@NEStalgia Pillars of Eternity II comes to mind as an Obsidian game that just... Barely ran. It bombed so hard financially that Obsidian basically never even bothered to fix it. It's years later and it still runs awful. Great game, otherwise.

Rome wasn't built in a day, but it surely burnt down in less than a week. Yeah, that seems about right.

My Game Pass Ultimate just conveniently expired on the 7th and I didn't bother to renew it. I just don't play as many games as I used to. There's no way on Earth I'm paying MS $12 a month for PC Game Pass and $15 a month WoW subscription. WoW is going to win that fight every single time.

I liked the first one well enough, but I'm honestly not too interested in the second one. I'm sure it'll be great, though.

@NEStalgia I did years ago. I knowingly bought a 3080ti while prices were outrageous due to crypto mining BS, and that card isn't really necessary, but it's also still an insanely good card even with the RTX 4000 cards in the wild. But prices are pretty much normal now. You can get solid AMD cards for pretty cheap, and stuff like the 4070 is reasonable enough these days.

@NEStalgia Eh, I mean, I get it. My PC rarely gives me grief. It costs more, but I personally just find it to be an infinitely better experience than a console. That isn't to say it's just for everyone, but it's 100% for me. I actually just ordered a Ryzen 7 5800x yesterday that was on sale for $175.00. That's the first component I've put in this PC in probably two years at this point. But it's basically completely spec'd out as far as what this mobo will take, so there really isn't much more money that could be sank into this one. But that 5800x will absolutely clobber the 3700x I've got in it right now.

@mousieone I've sold two PS5's now. I've finally determined that I just don't want one. I sold my original one a week after launch, and another about six months ago. The curiosity is finally just dead and buried. I actually sold my last PS5 and put it toward a nice ASUS laptop, for portable PC gaming. Lol

@NEStalgia I'm glad the decision was easy for me and I'm still just happily gaming on PC and Switch and never looking back. I sold my PS5... Again. Lol

I'm about 18 hours in and I'd be lying if I said I didn't think this was Bethesda's best game. I'm a solid 9.5/10 on this one so far. As someone that has tolerated far more annoying stuff from Bethesda over the years, it's hard for me to really cut this down too many notches, because the annoying aspects were basically within what my expectations already were.

The entire discourse around Starfield has been as unhealthy as a seven-course dinner at Pizza Hut. This might be what rock bottom looks like. It's been real, y'all.

I kinda feel like Starfield could have benefited more for robot exoskeletons, more so than actual vehicles. The foundation was already there from FO4 with Power Armor, but I think something like that could have been fun and practical for this game.

@Ralizah I said something similar to this yesterday. We live in this world now where brands do whatever they can to fit into some sort of identifiable lifestyle. Which really just results in people getting way too into whatever it is they're doing. It's like the, "Oh, did you know I'm vegan"? But with everything. I remember when video games were just something fun that we did when we didn't have anything else to do. Those were the days.

@Ralizah As someone that is a pretty hardcore BGS fan, I really just don't understand what people's expectations were going in here. It's the biggest BGS game to date. It has the best combat of any BGS game to date. It is the most polished BGS game to date. Bethesda has never released anything resembling a perfect game, or even close to perfect... Or even close to dare I say stable. Regardless of whether this is perfect or not, so many things here are massively improved on from their prior works. As a huge fan of the studio and the Lord God Howard, I'm just giddy with it.

I'm playing at a pretty satisfying 40fps on PC with 1440p and ultra settings, however this game is working my CPU in a way I don't think I've ever seen before. A consistent 60fps isn't happening on any settings for me. That being said, I can hold a consistent 40fps even in places like New Atlantis and Neon. I've got a Ryzen 7 3700x in my PC, which is pretty equivalent to what's in a Series X. I def think ole Toddy could squeeze a 40fps mode into the console version for people with 120hz displays, but he probably won't.

I think it was David Jaffe that said he had to build a secret base on a random moon somewhere to store all of his stolen body parts, so the customs officers didn't detect them. So, if anyone needs to buy some body parts, Jaffe is your man. I love this game.

@Xboxer999 Have you tried to holster your weapon? In prior Bethesda games if you would put your weapon away, they would usually stop attacking and go for the arrest instead.

@Xboxer999 If the guards are after you and you don't have the option to pay a fine or go to jail, then something has gone wrong, I think.

@Fenbops I'm a PS5 fan boy. What I really mean is, I bought a PS5 and boy, I'm glad I stuck it behind the TV where you can't see it.

@Fenbops Not many PS studios games break 90. That's basically reserved for God of War and TLOU (Not the remake) these days. Pretty much everything else is in the 80's. Which is fine. A score in the high 80's is really high. Which is why I find Snake's comment exceptionally absurd. Lol

@GamingFan4Lyf Yup. You are preordering an expansion, getting some other DLC items, and then five days of early access. I'd happily fork out the $30 for any release I'm this stoked for. I'm time poor, not money poor. Monday is a holiday, and I can spend a lot of that Monday with Starfield. In this situation, Todd gets my money.

I think the scariest part about this game is probably the dynamic 1080p for 60fps.

@JaffeGaffe I'd play it at 30fps on console if I had to. However, I'll be playing on PC with a 3080ti. So, 30fps is not in my future.

It's more like, I think PS needs to make a controller with proper stick placement, and Xbox needs to worry about gyros a lot more than haptic feedback.

@Rmg0731 @BeerIsAwesome Iron Galaxy only assisted Naughty Dog on that rubbish port. They aren't even credited on the Steam page, like they are with the Uncharted PC ports. The blame doesn't fall squarely at the feet of Iron Galaxy. On the flip side, Iron Galaxy also assisted Retro and Nintendo on the utterly stupendous Metroid Prime Remastered. So... Yeeeeeah. For what it's also worth, Iron Galaxy handled seasons two and three of Killer Instinct after Double Helix dipped out. So, this isn't new territory for them.

Quake 2 RTX on PC is already pretty awesome, so hopefully this is a bump up from that. Nightdive did great on Quake 1.

I'm not really sure. I haven't looked up from my Switch in eleven months.

@InterceptorAlpha I played such an unholy amount of all three of those games. That had to be the golden era for Gundam games, for me. I think I had eventually conquered Zeonic Front on the hardest difficulty, and I felt like that game was difficult even on just normal. Those were the good ole days.

I seriously love that the CMA is trying to save face here. They played a stupid game, and won a stupid prize.
