Really strong showcase. I made it 30 announcements, over half announced as coming in 2024, 18 games coming to game pass.
Wow was that a let down no answers to PlayStation releases no answers to handheld and nothing about halo or gears 6 or starcraft ect …
Incredible, just incredible 😁
They smashed it😎 even better than last years🙂
Can I just say what the ***** have they done to Dragon Age, that trailer was a crime. God awful.
@TheSimulator dooms ps5 n guess most 3rd party are multi plat
Was virtually perfect for me no pun intended lol fantastic showcase the only thing I could say with being a banjo kazoie fan is with the rumours I was hoping it would show up oh well 😔 it was still amazing
@TheSimulator they aren’t going to babble about Playstation at a showcase like this…
Could have done with the handheld though!
Yes I'll play the vast majority of them, what an insane list of games
Very strong showcase compared to the competitors so far
@Fenbops
My heart sank when I saw that. Very worried about that game.
One of the best showcases in history! I'm so excited for Dragon Age The Veilguard and for Life is Strange Double Exposure. I'm pre-ordering as soon as possible!
@K1LLEGAL they don’t have to say PlayStation but to not let us not worry about our catalog in the near future if they plan on just dumping games on Sony would make sense rather have Rumours every week or release
Fantastic lineup! Can’t wait for Perfect Dark. I might try FragPunk
That was an amazing showcase. What a lineup! The next year and a half are going to be an amazing experience for Xbox gamers.
It was quite a show! Top quality! Most interesting stuff in 2025 though.
They announced new consoles but nothing about the Sebile controller?
An outstanding showcase!
Xbox once again the king of entertainment!
That showcase was insane. So many awesome games. Probably one of the best I've seen in years from any of the big 3. Congrats MS and well deserved
From just reading seems fair. Not seen the trailers. 3am when it happened.
Dragon age trailer nice. That soon of Fall 2024 I expected 2025 pretty nice.
South of Midnight looks good.
Gears, the others of Indy, PD, Fable better be good.
The survival game better be good. The music one could be hit or miss. Another 5v5 uh huh. Everything else is passable.
For variety it's fair. Some fair stuff. No ABK backwards compatibility at Activision's then whelp Prototype, TimeShift, Pitdall (OFFER US A PITFALL GAME TO COMPETE WITH INDY/TOMB RAIDER ACTIVISION YOU COWARDS) or others on the 360 then go get stuffed. Whelp COD of old on PS2 instead of the Xbox versions or any other games on PS3/360 IPs not my Xbox One+ that sits around all day whenever I rarely I feel like using it.
Having seen nothing just reading from this list I'd say a C. If they are good trailers a B but otherwise the extras are a D for what the heck is wrong with this industry.
Eh events. Decent.
@TheSimulator Gears "6" is E-Day and I don't see them talking about PS on an Xbox Showcase. Even what they said about CoD never mentioned PS by name.
Lots of good stuff. However another year where Microsoft disavow any knowledge of Halo but they looovvve sticking Chief on their promos. The gaul…
@TheSimulator We're getting Gears of War: E-Day so much better than Gears 6
Fable, South of Midnight, Doom, and Expedition 33 next year for me.
I’ll try Avowed, but I can’t wait for Life is Strange and Indy. Honestly, AC Shadows looks really solid to me too.
Cautiously optimistic on MGS and even Perfect Dark. Not interested in anything else, but it was so diverse a line-up that it has that “something for everyone” vibe. I do wish Silksong and Replaced would’ve gotten updates and the lack of release dates for 2024 titles is baffling, but honestly it feels like Xbox is back after years of let downs.
Now I just need that Nintendo Direct and I can plan my whole year in gaming (well, I’m still waiting to know more about Lost Records, but I think that’s the only game floating on my spreadsheet now as a 2024? title).
I appreciate MS for keeping the E3 spirit alive, but I was pretty bored by this. There wasn’t a lot of actual gameplay shown, although it was nice that they showed in game for Perfect Dark and Fable but very little other than that interested me. We all knew a new Gears of War game was coming and I like the concept but once again just a CGI movie. I enjoy the show they do earlier in the year more. No mention of Activision additions to Game Pass, no shadow drop, no Xbox portable and no Banjo. A lot shown but quantity over quality. Sorry, the worst one since the new post E3 concept and I have been really looking forward to this.
My quick reactions:
Many more things have me interested. They definitively had more to show than they had time and that's awesome.
Do the math … 18 games announced for 2024 and only 6 months left… we will be eating well…
Always got to be a few haters. “Quantity over quality.” I honestly don’t think I’ve ever seen a showcase jam packed with that much quality. Almost everything looked great!
30 games.. seemingly only 6 cross platform. Holy hell they just utterly embarrassed Sony. Hence why not many PS4 players are upgrading to PS5, no new games only on PS5 worth playing. Xbox just gave people 30 reasons to get an Xbox Series console.
Xbox knocked it outta the park. What a showcase A++
This is great, but where are the JRPGs that people were saying to look out for? Is that coming up in other shows this week?
Were supposed to look out for Mistwalker, Square-Enix, Sega/Atlus... Definitely thought there would be Game Pass announcements, not just an Octopath 2 shadow drop.
@S1ayeR74 ye hopefully Sony start pulling there finger out and ditch the live service stuff. competition is good especially for us gamers I just want see great games on every system and the future is looking good for xbox gamers that's for sure
@northernmonkey75 “ No mention of Activision additions to Game Pass, no shadow drop, no Xbox portable and no Banjo”
Doesn’t Xbox usually hope after showcase events where they do deep dives on game, and announced further thing? Pointless to waste time announcing that stuff doing the main showcase
Dragon Age looked gross. I also don't understand why they bother showing multi-platform stuff when there's so much exclusive, first-party, and Game Pass stuff to show. I feel like there's a lot more that didn't even make it in.
Outstanding showcase, and great work making this article.
Perfect Dark is what us Dishonored and Deus Ex fans deserve after being treated so badly. It looks awesome!
@S1ayeR74 @Dan1283 Sony was planning to make online games because some of them are the most played games worldwide, e.g. Fortnite, but then changed their mind, so they barely had anything for PS5 last year or this year and they said that they won't have any new AAA games until at least March next year. It was a good idea to acquire Helldivers 2.
I had a great feeling about this show and it has not disappointed even a little bit. Best Xbox show I have seen in a long time. Now let’s see what Phil says…
@Banjo- I have heard that's what's happened ye
Xbox blew this out of the park. So many amazing games. Can't wait I hope non of them go to ps5 and stay on xbox. XBOX KILLED IT IM SO PUMPED FOR THE FUTURE OF XBOX!!! And yes I'm shouting.
@Banjo-
Well I did really enjoy that.
I bet you did as well 😊
@Dan1283 I was hoping for a Banjo-Kazooie game too lol. I hope the rumors about there being a new game in development are true! The guy who said that I believe is fairly reputable, but I’ll still take it with a grain of salt.
@Banjo- Plus, didn’t some of those online games get cancelled after they figured out that the live service model wasn’t going to work? I remember hearing they were working on a Last of Us online game for a few years that got cancelled after Bungie assessed the game. It sucks that the project didn’t get finished, since I heard a lot of people were hyped for it.
Really cool show, beat Sony square and I say that as a one would call PS fanboy
Looking forward to GoW 6, Doom, Indiana Jones, Perfect Dark and South of Midnight.
But when are pre-existing Activision Blizzard games releasing on Game Pass?
@OldGamer999 Yes, no Banjo yet grrrr, but Gears of War is back to its essence and that's honestly so brave these days that I'm touched.
@Dan1283 @Pastellioli Of course, I was hoping for Banjo-Kazooie. I suspect that it's being worked on, but it's still in the early development stage.
@Pastellioli Yes, I think that Sony cancelled a lot of stuff that was probably almost ready. They say that Sony acquired Bungie specifically to help with that kind of online games they were planning to release.
@Pastellioli That... was not my intention at all after 18:00. I hope you enjoyed the show and chat!
@Banjo- I most certainly did enjoy the chat alongside the showcase and reading everyone’s excited reactions to the games! It was so fun getting to talk to you and everyone else.
Also, what do you mean by the intention thing? I can’t reread older messages in the chat.
@Pastellioli Nah, what those two posted, don't worry. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Me too!
I couldn't care less if some of these do come to Sony Playstation - either day/date (CoD, Doom) or release 'eventually' in a year or more. It won't affect my ability to play Day/Date at NO extra cost to myself thanks to Game Pass.
The 'cost' to play CoD, Stalker 2 and Indiana Jones for example is more than I pay for a year of Game Pass Ultimate and if they all released on PS5 day/date, I'm still better off playing on my Xbox or PC. I won't be spending '£70' on PS5 to play BO3, I'll play it on Xbox for free - same with Doom too.
With all the Games coming in 2025 as well, I don't see any reason to cancel my Subscription. I really don't see what all the fuss is - yes others can and will be enjoying a MS owned IP bringing in 'Revenue' from their closest Competitor's platform which will be 'invested' into MS's ecosystem and being a Subscriber in that 'ecosystem', I benefit from that...
I'd rather MS sort to extract 'money' from Customers outside their ecosystem than tried to extract 'more' from their own Customers by raising prices or not putting games day 1 into game pass.
The best value to play these games will be on Xbox - it would cost you 'more' to play on Playstation. To me, the value of Game Pass for the next 18months is not in question....
Replaced, Replaced where's Replaced?
It was a great showcase for Xbox fans. And xbox has an identity again: Shooters, Demon stuff, western RPG’s and space stuff. All that belongs on xbox.
Got to admit, too much gore for me. Especially that diablo iv trailer, that one made me shiver. And they’ve clearly stepped away from the smaller productions like hi-fi rush or pentiment. We’ll never see that again from xbox.
I’m mainly looking forward to the more light-hearted Indian Jones, Fable, Flight Simulator, Perfect Dark and Metal Gear Solid D. And Stalker 2 because the first one was so, so good.
Edit: almost forgot Expedition 33. Thát looked like my cup of tea.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers was my surprise highlight. I love the soulslike genre so much. This game looks very promising! Very happy that Microsoft are continuing to invest in the genre after the success of Lies of P launching on Game Pass.
Hyped for more Gears of War. South of Midnight and Fable both look very intriguing and bode well for 2025 I think. Indiana Jones and Doom both looked good. Life is Strange going back to Max as protagonist definitely caught my attention too. I really wasn’t a fan of Flintlock’s trailer styling, but the game itself looks good so I’m excited to try it out.
A few highlights and things I'll either continue being, as we saw a lot of them last year, or start being cautiously optimistic for. However, far too many CG trailers for what will likely end up being forgettable, cookie-cutter action games, things we saw at last year's showcase that we're still waiting for and things that may or may not come some time next year. Nothing on the abk back catalogue.
@Banjo- Oh ok! Got it.
@Friendly Yep, I don't usually like gory games with a few exceptions because of the gameplay, story or tone, like Doom, but Fable, Perfect Dark, Indiana Jones, Flight Simulator and, hopefully, Banjo-Kazooie exist! The thing that impressed me the most about that Diablo trailer in a positive sense is the amazingly realistic faces.
@TheSimulator They showed Gears 6, it's called Gears of War: E-Day
I missed everything after the Doom video because I spent the rest of the show cleaning my underwear and pants.
That was very strong showing. Loads of great titles there and easily the best summer show.
You could point to a lot of 2025 release dates and a couple of titles much further off, but I prefer MS stratagey of letting you know whats coming in the future compared to the empty silence of Sony on their 2025 plans.
I honestly dont think the handheld market is the best vision for them, so Im releaved that appears to be conjecture only.
Im also really relieved to see the Fable trailer. I wasnt convinced by last years, but Im now a believer, sign me up.
This was the showing MS needed to reward the fans who've had to endure a lot of unanswered speculation all year. Bravo!
Exciting times. My gamepass subscription going to be in full use.
Well, just had a good look at all these in a 1 hour video. Many many interesting concepts, I'm sure many will turn out to be really good games.
Despite all drama people are putting so much effort in creating, Xbox is not a bad place to be in my opinion (coming from a guy that only had a 360 before and didn't play it that much) it should all be about the games, let's see how it goes. Looking forward to these only shame is not having more to try all these.
Only thing I'm missing is more platforming games, Xbox has a bunch of good IPs. I would really like them to give some old (and new) IPs a try again (Rare's ones, Blinx, Crash, Spyro, ) would be good to see more FP movement there. Sure will get there some time.
@ZYDIO but you were back just in time for the gears e-day reveal 😉
The thing I liked the most about this showcase: there were four live service games: wow, fallout 76, elder scrolls online, sea of thieves. But none of those are new.
And there was one hero shooter but that one looked different from all the others, and with big head mode, i mean come ON. And one mmo mech shooter, also looked very cool.
The rest is, as far as I can tell, single player games with some multiplayer stuff if you want? So different from the direction Sony is going. Way way better. Hopefully xbox wont leave its ID@xbox program behind, though. AAA and indies complement each other.
@Stamnoso I was also hoping for some platformer games to show up too. I’m a pretty big fan of Rare’s platformer IPs, and that’s actually what sparked my interest in Xbox. I think a lot of the platformer IPs Microsoft has under their helm have potential to work in the modern day, as long as they have good ideas and are developed by a game studio with experience in making platformer games.
@Friendly I can handle gore, but mostly if it’s in a game with outdated or older graphics and maybe if it is exaggerated and over the top. Some of the violence and gore shown in the showcase was pretty brutal to watch. Can agree that the Diablo cinematic was pretty violent, paired with the screaming during that one part of it. Even though I was able to handle most of the gore, it can still send shivers down my spine and make me feel a certain way.
I would also like to see smaller games from Microsoft too! Those actually appeal to me the most than the more bigger games.
Meh, I can understand people would like it but I just flicked through it and everything I liked had already been announced (Indiana Jones, fable). Just really want something unexpected like Banjo.
I just watched the showcase. All I can say is wow. That was incredible. So many games, so many different types for everyone’s liking. If someone has a negative comment about that then they obviously don’t enjoy games and shouldn’t be playing.
I actually got what I wished for. A new Gears OF WAR, instead of Gears 6 😂👍👍
Just to make sure I didn't miss it, no huge shadow drop of gp games?
@NintendoByNature Nope. The show didn’t discuss Game Pass or any shadowdrops on there surprisingly. They will likely get into that at a later time.
@Medic_alert Hm! That is a lot of 2025 releases.
I wonder how much different xbox would be if the pandemic didn't push everything back. We are clearly at that point xbox had been telling us was coming. There really shouldn't be too many periods where they don't have a big first party game more than a few months away.
If this happened 2 years ago the console gap would probably be much closer.
@Banjo- They own the HellDivers IP,, they didn't aquire it.
Am I the only one that just isn't smoking crack that everyone else is? Because this is not a good showcase at all. Just because it's better than the atrocity of state of play or gamefest doesn't mean it's good.
We have a gears of war prequel no one asked for instead of gears 6, a perfect dark without rare, no banjo kazooie game, and call of duty 6's big feature is extra frames in movement. Literally, extra frames in movement.
It's a D at best and only because doom looks kind of interesting
@Pastellioli ok just making sure. I would've bet money we'd get anywhere from 2-4 drops today, and nothing. Oh well. I have a bunch to play anyway.
@NintendoByNature I was also expecting a shadow drop of Game Pass games, but they could possibly be saving some of the more exciting stuff for later!
There were some really nice looking games in the show. Not all of them appeal to me, but as most of them are coming to gamepass, I'll definitely give them a go. Was hoping to hear more about Activision games, but nothing. 🤷♂️
Most excited for DOOM and Gears of War.
@Pastellioli Agree, I think there is plenty of potential, they just need to be developed by a right group of people. Oh well...fingers crossed, I'm sure at some point we'll some good stuff on that front.
Agree on smaller games too, nowadays I tend play more small and indie games that AAA.
Really strong showcase. Gears/Perfect Dark and Doom I what I'm looking forward to most. I just wish we had a few more releases dates and more penned in for 2024.
I can't believe I have to keep warning people, don't trust Konami. Please don't pre-order Metal Gear Solid Delta. Kojima has nothing to do with this remake, and Konami is a creatively bankrupt company. Just look at Silent Hill 2 remake if you don't believe me.
I am not sure how anyone can call the showcase a ‘let down’ or a ‘disappointment’.
We constantly hear about there being not enough games or not enough quality and then when we get what was a stunning showcase of quality games, people are still not happy!!
Of course, we all want to know what the future holds for Xbox in terms of hardware and exclusives but to be honest, we cannot control that. We will be told when we are told. It’s pointless worrying about it right now.
Just enjoy the incredible games that are coming to Xbox this year and next!
The rest will look after itself.
It is time that gamers stopped moaning and actually just got on with playing games!!!
Not a ton for me but I like the variety I see. Hope that leads to great sales.
For me South of Midnight and Shattered Space are the big hitters. Already preordered AC Shadows and Age of Mythology will be a double dip. Still curious about Fable though.
THIS was the showcase that the Xbox brand NEEDED! Absolutely awesome! The closest thing to an E3 press conference since E3 went bye bye. And for all of those saying "well a lot of the games shown are multiplatform so why do I need an Xbox?" Hey if you want to spend $70 per game for ALL of these games, great, go ahead. For myself and a lot of others who aren't exactly flush with cash in this economy, Game Pass is an absolute game changer! Now Micro$oft needs to capitalize on the positive reaction and hype of this showcase and spend some of their $3 TRILLION (with a Capital 'T' on traditional forms of marketing with TV commercials and print ads.

No new Zelda, Mario, Horizon, Ratchet and Clank or Sonic, that blows. Xbox is so screwed, they won't last another month. Sony will buy them out soon and everyone will be happy.
