Re: Forza Horizon 4 Perk Now Available With Xbox Game Pass Ultimate

Senua

@Ocat It’s DAY 1 along with Gears 5 upgrade and some other titles.

Higher resolution textures
Improved anisotropic filtering
Higher-resolution volume fog
Higher quality depth of field
Extremely far draw distances with high level of object detail
Shadow resolution and shadow distance
High-quality screen-space reflections
Post processing improvements like bloom, lens flare, light shafts, ect.
That said, The Coalition is also working on some new Xbox Series X features, including Screen Space Global Illumination, higher particle counts, and yes, the ability to play MP at up to 120fps.

Contact Shadows

This allows extremely realistic shadowing as each pixel on screen traces back to the light source to eliminate any shadow biasing artifacts or fill in missing shadows.

Screen Space Global Illumination

Integrated from UE4 4.24 this feature allows us to achieve full realtime GI at 4K/60fps.
SSGI's AO pass replaces the more traditional SSAO giving a much more naturalistic broad real-time AO.

Higher particle counts

Our particle counts are 50% higher than PC Ultra spec.

Real-Time Cinematics in 4K 60fps

Xbox One X cinematics were 4K 30fps

120fps Multiplayer support

Re: PSA: You Don't Need To Clog Your Xbox Series X Storage With Old Games

@Medic_Alert He’s obviously referring to the possible bottleneck due to AMD powershift which is evident in some crossgen titles like DMC5, Spiderman etc where some next-gen noticeable visual fidelity has to be comprised in CPU heavy scenarios. There’s absolutely no certainty that when CPU runs at 3.5ghz in low latency scenarios then the GPU will NOT drop to severely underpowered 1.2ghz mode. Xbox hardware team has tried this tech and decided to go for a locked predictable sustained performance without any boost peak mode for less uncertainty.

“Now, let’s say the average load time with those SSDs on next-gen will be 10 seconds,” posits Thomas Mahler (game director at Moon Studios). “And let’s be generous and say that the PS5 SSD and throughput is twice as fast as the [Xbox Series X] — At that point you’d have a 10s load times vs. 5s load times (keep in mind that loading often is more than just shuffling data around, so this isn’t in any way accurate). I don’t know if I’d care that much about 5 seconds saved every time I load if what I give up for is framerate or resolution. And I guess that’s the bet that Microsoft made here — more power rather than faster data transfer.”

So I guess we have to wait and see which one turns out to be a diminishing return.

Re: Microsoft Cools Concerns About Xbox Series X Heat Production

Senua

Really nothing to see here. Atleast Microsoft has sent this prototype units to hundreds and some usual suspects are twisting words from 1 or 2 individuals without quoting their full original statements and the biased media has jumped into the bandwagon with it. PC components generate heat too and runs at almost twice as high as 45C. It means Series X is operating properly and ventilating heat efficiently as it’s supposed to without any noise.

@StonyKL Really nothing to tell from this. Re: Forza Studio Turn 10 Might Be Providing Support On The New Fable

Looks like another Hollywood production quality level exclusive in the works by Playground.

Aaron Greenberg talked about this in RDX podcast today, it’s not only just new IPs that they gained but also a huge manpower of developers, artists, publishers, PR etc. who could easily cross collaborate with each other very efficiently without taking much financial risks. They said that they were already seeing this happening with their existing studios.

Each studios also have several teams working on multiple projects. To sum it up, Microsoft has a bandwidth of approx 35-36 teams right now mostly working on new games.

Re: Microsoft: We Know People Want To See More Xbox Series X Gameplay

Senua

There’s a reason why only Xbox has been transparent all along, they have disclosed a full naked hardware breakdown with Digitalfoundry way back in February. There’s a reason why Microsoft waited longer before locking down on specs, which’s why devs got their kits way later. Everything will be ultimately revealed crystal clear later this year when Digitalfoundry shows the Cyberpunk gameplay comparison finally.

@BAMozzy Like I said, this feature is absolutely leveraging machine learning. This has also been confirmed by Digitalfoundry earlier this year.

I guess they have also made a video explanation about this. Also you might wanna checkout the earlier Xbox Wire articles. And yes I had watched the HDTVTest video when it came out.

Re: Video: Here's How Auto HDR Enhances Games On Xbox Series X|S

Senua

@BAMozzy I might be wrong but that custom H/W acceleration block is designed only for things like FFT, video encoding, spatial audio processing etc. Unlike Nvidia Tensor cores, these next-gen consoles don’t have separate custom hardware for matmul ops and other similar things. Instead they have powerful CUs which can do low precision calculations in parallel and thus aiming for “economical upgrade to traditional rendering, not a complete replacement” in things like RT.

Re: Video: Here's How Auto HDR Enhances Games On Xbox Series X|S

Senua

@BAMozzy It doesn’t work that way. There’s no static algorithm available to generate heat maps dynamically or atleast it won’t work as good as a stochastic solution. You need to use a ML inference model using DirectML which will ofcourse benefit from extra GPU headroom. When this feature matures further and becomes generalised like DLSS 2.0 for ALL games, along with other things like AI super sampling, AI inference for character behaviour, DXR etc. these will be greatly benefitted from additional headroom.

@InterceptorAlpha “I do wanna see Xbox fail given that I have more play time on it than my Switch and PS4, possibly even PC, combined.” my brain hurts just reading that line, can’t endure so much of BS reasoning. Also please spare us from reading another line of your idiotic argument.
