@uptownsoul “And it's still a fact that less console gamers will care about this peripheral than care about PSVR2.”

Who cares? It’s not targeted for those people even though they are a niche group on their own. Vast majority of gamers don’t even care about anything related to VR let alone PSVR2. 😂

@uptownsoul That Xbox issue was related to Quick Resume (which was early launch issue and was fixed) and not related to the fundamental upgrade process that will NOT change throughout console generation. Xbox upgrade process is not even noticeable (due to free cloud saves) whereas good luck searching for your pendrive. 😂

@uptownsoul “And nobody cares if the PS5 version takes an additional 45seconds & 6 button prompts”

FYI the PS5 version is not even upgrading, showing “Disc required” for an online game. 😂

Countless instances can be found like these which don’t make the upgrade process smooth and sometimes JUST DOESN’T WORK.

Re: Video: Here's Another Behind-The-Scenes Look At Bethesda's Starfield

Senua

According to Howard, in “Starfield” players will join an organization dubbed Constellation, the last group of space explorers. At the outset, players will choose their character’s background, with many options for customization that will impact how some things in the game unfold.
“[Pely] knows what all the buttons do on the ships. Even though it’s science fiction, your mind can sort of draw the line all the way back [to NASA]," Howard elaborated. "It all should feel lived in, even for a ship.” The environment in the ship isn’t fancy, as demonstrated by the curiously packaged Chunks, a kind of MRE, displayed in one of the trailer scenes. Howard said its contents were a “mix of processed space food,” probably primarily potato.
The massive amount of “things” that are included in the game are stored in an internal Wiki at Bethesda, a library of all things “Starfield” to which many of the employees who work on the project have access. These include histories, backstories, starship architecture, pretty much anything a fan (or an employee) would geek out about.
A detailed timeline was created that included the history of “what happens every decade” and it was decided that the game would take place “300-ish years in the future," Howard said. "And now man is living amongst the stars: what does that mean?”
To help in the journey, there are a variety of robots. While there is nothing like Star Wars’s C3PO, Howard said there is one named Vasco (a nod to explorer Vasco da Gama) who is admonished (via a crew member’s wall scrawl) in the trailer because the robot forgot to procure a beverage called Tranquilitea. That name is yet another nod to NASA: Tranquility Base was the moon site on which the Apollo 11 astronauts first landed and walked.

Howard promises Starfield is big - as in 100s-of-hours-of-gameplay big. Pen-and-paper RPGs, around the world explorers, and Elon Musk have all played in a role in shaping in 2022's most anticipated game.

But if we don’t see legitimate competition from them soon when it comes to studio acquisitions, streaming services, and subscription plans, then Xbox will have a cakewalk to become the Netflix of video games. Where Sony and Nintendo will specialize in the occasional breakout hit, Microsoft will be routinely expanding Game Pass with all sorts of games, from established franchises to games-as-service to quirky indies you can enjoy in a weekend.

To return to the streaming comparison, everybody has Netflix. There’s still room for the Hulus to the Criterion Channels, but they’re the second and third and fourth and fifth options. And soon enough, everybody may have Xbox, too — even if they don’t own an Xbox.

Just don’t wanna be very toxic about it but Forza Horizon 5 (a racing gaming) looks way more photorealistic and next-gen than any PS gameplay I’ve seen this year. As a Xbox fan, I’m really proud of Playground Games and I think it’s a hidden gem which can prove to be even more than what Insomniac is to PS. They had been through thick and thin delivering high quality exclusives for Xbox when there weren’t any. I want Phil to know now that you have well established “acquisitions” in your studio lineup, please invest heavily on team Playground Games as it’s have been through a “natural growth” which we are really proud of.

Also the show is 9/10 for me as we are getting two big, very big AAA first party exclusives this year let alone all the great big exclusives jam packed for next two years. This further makes a strong argument in making an investment on Xbox ecosystem from a consumer point of view. And I really really don’t get the hate towards racing genre. My first game that I played on my first PC was NFS MW which I’m not ashamed to admit. Playground games has really reinvented that genre as there’s no real competitor. Graphics of racing games are never supposed to look even better than the blockbuster action adventure AAA titles but here we are all thanks to Playground.

@Kamalen “the "groundbreaking" Ratchet & Clank can't handle both.”
This is because of the boost mode due to which the GPU can’t run at full clock when CPU is in use. In fact Digitalfoundry has confirmed today that it’s a CPU issue.
“Plus, it's is also still planned for Xbox One.”
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is cross gen too and so are technically impressive titles like Metro Exodus, Hitman 3 etc. Even Flight Simulator which is even way way more technically impressive and resource intensive, is also planned for Xbox One at some point. Crossgen is also not going anywhere for upcoming titles like Horizon Forbidden West, God Of War 2, GT7 etc.

What happens to my game saves?

You will be able to transfer your save file over from the Xbox One or PlayStation 4 versions of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order to Xbox Series X|S or PlayStation 5.

On Xbox Series X|S, the upgraded version of the game will be able to pull from your cloud storage or on-console storage automatically.

On Playstation 5, ensure your console has the PS4 save data on system storage (either from previous PS4 version playtime on the console, download from Cloud storage, or transfer via USB stick). From there, there will be a “Import PS4 System Save Data” prompt on the start-up screen. Simply select that option and you will be able to utilize your older save data.

That’s right, a $7.5 billion acquisition didn’t cause shareholders to particularly care enough to ask questions about it, because other areas of Microsoft are making so much money lol.”

Re: The New Forza Motorsport Will Be A 'Huge Generational Leap', Says Dev

Senua

The tires in Forza Motorsport, and the way they interact with the road, has been dramatically increased too. According to Esaki, the tire collision model from the first game to Forza Motorsport 7 had a single point of contact with the track surface and refreshed at 60 cycles per second (60Hz). In Forza Motorsport, there are now eight points of contact with the track surface, and the engine will refresh at 360 cycles per second (360Hz). That’s a 48x fidelity jump for a single tire collision. Esaki said that this results in the car’s handling better, and you can “feel” the track surface a lot more.

But that’s not all. When Esaki was asked how else the physics will improve the driving experience overall, Esaki said: “Another example of how the physics work that has resulted in subtle but noticeable changes in the road surface are curbs. Our curbs in the past have often been viewed as somewhat coarse or unsettling, and I think that’s been dramatically changed. They can be approached with confidence, and I think the playtest confirmed this. As simple as that may be, the curbing is night and day to where it’s been in the past.”

Multiple tire compounds have also been confirmed for Forza Motorsport, a first for the series. There has always been tire wear in previous games, but tire compounds such as hard, medium and soft will deepen the gameplay and racing strategy. Each compound has its own grip and wear characteristics, which Esaki said will lead to “exciting new gameplay decisions during a race.”

Environmental factors will also need to be taken into account in Forza Motorsport, and have the potential to make each lap feel different, according to Esaki.

“We’re working on things like track temperature and how it affects things like grip and tyre pressure, and tyre wear. In addition, you can imagine how changes in the time of day and weather, along with the new tyre wear modelling and all of the new compounds lead to a much deeper driving and racing experience.”
