The latest Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S upgrade has arrived in the form of last year's Crysis Remastered, which hasn't been optimised for next-gen, but nevertheless has been improved for the new systems.
Crysis Remastered on both consoles features three different options in the form of 'RayTracing', Quality mode and Performance mode, which run at the following resolutions and frame rates (further details have yet to be provided):
XBOX SERIES X
- Performance mode - 1080p - 60 fps
- Quality mode – 2160p - 60 fps
- RayTracing - 1440p - 60 fps
XBOX SERIES S
- Performance mode – 1080p - 60 fps
- Quality mode - 2160p - 30 fps
- RayTracing - 1080p - 30 fps
In addition to the next-gen improvements, the 'Ascension' level has also been added to the console versions of the game, along with a Classic Nanosuit menu, and various performance improvements and bug fixes.

Kind of impressed seeing an open world game, running at 1440p, with raytracing and 60fps.
Even if it is old, Crysis is something that still holds up today. And if an engine as poorly optimized as CryEngine can give us 1440/60fps/raytracing then we're looking at a nice future from non-lazy developers.
Uh... Why would you play Performance mode on Series X when quality mode is also 60fps?
@TownYsend
My only guess is less chance of frame rate drop.. but was thinking the same thing
I plan to try ray tracing mode myself
@TownYsend My guess, the 2160p targets 60fps, but doesn't lock. Performance Mode is probably a solid 60fps lock (and should when running 1080p on the Series X)
Sounds like Ray tracing mode is the best option if it holds that 60fps consistently (even if not a lock).
EDIT: Guess we can all find out now since Digital Foundry just posted an analysis of this patch.
Lovely, now it’s finally time to play this game! Bought it a couple of months ago knowing the nextgen patch was in the works.
I believe it's on sale right now, Might have to take the plunge on this.
Quality Mode - 2160p-1440p. Frame rate not stable. Mostly 50-60FPS. Can drop down to 40FPS in bad cases.
Performance Mode - 1080p. More stable FPS. Can drop to 55FPS.
Ray Tracing Mode - 1440p-1080p. Worst mode for FPS. Constantly unstable.
Performance is terrible based on recent DF video. Especially on Series S where it can't even reach 60fps and just maxed out at 54-55fps and drop hard to 40s in those areas where you have to destroy few tanks.
Ugh it doesn't even get to 60fps on Series S. Digital Foundry have a video up already.
How lame for such an old game.
Seems to look and run great even in ray tracing mode on my Series X. Haven’t experienced any big FPS drops.
