Re: Xbox Game Pass Gets Price Increases And New 'Standard' Subscription Tier

Daniel1221

I get that people are annoyed with the price increase but Game Pass is still great value. Do I like COD? No, but that doesn't mean that I can't appreciate the extra value it provides to the service. Plus, being realistic, we expect more Activision games to come to the service, not just BO6 so the increase for that, along with general inflation, is fair. You can still stack up on the subs, and buy codes at the cheaper price now and use them as and when it makes sense for you as well. I've got just over a year left on my sub and will be doing just that.

Re: Talking Point: What Convinced You To Pick Xbox In The First Place?

Daniel1221

I remember seeing gameplay of the original Forza Horizon and falling in love with it. Subsequently played a good bit of FM4 and other games. Seeing Horizon 3, combined with backwards compatibility, and gamepass made it a no brainer for me. I do think Xbox has it's issues currently, but I still don't regret my choice

Re: Here's Everything That Was Revealed At The Xbox Games Showcase 2023

Daniel1221

Hyped for Forza, Cities 2, and Flight Sim (which took my breath away once more!). Disappointed the show was only an hour, but the fast pace meant that when a game didn't appeal to me, I wasn't waiting for the next one for too long. Plus, we have the extended showcase for more gameplay.

For those complaining about the lack of non-delayed games for this year, I agree. However, I would argue that both Forza and Starfield are heavy hitters, and it's important to remember that things take time - many of 24s titles would have been pencilled in internally for this year but delayed so that the games could be better, which is what we all want.

The lack of concrete release dates was also a clever move in my opinion - by not announcing dates too soon, there's less disappointed in the long run as games don't get (publicly at least) delayed.

Really enjoyed this showcase, even if I was disappointed not to see more of what others want (such as Gears), and think it was definitely the best so far. Let's all hope that Xbox can build on this strong momentum going forwards

Re: Talking Point: How Often Do You Use Your Xbox To Watch TV In 2022?

Daniel1221

I have a Samsung Smart TV and used to use the likes of YouTube and what have you that way but have since started using my Xbox as I can plug my earphones into my controller thus not annoying any of my housemate with my noise. Only downside is that for some apps, like Prime, the controller turns itself off after 20 minutes and there doesn't appear to be a way to change that

Re: #SaveProClubs Goes Viral As FIFA 23 Players 'Demand Answers' From EA

Daniel1221

It's not pro clubs though, is it? The F1 game has taken a monumental step backwards this year (in my opinion!) with EA only caring about how to milk every single game of theirs dry as opposed to making high quality games. The irony is that they posted that tweet about how 'shes a 10 but only plays single-player games' when they can't even get the online elements right

Re: These 12 Games Are Coming To Xbox Game Pass (July 5-14)

Daniel1221

Good to see some kids titles: whilst they won't appeal to the majority of us, it's good to see Xbox offering a greater level of variety. Been debating whether or not to buy Road 96 so that's settled me debate; I'll give it a go and, if I like it, I'll pick it up down the line. Finally, people may mock powerwash simulator but I've been enjoying House Flipper a surprising amount since it joined GP: it's a different change of pace and it's good to have games other than FPS'

Re: Xbox Games With Gold For July 2022 Announced

Daniel1221

This is getting pathetic now. Whilst I'm happy to have Thrillville (as it will mean I can sell my copy), when you look at what PlayStation offers month after month, this is not good enough.

I know the argument is that this is a 'bonus' each month - and I get that - and I also understand that Gamepass exists and the value it offers (which is monumental!) but, when PlayStation offers Crash 4, God of War (admittedly an exclusive), and Fifa in the span of three months, what Xbox offers is awful.

The worst part is the fact that there is no reason as to why, right? Xbox owns a significant number of studios now and could easily offer some back catalogue games from said studio for minimal cost then, they could use the savings from this and work with a close partner (like EA, or Activision) and secure a heavy-hitter game and actually offer something that makes people go wow. I can't remember the last time GWG has made me do that

Re: PlayStation's Xbox Game Pass Competitor Goes Live Today In The US

Daniel1221

@uptownsoul For sure, and I completely understand the fact that some don't like / know how to do it this way. For me, both subscriptions offer great value if you a) have enough time and b) make use of them. For me, £11 a month wouldn't make sense as whilst I get some use, it's not to that extent. At £2.50 a month, it's the only subscription I pay for

Re: Rumour: Fable & Perfect Dark Won't Be At The Xbox Games Showcase

Daniel1221

I don't really care for either franchise but I'm glad they're not being shown - if they're not ready, don't bother with a CGI trailer as they'll be forgotten quickly and the hype will quickly be lost.

The fact that Xbox have got their announcements out of the way today, and have enough for the showcase on Sunday is fantastic: so much for Xbox not having much, hey?

Re: Forza Horizon 5's First Expansion Has Leaked On The Steam Store

Daniel1221

@Grumblevolcano Potentially but that would be rather underwhelming. I know Playground are also working on the Fable reboot (plus the longer-term effects from the pandemic) but to take this long but be nothing more than a remake of the expansion would be disappointing. With that being said, I never experienced the DLC on FH3 so that'd be nice.

Re: PSA: Arma Reforger Has A Free Trial On Xbox Series X And Series S

Daniel1221

Is it just me or is it sad that an article about a free trial has to be published? I'm not criticising the (quite frankly brilliant) PX team instead, the idea of having to invest £50+ on a game that you might not like. Sure, you can see gameplay online but it's not the same until you play it yourself.

I know you can sometimes get a refund if you've played so little of a game but there's 3 issues with that: Not many people know about that, it's a hassle, and you can't play enough to know if the games for you in that short window.

Surely, these AAA games should all be coming with free 30 minute - 1 hour demos, right?

Re: New Report Details Six Upcoming Racing Games In Development At EA

Daniel1221

Worried about the F1 series to be honest. 20 had a good selection of classic cars and track alternatives but 21 ditched those in favour of the story mode - which really doesn't appeal to me - and now they're adding F1 life, which sounds so awful. If I want to drive a supercar, I'd play Forza, or PC, Assetto Corsa and so on... I want to see classic cars and tracks return (like 2013), and it would be cool to see F3 and the W Series also included that way, you could have a longer lasting career that doesn't just start from F2

Re: Fall Guys Expected To Share Xbox Update On May 16th

Daniel1221

I'm expecting a Game Pass announcement and why shouldn't we? Since it's currently not a free game, you need to have Gold to play it online, right? I would assume that the majority of people that have gold have it as a part of their GPU sub so why not make it free to play especially since the hype has dwindled in the wait time.
