Microsoft has confirmed that the very popular $1 trial for Xbox Game Pass has been "stopped". Various fans spotted the removal of the offer over the weekend, which was followed up by an official statement from the company.
Speaking to The Verge, the head of global communications at Xbox (Kari Perez) explained that the team was evaluating other marketing promotions for new Xbox Game Pass members in the future:
“We have stopped our previous introductory offer for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass and are evaluating different marketing promotions for new members in the future."
For obvious reasons, the ultra-cheap trial for Xbox Game Pass has consistently proved a hit with Xbox owners, and there's always a chance we may see it again in the future. For now though, it sounds like Microsoft has other ideas.
Don't forget that the company is also preparing for a rollout of the Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family plan, which is currently being tested in various countries. It's impossible to say for sure, but perhaps this has something to do with the removal of the $1 trial offer?
