What we need to realize is shows like The Game Awards are redundant for game reveals for first party platform holders.
In a world where they can host their own showcase through digital mediums, why rush and waste resources?

I'd fully expect an Xbox showcase Feb/March with release dates for Redfall, Starfield, AoE 4 etc.

The reality is that Sony don't want COD on Game Pass day one.
They won't accept a 10 year deal, or anything else.
For their shareholders, they will fight to the death to show they tried everything they could to block the deal from happening.

They don't care about gamers or allowing COD to be more widely accessible, they only care for their bottom dollar.

By the time the deal closes in summer 2023, 2023 COD is off the table. Too late for a port of that.
By the time we start talking about 2024 COD, we will probably have a Switch successor, which will make development work much more feasible.

Sony looking to be backed into a corner here now.
Wonder what their next move will be now...

With GPU currently at £10.99 a month, which includes these titles day one, I have no real issue.
The issue is if they start to up the price of GPU, which is inevitable at this point.
Netflix Premium is £15.99 here in the UK. I'd say that has to be the limit for GPU as a comparison.

I think Series X at £420 was insane value over Black Friday when you factor in Game Pass, especially when you consider PS5 is £480, and mostly only available with bundles over £500+.

And they lag behind because they don't offer day one first party games.
You can't argue about the competition when you aren't actually offering a comparable service in that regard.

But the reality is that these games will reach MORE people if the deal goes through.
Game Pass is available on console, PC and Cloud.
Xbox has also spoken about wanting COD on Nintendo Switch.

What PlayStation is worried about is not Xbox taking COD away from their console, but having it on Game Pass and probably including perks.
PlayStation knows the COD crowd are a pickle bunch.
Just as they migrated from Xbox 360 to PS4, the same could/will happen if COD hits Game Pass day and date.

Will be glad when these deal goes through in the next 6 months and we can finally have an end to this pathetic behaviour.

How many games have we seen now launch with no 60FPS mode on Series S, only to get one patched in at a later date?
Hopefully once we leave last gen ports behind, devs have more time and resources to treat Series S more seriously.

I don't know why they don't give us the option to limit to cross-play only for consoles.
Leave the PC cheaters to enjoy between themselves.

The reality is not that the Series S is holding back developers, it's the issue that it causes extra work and optimization vs if they just had Series X and PS5 to work with.
Not a coincidence that we see 60FPS modes added to Series S versions well after launch...

MS has obviously had to pay to get these ports on Xbox and Game Pass, hence the native next-gen versions.
Exactly the same situation as Ni No Kuni, that got a native Series X/S version, at 4K 60FPS while the PS5 is stuck with the PS4 Pro version at 1440p 60FPS.

So Sony doesn't want Xbox to have exclusive content or perks?
Ie what they have now on PS4/5?
And they are worried the game would take advantage of the better hardware compared to PS5?

Sony need to get rid of Jim Ryan. The damage he has done to the brand is laughable.

Looks to be of a similar size to the Nvidia Shield Pro, although a litter fatter.
If they get the streaming apps available as they are on the Xbox consoles, could be a nice option if priced realistically.
Would do well here in the UK if priced at £50 w/o controller and £100 with.

Looks cool, but I'd at least expect textured grips on the rear for that price range.
Even the Forza Horizon 5 LE controller had them.

I'd love to get one, but the shipping for the UK is another £102, so they can jog on.

The technology was there, but the business model was flawed from the start.

Minimum PC requirements for Scorn are;

• AMD Ryzen 3 3300X
• 8 GB RAM
• NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (3 GB)

Based on that, I'd assume they mean they found it difficult to try and maintain Series X parity as close as possible rather than get it running! LOL

I own this on PS5, but haven't got round to playing it yet.
Will wait for a Digital Foundry review to see if they've used FSR 2.0 on Xbox or not to increase performance before playing.

With Sony locking off the Final Fantasy series, some sort of exclusive JRPG like Blue Dragon or Lost Odyssey would be more than welcome.

And this is why Sony are panicking.
We all know what the obvious choice is and how this will push even more people to Game Pass and the Xbox ecosystem.

Sony just need to man up and start being competitive with their subscription service instead of getting left behind wasting money on timed exclusive games.

True, but remember, they'd need PS+ to play online on PS5, so that's £50 for the year at the cheapest option, bringing the total to £120.

With Xbox and GPU, they'd also get EA Play included, so a discount on buying FIFA, 10 hours early access trial, etc all included.

Bit of a no brainer if you are COD, FIFA, Fortnite type gamer.

The deal will go through.
I think what regulators are worried about is taking the #1 selling game each year on PS4/5, and including it day one on Game Pass, creating an even greater void between Game Pass and PS+ Extra/Premium.
Safe to say Sony are years behind MS in the subscription and Cloud scene.

I think the main issue here is COD day one on Game Pass might as well be as good as exclusive as who's going to pay £70 on PS5 when you can get the game for £10.99 a month along with access to many other day one games and no doubt other COD related perks?

Unless Sony start making their games day one on PS+ Extra, they simply won't be able to compete in the subscription space, never mind the Cloud gaming aspect.

I'm all digital, so there's no point in pre-ordering when I can wait for reviews and download instantly when I've made an informed decision.

Will be interesting to see how this works.
It's dead on arrival if they charge £12.99 when GPU is only £10.99.

As a developer, you'd take this extra money right now, as Sony are the market leader and you are still selling the game on Xbox and PC.
Obviously, if the tides continue to turn, suddenly these developers think twice about making such a deal with Sony.

This is for if you have multiple consoles and users in your house.
So say you're a parent, you have your own console, and you have 2 kids that have a console each, then this is where the Family Plan comes in, as the method you are using only works for 2 consoles.

What they mean is there is nothing unique in the sense rivals would be unable to compete.
Even though COD is always the #1 seller, there are plenty of other rival FPS games in Apex, Battlefield, Destiny, etc.

Of course Sony is worried.
They've had the marketing and exclusive content for COD since the PS4 era and it's by far the #1 selling game on their console.

The comical element is they are worried it will sway console purchases, yet they do everything they can to pay for timed exclusives for that very reason.
Sometimes a taste of your own medicine can do wonders...

They need to scrap Games with Gold or drastically improve it.

PS+ is getting Yakuza: Like A Dragon, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 and Little Nightmares.
Compare those to these and it's an absolute embarrassment.

Satya Nadella stated on the Microsoft Earnings Call that Xbox has been the market leader in sales for "Next-Gen Platforms" for 3 Quarters in a Row in North America.
Bare in mind they've had zero first party titles since Halo Infinite vs PS5 with Horizon: FW and GT7.
I hardly think they'll be worrying about getting "destroyed" due to GoW: Ragnarok.

The chance of it happening are pretty slim.
As we saw with the leaked marketing documents with RE: Village, Sony inserts a clause that prevents the game entering any sort of subscription based service during the time length of the marketing deal.
So we'll probably get all previous CODs up to Vanguard on Game Pass, but we won't get the next 2 day one as MS will look to honour any previous deals.

It wouldn't be Game Pass day one sadly.
PlayStation still have a deal for 2 more COD games in terms of marketing and exclusive content.

Definitely great value if you've got the time to sink into them.
Recently bought The Quarry and Dying Light 2 on sale, all using Reward Points.

If they can close this deal and start adding stuff to Game Pass before the end of the year, then that will be a huge selling point going into the Christmas period.

Xbox Series X/S is actually 2nd only behind Switch for console sales in the UK for 2022.
PS5 is in last place, although mostly due to stock issues.

My wife loves this game.
Just loads it up, chills out, and does a party chat with her sister while playing.
Every game has an audience.

I meant more from a Sony first party point of view rather than a Cyberpunk level.
Sony are normally extremely good like Nintendo in terms of day one bugs and performance.
If you played Horizon: FW on launch, it had loads of bugs and they've only recently sorted the 60FPS mode, which was an eye-soar with all the visual shimmering.

Sadly leaks are part of the business.
It's how they manage them that calms the tides of rapid fanboys.
Really sounds to me like Sony want GoW: Ragnarok out during 2022, but they clearly aren't fully confident to put a flag down on a release date just yet.
I don't blame they either after the buggy mess Horizon: FW ending up being at release.

I think the difference this console generation from a Japan perspective is that the games that appeal to them are now starting to actually be released on Xbox Series X/S, unlike with Xbox One.
Then you obviously have Game Pass being another enticing factor, plus the more budget friendly Series S model.

£65 in the UK for this type of game is WAY too steep for me.
I'll wait until it hits a reasonable price point of around £45-50 for Series X/S.

Already played it on PS4/5, but Square-Enix love money.
So if the Sony deal has expired and MS come waving some Game Pass money under their nose, you can bet they will bite.

You could say the same about any form of subscription service for media, be it music, movies or TV.
The reality is this is how the customer wants to enjoy their entertainment, and video games are just late to the party.

If anything, the current model of ballooning $200-300m AAA video game budgets is unsustainable in the long term as costs continue to increase, so a subscription model at least guarantees a steady revenue pool for the platform holder rather than hoping 2 or 3 exclusives a year sell 5m+ units each.

I hope it's actually worth while considering the delay...

They've probably both been given 6 months extra time.
So Redfall in Feb and Starfield in April/May.

He has some valid points, but the guy goes with these headlines because that's what gets him views and money.
He's just a Twitch/Youtuber these days and well out of touch with game development.
