@VisitingComet1 I finished watching season 1. I loved it. I just wished that Bokeem Woodbine (Soren-066) used his tongue and lips when talking. I didn't care much about Kwan, though. Episode 7 was all about her story. I don't know if I did something wrong, but I didn't get subtitles for the long conversation in Korean with her father (watching on Sky Showtime), although I can guess what they were talking about. I loved John... and Halsey, because it's a fascinating character and the actress (Natascha McElhone) is absolutely amazing. I like how the overarching context is humanity's inopportuneness and stupidity, especially noticeable in episode 8. Now, season 2!
Have you watched it, @Utena-mobile? I like John, Cortana is all right and Kai-125 might be the greatest female badass since Chun-Li and Lara Croft. 😁
Severance is back and didn’t disappoint. I adore the editing and attention to detail in this show. The first episode brought some answers and introduced even more intrigue.
The small stop motion animation was gorgeous and was that Keane Reeves I heard?
Top tier television 👍
Massive, massive quantities and a glass of water, sweetheart. My socks are on fire!
I decided to watch the wheel of time with no book expectations. it was really hard if the books didn't exists it would be a fine show but just to many liberties for me.
@Banjo- OMG! Roflol, I've tried not to talk about Halo tv because there is so much I could go on. There are a few nitpicky parts about it, like I wish Cortana was handled a little differently, and I totally agree with you, I'm not quite sure what Kwan is supposed to do in the story and I didn't like her.
But I really loved a lot of it. I loved that the UNSC is more accurately shown to be as beuracratic and corrupt, I loved how bulky and awkward Spartan suits are, but at the same time able to show how much power they have. I really liked how morally questionable and kind of b***chy Dr Halsey is. Oh and I really really liked Charlie Murphy and Makee is one of my favorite characters now and I feel like she makes total sense in the Halo universe because of course the Prophets would be hypocrites and teach genocidal racism while at the same time keep one as a "pet" to help them manipulate forerunner tech. And wow, Kai is amazing. I still every now and then watch youtube videos of her running towards the ship.
I didn't really like that thing that happens at the end though with Chief and Cortana does that thing. You know, the "thing" she does. Sorry, I don't want to spoil anything. lol. But yeah, I liked it a lot and I'll defend Makee forever. But yeah, that show got waaaaay more hate than it deserves. IMO though, I think the best things about it were the showrunners and writers, and the worst parts of it were probably 343i consultants. No proof, but that's what I feel. lol.
I'm so happy you liked it. Are you going to watch season 2 also?
@Utena-mobile I liked reading your comment a lot. At the end of season 1, it's not clear what happens to Cortana. She obviously takes control of John but, although she had previously said that he would cease to exist, at the last minute she says that she may not be able to bring him back. In the beginning of season 2, John is not connected to Cortana and there is a different Cortana, so I need to watch more to see what's going on. The Covenant make clear at the end of season 1 that they were just using Makee, who seems evil at first but isn't; when she is about to... yet she eventually removes her... Episode 8 is amazing because it has many believable crucial changes reflecting how humans react, like when Makee meets the ONI members. The writers are probably the best of the show, but I enjoy the image that looks incredible on OLED and, well, like I said, I'm fascinated by Halsey, not just the character, but how McElhone portrays every millimetre of the character, making it credible, not overacting a single bit and making sense while being so complex. You're right, the Spartan suits are amazing. I had my doubts about that part before watching the episodes, but they look great and seem real in action while making possible the most impressive stunts. They want to make a season 3 without Paramount that ended it and I hope it's as good. Halo's universe has more possibilities than I ever thought.
@VisitingComet1 I watched seasons 1 and 2. I have not read the books, but I didn't like the shoehorned variety and I think the writing wasn't very good. It has some very cool things, mostly the battles. I think season 2 was better, but it isn't one of my favourite TV shows.
@Banjo- ya the books are so good the first is probably the roughest to read, but after that they really take off and get super interesting. I like history though and the world building stuff that includes history.
@Banjo- I think that its probably pretty hard to make everyone happy with shows from famous ip's the one thing that I dont get about them though is your making whatever place name here thats pretty famous. If your not going to stay in the realm of created lore why even do it? Make your own thing and let your vision sink or swim but don't coopt some one else's world and try to force your ideas down the loyal fans of the ip's throat.
For some reason I have been in a Tim Allen mood so I have been watching Last Man Standing on Hulu. I missed it when it originally aired, due to watching other shows and just other things going on in my life, but I am enjoying it thus far. It has classic Tim Allen comedy bits and I do like his chemistry with the rest of the cast. The only gripe I have and this goes for all shows that do this is the change of actress for his older daughter. But if you like Tim Allen, it's definitely worth a watch.

So, I started watching quantum leap the old one again. I think its one of my 5 top shows all time. Also just ran through Justified one more time and man if you haven't seen it check it out.
@VisitingComet1 Whats werid about it is that there's no explanation anywhere for it. I can understand contract dispute or problems on the set but nothing is said.

@Banjo- I'm so happy you liked it! Tbh, I've always felt like Halo has far more context than actual content, especially when I played through the MCC for the first time and found out a lot of the story is implied. So being able to see so much more of the world in the tv show (and the anime, which is also good and worth checking out) is great even if people argue how canon everything is.
I agree with you 100% that they got Halsey right. Like, you can almost (almost) sympathize with her motivations, but then the show rightfully reminds us that her work is very unethical, both the Cortana project, and the Spartan project. Btw, ewwww gross, her assistant, what a creep! lol. Also The Covenant look good, especially the hunters, I hope the games show the hunters in their worm form more often because it's nightmare fuel.
Oh, btw, just so that I don't derail the forum completely, I have a coworker who loves the Wheel of Time series but don't mention the show because she'll spend half an hour telling you how it ruined the books and changed a bunch of things for the worse. I guess it got... Kwan-ified? lol. I hope the actor who played Kwan doesn't read this because she's a beautiful and wonderful person. She deserved much better than they gave her (and I blame 343i, she really seems like a 343i character).
@Utena-mobile Some films aren't as great as the books like Visitingcomet1 wrote. Even Jurassic Park, that I loved as a kid, still do, one of the best films ever in my opinion, can't overshadow Michael Crichton's books, that I read years later. You'd think that you need CGI for a story with dinosaurs, yet the books are absolutely amazing.
Back to Halo, I finished watching the second season, that ended in more cliff hangers than the first, and I can say that I loved both seasons. John, Halsey, Cortana -I like the new actress, she looks more serious-, Kai, I would add the rest of the Silver Team, are a success. There are many memorable characters and the last episode is tremendous. What about Parangosky's deserved death? LOL
Like you say, the lore of Halo is vaguely explored in the video games and seeing this developed in an expensive TV production with Spartans, the Covenant and the Flood is a dream. My only complaints are related to the side stories that looked standard TV series material used as filler, as much as they wanted to give some characters like Kwan big roles. I guess they need a bigger host for the third season that they are planning already. I look forward to watching more in the future!
Halsey's assistant is Adun. He was going to kiss the clone they made for creating Cortana, was it because it resembled... Halsey?
@Banjo- I loved the end of halo season 2 I thought the whole season was just awesome.
Reading the Jurassic Park book was really good. I agree with you that the movie which I have watched a bazillion times was awesome and still holds up today, but it doesn't do the book justice.
Another book that was made into a really good movie is the Hunt for Red October. the movie is great the book might be in my top ten ever written and I read a lot.
I am on the last season of Last Man Standing. Overall a really good show that I am sorry I missed during it's run. With that said though I will say that I enjoyed the ABC version better then the Fox one.
The main gripe I had was all the changes they did with the cast. Granted the big one was switching the actresses that played Mike's oldest daughter but when it went to Fox it seems like they just did an overall. Granted I know that the original Mandy thought the show was over after ABC canceled it and took on other projects but they could have just written the character off saying she was doing fashion in New York or something. Then they also changed Mike's grandson and a few of the neighbors. But just way to many cast overhaul.
Then of course the addition of Jen for the Fox run. While she wasn't bad it just felt that they forced her in. Granted they wanted that chemistry of another daughter since Eve was dropped to a guest star in the Fox run but still Jen just felt out of place.
Overall like I said a pretty good show and enjoyable just a few things here for me. I still feel Home Improvement was a better show over all but Last Man Standing is good too.

Really enjoying watching ER again probably the first show I watched as an adult on a weekly basis.
Another show I'm looking to get back into is the expanse.
Recently I have been watching a couple of Fantasy anime. It took me a week to watch all twenty four episodes of the first season of Delicious in Dungeon. So I am now waiting for season two of it. I also have been watching Frieren Beyond Journey's End.
