Re: Talking Point: Should Xbox Make A Revised Controller With Haptic Feedback?

Sakai

I like the rumble on the dualsence (and joycons), but the triggers are horrible for playing difficult games (as I do alot) they get in the way and make it harder to play. The worst sin a controller can commit

Not only that, but on my first dualsence the LT broke and went floppy, and just the other week when finishing the platinum for Ragnarok, on the replacement controller the LT and RT are floppy and broken. They are not well made at all, build quality is shocking

Luckily last week the dualsence and ps5 were on sale, so I got a bit of a deal on a starlight blue replacement. Cant see it lasting more than a year at most.

Re: Baldur's Gate 3 Xbox Version Seemingly Pushed To 2024 Due To Series S 'Technical Hurdle'

This just popped up on my Google news feed and thought it was appropriate:

Baldurs gate 3 dev does not believe Series S holds back gaming

Link: https://tech4gamers.com/baldurs-gate-3-xbox-series-s-hold-back/?fbclid=IwAR0zunxApa4ofoSiDrcsODkTc9jO5d3-kNuHvbQymL6qVA5kS_k-Z7AYKu0

"I think it’s an okay proposition to say we have two devices, we want compatibility across the devices.”

“To answer your question, it just defines parameters within which you have to develop and there are ways of doing that.

“They just take development efforts."

They liken the Series S to developing on PC is the short version.

"The PC platform has always offered a similar dilemma due to new graphics cards every two years, and the Xbox Series S is no different. According to Swen Vincke, Larian Studios does not have enough resources to work on all versions simultaneously."

The studio is just too small, it's more a dev issue than a hardware limitation

@Kevw2006 The issue with Football Manager was that Sony did not send them any dev kits, so they could not make a Playstation version.

"because to make games for a platform, you need a dev kit. To get a dev kit, the platform holder have to want the game on the platform. We spoke with Sony, we have no dev kits. We spoke with Microsoft, they sent them to us."

Re: Phil Spencer Says Xbox Is 'Focused' On Improving Handheld PC Gaming Experience

Sakai

As an owner of the xbox series x, steam deck and a rog ally this is great news. One of my favourite things about xbox is how you can acess gamepass etc in various methods.

If my wife wants the 65inch OLED, i can jump on a handheld and continue gaming. If my kids are using a handheld I can use my phone as a last ditch effort to get some gaming time in.

Being a parent is so over rated! Lol

Re: It's Finally Here! The New Xbox Dashboard Has Arrived

Sakai

Think it looks ok. Not like i spend much time on any of the consoles UIs. All 3 are fine. Usually im spending most of my time actually playing games. The dashboard is really not that important. Talk about an over reaction by some of you lol its been pretty funny to read to be honest

Re: Xbox Gaming Revenue Up 1% YoY In Latest Earnings Report

Sakai

I had mentioned the supply issues with series x previously, but a few people didn't believe me for some reason, even though the evidence was obvious the whole time.

It was not surprising at all that they mentioned the issue themselves at their E3 presentation.

They need to do better

Re: Xbox Activision Blizzard Deal Officially Approved In Turkey Amidst Ongoing FTC Battle

Sakai

@Banjo- the court of appeal motion was submitted 2 hours after judge Corley denied the appeal, 7pm PT yesterday.

The FTC wants the Ninth Circuit Court to grant emergency relief to extend the temporary restraining order until when the appeals court can rule on the preliminary injunction decision. If granted, this will block the deal from closing.

If the Ninth Circuit Court doesn’t grant an extension before 11:59PM PT today then Microsoft is free to close the deal over the weekend or early next week.

This is still an ongoing thing

Re: Xbox Activision Blizzard Deal Officially Approved In Turkey Amidst Ongoing FTC Battle

Sakai

@Banjo- the presiding judge almost always denies the appeal motion, they always back their own decision (obviously, or they would not have made it)

Now Judge Corley has denied the appeal, it will now go to the Court of Appeal and a 3 judge panel will decide

Usually this takes alot longer than 1 day, that's the big unknown in this current situation. Will they reject the appeal, will they grant a short extension to the TRO to allow the appeal court to properly look at it, or will they side with the FTC and kill the merger.

The FTCs gameplan in my opinion seems to revolve around confusion, hence the many points in their appeal motion. Usually in appeals they stick to one or two big points, and hammer them home so there is no doubt or confusion. The FTC have took a scattergun approach in the hope of confusing the appeal judges, and therefore them granting the appeal to allow for more time on thr subject. It's a risky play.

Taking an educated guess I would say there is a 65% chance the appeal is denied, and a 35% chance the appeal is granted. A little over 50/50. We should have a clearer view of the deal by the end of the day West Coast time

Re: UK CMA Delays Decision On Xbox ActiBlizz Deal Until August

Sakai

I predict the appeal in thr USA has a 65% chance of being denied and 35% chance thr appeal is granted. Just a little under 50/50.

The FTCs main weapon will be confusion, hence the many points of appeal. Usually you stick to one or two rock solid issues and drill them home so there is no doubt at all you are correct. Not the scattergun approach the FTC have took.

Confusion can win as a tactic for appeal, as the judges only have a few hours to decide.

Today should be interesting.

The CMA I honestly have no idea what it means. Maybe they have a gentleman's agreement to close. If not, I can't see the deal closing this weekend or Monday.

A short 6 week extension to the merger agreement seems more likely, if the CMA have signalled they are likely to approve the new concessions. But who knows at this point lol

Re: FTC Appeals Court's Ruling Permitting Microsoft's Acquisition Of Activision Blizzard

Sakai

They had to appeal first to the judge who presided over the case, Judge Corley. That is the only way. They can't appeal to anyone else.

Judges usually say no to the motion (obviously, judges always stand by their decision) which then sends it to the appeal panel of judges. Which will consist of 3 judges. Corley has already denied the appeal.

They will determine the fate of the deal Friday.

It's hard to put a number of it, but I would guess 65% appeal denied, 35% granted.

An appeal is never black and white, and the risk is never zero.

The main area the FTC may prevail in is confusion, hence so many lines of appeal. Usually the FTC would narrow down an appeal to one of two major points, to increase the chance of success. That's why I think they are trying to confuse the appeal court, in hope of them granting aTRO or PI, so the appeals court can take a closer/longer look.

I would guess the appeals court will see thru that tactic. But it's not guaranteed. Nothing is when law and courts are involved.

Later today should be interrsting

Re: Xbox Wins FTC Court Case As Judge Denies Preliminary Injunction

Sakai

Looks like the CMA are backing down already and have asked for a stay of litigation to try and settle this without the CAT.

"In a further development today, Microsoft president Brad Smith has said the FTC's decision has prompted it and the CMA to agree that a "stay of litigation" is now "in the public interest" - sparking further hope for Microsoft of a breakthrough on these shores.

"After today's court decision in the US, our focus now turns back to the UK," Smith said today in a statement shared to Eurogamer. "While we ultimately disagree with the CMA's concerns, we are considering how the transaction might be modified in order to address those concerns in a way that is acceptable to the CMA.

In order to prioritise work on these proposals, Microsoft and Activision have agreed with the CMA that a stay of the litigation in the UK would be in the public interest and the parties have made a joint submission to the Competition Appeal Tribunal to this effect."

CMA are going to agree to remedies and it will be a big win for the UK regulator. This is what the FTC should have done the whole time but unfortunately ideology got in the way

Re: Xbox Wins FTC Court Case As Judge Denies Preliminary Injunction

Sakai

It would not suprise me if after this, the FTC dropped their trial in August, as no matter what, they need a federal judge to side with them.

The FTC does not have the power to block or divest, a federal court does.

It's a really bad day for the FTC, especially as they failed on every one of their points. It's also a really bad day for the CMA, who now have no support from any regulator or judge around the world

Re: Xbox Could Expect FTC Injunction Verdict As Soon As Next Week

Sakai

Whatever the decision of the judge, I will back her. Throughout the whole process she seemed a very intelligent lady, and seemed switched on and asking alot of the right questions. She seemed to have a fairly decent understanding of the industry, more so than alot of the lawyers.

Iv made a point of keeping off PX and PS this last week as its been toxic from all sides. Il be taking another break until the decision, just wanted to give my thoughts on the Judge.

Approve or deny the motion, il back her decision 100%. Now we wait.

Re: Xbox Exec: We're Still Hesitant To Develop VR Games Until There's A Bigger Audience

Sakai

On a personal level, psvr1 is still the worst purchase I ever made due to the sickness. I was super hyped for VR, until i actualy purchased a headset.

I tried to get over it like the internet keeps telling people, but nothing helped. Getting your VR legs just didn't seem to happen for me. And what's really wierd is I don't actually get motion sickness or anything from anything else except VR.

Until VR/AR is technology like a holodeck or Ready Player One, its just not going to work for most people. It feels more like "monitor strapped to your face" than an "immersive vr technology"

Re: Starfield's Xbox File Size Is 125GB, According To Microsoft Store Page

Sakai

@TakeItEasy because Starfield is a simulation and system heavy game with the size and scope of an entire galaxy. The game will be cpu limited not gpu limited. This means dropping resolution wouldn't help to get to 60fps. This is what alot of us have been saying for a while now. Starfield was never going to be 60fps on a £450 console
