Re: Fatal Frame: Mask Of The Lunar Eclipse Unveils Story Trailer As Xbox Pre-Orders Go Live

HarmanSmith

@Banjo- Man, I would have loved to play the Wii games back in the day! Sadly, I skipped the Wii (I played mostly with PS3 for that generation). In fact, before the announcements, I was tempted to buy a second hand Wii to play them.

@EvilSilentFrame You're right, Crimson Butterfly was released on Xbox, I forget that. I was a PS2 guy those days, so I played the first two there and the physical copy of Crimson Butterfly is one of my most precious gaming items . I played 3 on PS3, which was nice, because physical copies of that one were scarce and expensive!

Re: Fatal Frame: Mask Of The Lunar Eclipse Unveils Story Trailer As Xbox Pre-Orders Go Live

@EvilSilentFrame I surely hope Koei Tecmo (if the rumours you saw are true) will reconsider! As you say, I will take the game as they are (I am quite fond of Crimson Butterfly, btw - it brings back some of the finest gaming experiences in my life). IIRC, the first three (correct me if I am wrong) were (are?) available on the PS3 digital store, so maybe they can do something on that vein?

Re: Talking Point: Do You Think We'll See Hellblade 2 On Xbox In 2023?

HarmanSmith

@themightyant Yes! It is very cool, indeed. So @Banjo-, if you want to try it, this is the way to go.

About Hellbalde 2, I would love to see it in 2023...but I don't have any hope for this year. Probably, we will only get some release window, not an exact date.

Of course, a shadow drop would be lovely (but highly unlikely)!

Re: Feature: 50 Xbox Series X|S Games To Look Forward To In 2023

HarmanSmith

@themightyant I know, right? Too much complaints about 2022 being "dry" on games, but we had a blast last year with absolute bangers on each front (Xbox, PS, Nintendo)! This year looks great too, tbh.

About the list, the most anticipated, for me, is Hellbalde 2 even though I doubt it will see the light of day this year. I am happy just to get it whenever it is ready

Re: Hands On: Our First Impressions Of GoldenEye 007 On Xbox Game Pass

HarmanSmith

@Mrzoomer Hybrid Heaven? Cool man! I think I played that one before Goldeneye (it was cheaper, because it was relatively unknown). And this along with Castlevania 64 were my first 3D games. I still remember how I went "wow"! Those games looked "super realistic" for me (at the time of course). I felt like playing a movie, lol. Those were the days...

Re: Hands On: Our First Impressions Of GoldenEye 007 On Xbox Game Pass

HarmanSmith

@Banjo- It would be very nice if they add this one to the FPS Boost program.

Oh man, those times when the frame rate hit the 10s and 20s, it felt like if you were playing in slow mo! Even with that, it was beautiful in its own kind of way.

And now, with a (mostly stable, I think) 30fps it feels sooo good. I have never emulated it but with 60fps I will be a blast, that's for certain!

Re: Hands On: Our First Impressions Of GoldenEye 007 On Xbox Game Pass

@Mrzoomer I don't know if all these are retro, but on the top of my head:

Maui Mallard in Cold Shadow (I think it was released for the SNES and it's on Steam and GOG), a shooter/platformer with Donald Duck as protagonist. It is very simple, but it was colourful, dynamic, and it had great music.

Also I loved the Tiny Toons games (of the NES era I think) and the Robocop games (there was a crossover one with Terminator, methinks - I would love to see these ones on the new cartridges that the retro market releases from time to time for the retro consoles).

On the more modern ones, I would say Soul Reaver 1&2 (classics!), Killer7 (obviously, with my profile pic showing it), the old Castlevanias (I play IV every now and then), and even two lost "gems" of the N64 era - Body Harvest and Hybrid Heaven.

BTW, I would love if Konami and Nintendo bring back Castlevania 64 and the aforementioned Hybrid Heaven on their NSO service. Good memories, good formative games of the 3D era

By the way, congrats! ☺️

Re: Hands On: Our First Impressions Of GoldenEye 007 On Xbox Game Pass

HarmanSmith

@Mrzoomer Yeah, agreed with you on that! There is so much bloat (sometimes mandatory, and that's the worst kind of bloat) in games these days. I prefer to dwelve in the old days, where games where fun, tight and focused. I love Goldeneye 007 even in this imperfect and janky way.

@Kaloudz Haha, the cool kids with their VR games and new IPs. I am feeling like a grumpy man that thinks "Where have all the good times gone?" (with The Kinks song in my mind, lol).

Re: Hands On: Our First Impressions Of GoldenEye 007 On Xbox Game Pass

HarmanSmith

@Kaloudz Are they still locked? Have you checked the achievements section on the dashboard?

I think they were locked last night or not functioning when I played the first 4 missions. However, I saw the achievements section on the home menu and I saw I got them, it just happened that the "pop" notification (the one that appears on screen) wasn't showing them to me.

Hope it helps, had a blast last night when I downloaded it!

Re: Here's The Complete List Of Xbox Achievements In GoldenEye 007

HarmanSmith

@Kaloudz I know, mate! I am starting to feel like that old Steve Buscemi meme whenever I see those young, brave new gamers with their Elden Rings and soulslikes, borneslikes, metroidvaniasoulslikes and whatchamacallit 😂.

I can't wait to try the 00 difficulty again! Let's see how many "zeroes" are left in this old body of mine.

Re: Review: Persona 3 Portable - Atlus' JRPG Classic Still Feels Essential

HarmanSmith

@Clankylad @Kaloudz I felt that way too with the vanilla version of P5.

Hey, I love P5 as much as anyboby else. But it felt tooo much, even if I liked most of it. I threw the towel around the 80 hours mark to never return...

Now, I want to try and finally beat P5R and see if this is indeed a "better" version (having played Strikers and SMTV last year).

I would like to make a Persona-thon and beat 3,4 and 5 this first half of year, but that would be lying to myself, lol.

Re: Ubisoft CEO Reportedly Asks Employees For 'Energy & Commitment' After Game Cancellations

HarmanSmith

I know Ubisoft ha smade some wrong choices and all that about the toxic working environment...that's all their own fault, to be honest.

BUT...I have liked their games since the late 90's, and I can honestly say that I spent many happy days enjoying their output. So, I would like them to get their act together sooner than later and start making some smart moves, even if it seems unlikely.

Re: Xbox Game Pass Growth Slower Than Expected After Microsoft Sets High Targets

HarmanSmith

I know MS play with Game Pass is aimed at the long run...but, to me, thier approach is kinda odd.

Like other gamers have said, GP is great value for a certain market. BUT, outside of those already subbed and people who come to sites like this, there is like ZERO advertising for what it is the stellar gaming program of MS/Xbox.

Of course, the severe lack of first-party/exclusive games is hurting the program too. I wonder if MS will be pushing hard GP in 2023...

Re: Alan Wake's Nintendo Switch Launch Highlights The Xbox 360's Brilliance

HarmanSmith

Sorry, I may be part of te problem here, but Alan Wake is one of my all time faves - so I just bought it on Switch (but haven't tried it yet).

Currently, now I have the original X360 game (which plays beautifully with FPS Boost, like @Kezelpaso said), the Remastered version (on PS5 - just love to have it on a PS platform too) and now on Switch.

I am a sucker for Remedy games - now, bring back Quantum Break to the shared universe (with a sequel, maybe)!
