones recommended, OLED TV too, if possible.
EDIT: Watching Youtube to guess if you'd like them is pointless.
Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit (Windows Phone) - Nearly done with it now.
I finished Hellblade 2 the same day it came out, so not that. It was alright, maybe even good. But the gameplay lacks depth, and it can be boring at times. This weekend I'll be testing out the waters in Sonar Shock which is a System Shock inspired game that takes place in a submarine. Just came out yesterday on Steam and it looks amazing. Maybe some more Fallout 76 with the guys tonight too.
Playing Rise of the Ronin and WRC 10 this weekend. I do have Hellblade 2 installed on the PC through gamepass but not sure if I'll start that. We shall see.
Pretty busy week and some great weather here meant less gaming than usual but I still managed to play some 🙂
Hellblade 2 - Wow! Loved the first game, and this is better. The graphics and sound are simply amazing, and the overall experience 2-3 hours in is really great. Now, this game is not for everyone, just like the first one. Its a dark and grim walking sim for pretty long sections at a time so far, but damn its a good one!
Xdefiant - I said I would play a few games and I have. Its not bad, but not great either. Theres potential, and my son likes it more than me, but I feel likes theres some work to be done if Ubi wants players to stick around.
The Settlers - new allies - I played some of the tutorials and it looks the part but I didnt get that warm and cosy nostalgia I was hoping for. But it seems pretty good so I will play some more. Would be better with m&k of course but it was better than expected with a controller.
Watched the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy so I'm finally able to play Jedi: Fallen Order. Really liking the combat and enemy variety. Really hating most of the time I don't know where the hell I'm supposed to go. And the map sucks.
@Cyberpunk1964
Wait, what? For some reason I was under the impression that one was real time, but I love XCOM.
Can you customize your units? Gotta have to check some videos now. Thanks for sharing.
@OldGamer999 - I’m guessing yours is a newer (and better) set than mine, but I’m really happy with my Sony OLED (A80J) - 120hz, vrr, excellent quality visuals, motion and sound. I had an LG C series prior to the Sony and I know they are recommended for gamers but I’ve found the Sony is superior for gaming, movies and general tv. Enjoy! I’m playing Starfield and a few rounds of PGA Tour Golf this weekend.
PS5: Stellar Blade Bossrush mode and 3rd run to collect every outfit. I cant wait! Game is so good and I keep coming back even though I already platted it.
Recently finished: Hellblade 2. Incredible game. Really enjoyed all aspects off it except Senuas slow ass walking. Took me about 7hrs to finish without a guide. Will go back for the rest of the collectibles. Another GOTY contender for me.
Sidenote. I now wish a new Xenoblade game would drop this year so that I'd have one new "blade" exclusive game across my consoles fighting over GOTY. lol.
Have a good weekend everybody.

@Feffster
Mine is the 2023 model but you are spot on something about Sony TV and motion and just working. I had an LG OLED as well and used to swear by it. But not now.
Also the upscaling is far superior when watching old tv programmes.
I have to give this one to Sony even they do annoy me most of the time 🤣🤣🤣
Assassin's Creed 2 in TEC and Paper Mario 2 on Switch.
On Xbox: System Shock, Baldurs's Gate III and Neptunia: Sisters Vs. Sisters with Vampire Survivors on the side.
On Switch: Trails of Cold Steel IV, Red Dead Redemption, Robotics;Notes and Crisis Core FFVII: Reunion.
On PS5: Nothing due to all of the games mentioned above.
Playing the OG Assassin’s Creed, Brotato and usually a surprise or two lurking in the backlog… enjoy your weekend!
I'm really trying to get into Hellblade 2. So far, I can't. Lol.
@Romans12 yeah I played it for about 2 hours and shelved it. Awesome looking game but couldn't get into it gameplay wise.
Started Jedi Survivor. Really liking it so far, and I like how much from fallen order transferred to this one (I had very little trouble remembering all the traversal and combat moves)
Apparently Hellblade 2 is only 7-8 hours long, but it’ll probably take me about 30 because I keep stopping to take pictures! 😂 Total eye candy.
XDefiant (Series X) Really enjoying this game. It captures the feel of an old school CoD really well. It feels so good to have a good FPS game again. With the Double Weapon XP weekend going on I will be grinding out some guns.
World of Warcraft (PC) Still grinding out MoP Remix. I am loving it still and enjoying my Troll Paladin.
Will finish hellblade 2, really good game but do have some advice for others trying it out. First look at the controls. This one doesnt have a tutorial so its easy to miss things like running with the L1 button. Also use focus to find hidden paths. Also tinker settings, I am playing on Series S anda It looked quite blurrey, turns out motion blur is default at max, I changed ir and It looks way better. Lastly it has dynamic difficulty, so if you feel its too hard be sure to change it.
Hellblade 2, giving Animal Well a shot, Nier: Automata, and Starfield (so far).
What am I playing this weekend?
Nothing.
Moving house the day after tomorrow, so everything is in boxes right now. So, ask me again in a few weeks, once I unpack.
I am curious to see what Starfield is like now, mind you.
And I seriously recommend keeping the boxes for your consoles and other electronic equipment. You never know when it will come in useful.
@IGN_Commenter I enjoyed zombie army 4 too. Shame about DLC amounts but we go back when cheaper
XDefiant for me with some dead island 2. Skipping cut scenes on dead island as characters so annoying but enjoying overal. XDefiant seems ok, don’t think I’ll stick around long on it like I did with apex legends when that came out. Enjoying double Xperia weekend though. Only 1 MVP so far in about 15 to 20 games
Will wrap up Hellblade 2 and then play some Senuas Sacrifice and also some Mad Max, just saw Furiosa in the cinema and it had some throwbacks to the game.
Tunic for me, it's brilliant
@brettvsgodzilla lol yeah I literally skipped every dialogue/cut scene. I really liked slaying zombies but the voices and characters annoyed me. I have no idea what the game was about but I beat it
Just finished Immortals of Aveum, was actually a really solid game, enough for me to buy a retail copy
Spider-Man: Web of Shadows (Xbox 360) and Far Cry 3 (Xbox 360).
Tryna try out all these damn warhammer games—they don’t give you enough time!
And still trying to finish Eiyuden
Rotating between: Hellblade 2 and xDefiant, having a great time with both!
@Sol4ris
We do love a bank holiday Monday 😊
Moved onto Jedi survivor now, series x.
@Banjo-
Always been a big OLED fan LG, Samsung.
But got myself a Sony X95L 65” mini LED.
With that Sony smoothness and motion it’s the best my series x has ever been. Also the colour punch as well.
Thought I would have VRR, 4K, 120hz issues.
But so far perfect. Also not getting any earc sound issues with Dolby Atmos.
On the wall so now I have hide those wires some how 🤣
I always moan about Sony a lot, but have to give them this one.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider for me. I know it's been out for years but I didn't bother with it first time round. Beat Evil West during the week. Found it great fun
I've just finshed up with Hellblade 2, hoping to make a start on Sand Land if I get the time.
Going on vacation and will be playing only my Switch, will start my first playthrough of Zelda TOTK
@Lup the map of the first game really sucks. They improved the maps of Survivor, but still could be better. Aside from that it's a great game and I'm looking for the sequel
The Warriors
I just completed Sea of Stars, so moving on to coffee talk2 and started hellblade 1 too yesterday. Might also give mario Rabbids 2 a try on the switch, but we'll see. Enjoy guys (especially those with bank holiday in the UK)
Hellblade 2, Jedi Survivor.
Mainly Hellblade 2, which is awesome!
Still on Pinball fx. Trying to keep my scores higher than my mates lol. And civ 6 to chill out with.
Alrighty here we go with another wonderful edition of WAYP. Yet again from the beautiful Ocracoke Island of the Outer Banks. Been a great first week of vacation with loads of excellent beach days and some excellent gaming. Got super sunburned already hahaha. Was able to beat Another Code and Princess Peach Showtime. As well as starting Endless Ocean and Little Kitty and let me tell you all of those games are highly recommended and absolutely excellent. Of course outside of the beach the highlight of this week has to have been King and Queen of the Ring. Absolutely excellent PLE and hey who wouldn’t like to see Logan Paul get his butt kicked cheater that he is. Big congrats to Cody Rhodes and Liv Morgan and Randy Orten and Lyra Valkyria on this one they did excellent. As for the rest of the weekend I beat Trails Into Reverie last night and I’m thinking of doing the little post game tonight and getting the connecting line between it and Daybreak. And probably some Persona 3 Reload. As for the rest of the week I’m thinking of keeping it nice and simple. Start Paper Mario and Story of Seasons A Wonderful Life on Switch and Sand Land on PS5. And otherwise just beat things like Side Order for Splatoon 3 and reinstall and work on games like Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth and Rise of The Ronin. Stellar Blade too I’m absolutely loving it. In terms of anime this weel ima keep it nice and simple and give love to Kaiju No.8, Demon Slayer, Urusei Yatsura, Delicious In Dungeon, and Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio. All simply excellent. Podcasts of this week gotta go to Castle Superbeast, Big Think Dimension, Into The Aether, RPGsites Tetracast, Minnmax, Jeff Gerstmann, Kit and Krysta, Last Stand Media, Easy Allies, Fire Escape and Second Wind. Definitely think I’m gonna try to knock out the like 8 hour long GOTY episodes of Into The Aether, Tetracast, and Fire Escape. And of course we wouldn’t be quite done without a special shoutout to my dear awesome friend over at twitch.tv/akibread and their awesome streams. As always yall stay safe and be good to each other. Have a awesome weekend and of course Happy Gaming.
@Gollum can you dig iiiiiiiiit. Classic
@BrotherFilmriss caught it today and will be starting the game soon, can’t wait as enjoyed the film
Couldn't game much this weekend, but paper mario ttyd and hellblade 2
Managed a couple of hours of AC Valhalla on Saturday afternoon but we’ve been super busy all weekend. Any ‘spare’ time I’ve had has gone into helping my 13yr old maintain momentum with learning how to code Roblox games. He’s really into it right now but I have to learn lots of stuff alongside him so we can write/debug together. Its far more capable than I thought and learn to code after a 30yr hiatus is actually pretty cool.
