Welcome to the first weekend in May! We've got plenty to keep ourselves busy with over the next few days, including Redfall & Ravenlok on Xbox Game Pass, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor after Respawn pushed out its first post-launch patch, and of course, four more Free Play Days titles to try through May 7.
Here's what we're playing this weekend:

This weekend, I'm gonna be digging back into Resident Evil 4 some more. After reviewing Dead Island 2 I got distracted from Capcom's fantastic remake, so it's about time I jumped back in. I've not had chance to play since the team added the game's Mercenaries mode either, so, I'll be trying that out!
And with that, I've decided that I'll be holding off on Redfall for now. There are just too many issues present at launch, so it's time to be patient, wait for that 60FPS mode and see what else gets sorted between now and then. If you are giving Redfall a go this weekend, I hope you enjoy your time with Arkane's latest title.
Have a great weekend!
PJ O'Reilly, Staff Writer
It's been quite a drama-packed week with both Redfall and Ravenlok dropping to very underwhelming reviews, and so I'll be attempting to relax and get away from it all this weekend by getting properly stuck into Respawn's Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. I thought Fallen Order had some distracting issues that held it back a little, it was a bit clunky in combat and underwhelming in places, especially during its lacklustre early planets, but this sequel is an absolute blast.
Elsewhere, if I can drag myself away from watching the King's coronation (heavy sarcasm) I'll also be continuing to slowly make my way through The Last Case of Benedict Fox, which has been a bit of a mixed bag so far but the Lovecraftian bent to the narrative means I'm compelled to stick with it.
Have a good weekend!

Ahoy PX gang!
This weekend I’m going to be kicking back with my new Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Nintendo Switch OLED to play a bit of Breath of the Wild ahead of TotK’s launch next Friday. I know, I know, it’s not Xbox but can you blame me? Sadly Redfall isn’t up to scratch right now, so I’ll be holding off playing it until a few FPS patches and some rejigging with the AI. Worth mentioning I do find it super interesting, so my delay on playing it is because I think it could be fun.
Back in keeping with our green website’s primary focus, I’ll be jumping into a few games of Gears of War 3 here and there after playing it last week. Hopefully I can twist Mr Ben Kerry’s arm to go a few rounds with me... 12 years on and the picking up of Gnashers to blast big bad beasties into bits and pieces is still a very fun time.
Happy gaming folks!

SWITCH - playing some more Breath of the Wild in preparation for Tears of the Kingdom next week! Plus some Sonic Frontiers on the side.
3DS - nothing on here this weekend.
PS5 - The usual weekly GTA Online session with friends later tonight, plus might also start on Returnal! Heard good things about it.
PC - Going to start Hi-Fi Rush today! Also heard good things about this one.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Starting playing Redfall and I dont mind the gameplay loop but it desperately needs 60fps and bugs fixing so will hold off. Playing Hi Fi Rush and Star Wars
I enjoy playing Redfall
Halo MCC, Super smash bros - 64, Melee, Brawl, on my Wii & another week of my PS5 in standby, I guess ill clean it this weekend or something.
Playing Donkey Punch Champions: Survival Edition and maybe a little bit of Butthole Graffiti Competition.
Shall be giving Blazblue Cross Tag Battle a good go this weekend in between the Formula 1 and Formula E.
And of course some more Ghostwire: Tokyo Spirit collecting when I fancy some downtime.
I'll be playing the Kings coronation
On Playstation 5 I will be continuing with God of War Ragnarok, Project Zero Lunar Eclipse and YS 8 Lacrimosa of Dana.
On Switch I will be playing Splatoon 3 as its Splatfest weekend, Bayonetta Origins and Harvestella
@Razputinman You will enjoy Returnal, it's an excellent game and can now be played online with another person which does help as the game gets quite hard fast.
Played more of Redfall last night. Still finding it buttery smooth, and liking the art style and gun play, but a few more glitches started appearing. Some great looking locations for sure, but the lack of variety in enemies and overall repetitive nature of the quests and gameplay is dulling the experience now.
Just had a go on HiFi Rush and didn't enjoy it at all. Can't see what the fuss is about. Cool artwork but it's not exactly smooth and the beat/combat mechanics feel clunky.
Just beat Ratchet & Clank Tools of Destruction this morning on ps3 after beating Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart the past week on ps5. Also reached level 100 in Fortnite and beat Ghostwire: Tokyo.
Might play Redfall on the Xbox Series X but I also surprised my friendgroup with a NSO+EP Family Plan on my cost so we can play stuff like Mario Kart 64 and GoldenEye together.
This week I have completed Dead Island 2. As of right now, it’s in my top five for the GOTY discussion, behind Hi-Fi Rush, Octopath Traveler 2, and RE4 Remake. I really enjoyed the game from start to finish.
My only issue with the game is its lack of guidance on some side quests. Oftentimes, I was left wondering where to go to advance the plot, and it broke my immersion. Nonetheless, it is a fantastic game.
As for the weekend, I shockingly have the place to myself for two days because my wife and child will be out of town. This will be perfect to finally start Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (Xbox Series X).
I’ve also been reading more comics and graphic novels. I’m really enjoying the #1 issues of the new Dawn of DC. Most recently read was Shazam #1 which was wonderful.
Keeping it in the DC family, Peacemaker Tries Hard! #1 was brilliant and I’m looking forward to this current run, along with the upcoming Green Lantern and Titans run.
I also recently finished Kevin Smith’s Daredevil Guardian Devil and it was absolutely brilliant, and quite possibly one of the best graphic novels I’ve ever read. I’m now reading Frank Miller’s Daredevil Born Again, and then I’ll be moving on to Chip Zdarsky’s run into this superhero.
Mainly playing through Resident Evil 4 Remake
@darkswabber I actually beat Ratchet & Clank Tools of Destruction last week so it's cool someone else played it as well. What did you think of the game?
@Solidchief i know u didnt ask me but, tools of destruction is sick. its one of the GOATS , definitely up there with r&c 2 and the first game for me. im glad yall played it recently & glad its not forgotten. wish theyd re-release it or something with trophy support
@nomither6 @Solidchief it was great. Preferred it over R&C2016 but didn’t like it as much as R&C Rift Apart. (The 3 games I played).
The weapons where really fun and you can see how much insomniac loves ToD too seeing how Rift Apart is one giant reference fest towards ToD (and from what I understand, Into the Nexus).
I know what I'm not playing - Resident Evil 1 on xbox.
It's RE 4 still and Jedi Survivor....both wonderful.
Playing through some Redfall, then probably Watch Dogs Legion, the bloodlines dlc
I'm replaying Telltale Game of Thrones and Wolf Among Us, then Rayman Origins on wife profile. And while family watch coronation, I'm playing Zelda Spirit Tracks.
@BBB Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised by Dead Island 2. It had the Xbox 360 era energy, and the soundtrack was awesome, especially in the last mission. I’ll probably jump back into it and mop up the remaining side quests I have left.
@BBB Fallen Order is very good. Not the smoothest experience (even on XSX), but very playable with lots of different environments. Currently working through Kashyyyk and reckon I'll finish this one before picking up Survivor at some point.
I'll try to log some time into the Splatfest.
Also continue on with Persona 3 Portable.
@nomither6 100% agree with you. They definitely need to re release them for PS5.
@darkswabber You should definitely check out the PS2 Ratchet and Clank games that are also available on PS3. The first game is a bit dated but still great and is hilarious.
@Solidchief I just started Quest for Booty since apparently it’s only 2 hours long and ridiculously easy.
Gonna play crack and nexus after, then 1 to 3, them gladiator and then finally the psp and ps3 spin offs.
Making my way through the mistlands in Valheim
I should finish redfall today or tomorrow. I might finally get around to ghosts of tsushima as well if I have time.
Redfall for me this weekend.
Well I’m not playing Redfall thats for sure. What a disaster!
Finished Ravenlok this morning (started yesterday night), excellent indie title. Only took about 5 hours to finish with all achievements.
Continuing through Redfall (on PC Game Pass) since I'm enjoying the mindless Vamp killing. The gunplay, abilities and overall creepy post-apocalyptic atmosphere is done well in my opinion. Yes the game has its bugs/glitches, but I find them comical and they don't take away from my enjoyment of the game.
Kind of a wierd week until totk. So I guess some redfall? I don't want to start anything else on switch, and I'm not sure what else to play on xbox. I did try out Ravelok which was so bland and boring. The visuals are amazing though. And I grew tired of benedict fox quickly after running back and forth to same areas without progressing. So im just not sure this weekend
I'm about 2/3 of the way through Jedi: Survivor and loving it. Played some more Redfall last night with the guys, too. One of them couldn't make it, so the rest of us started a new file on one of their accounts instead of mine, each of us choosing new characters and whatnot, and we ended up just as far along as we were in our original playthrough. People are dumping all over these games, but I'm having a blast with them, and I'm playing both on PC. Neither are perfect, but they both work well enough to be fun.
Started and beat the Alice in Wonderland game...
I forget what it's called...
RavenLok, that's right.
Anyway, it was good, but things I didn't care for:

1 - No going back to the family farm
2 - It has the same ending type as most / all Zelda games: The world doesn't react to you beating the final boss and you start at the beginning of the final "dungeon."
Redfall done just over half main missions having great time playing on xsx
Redfall all the way. Can't stop playing it .
Uncharted: Golden Abyss (Vita) - Making my way deep into a giant hole in the ground.
Jetpack Joyride (Windows Phone) - Nearly done now, not much left to unlock.
Not a lot of time to play but put a few hours in The Last Case Of Benedict Fox. What a gorgeous game (big fan of the art styl) but with clunky controls. How could they be so wrong in that departement while the other one is top notch imo. The message “You need more items to solve this puzzle” is really annoying & unnecessary frustrating at times imo. I was hoping it would give me the same surprise experience as Tinykin which played like a dream, but unfortunately, it isn’t. At first I couldn’t understand the negative reviews because I had a blast. The game is just not player friendly if that makes sense?
Is nobody playing theirs games before releasing them? (Rhetoric)
Playing Ravenlok, since Redfal is bullsh*t, and the last case of Benedict FOX is not in a good playable State as well. At least graphics and combat are ok with Ravenlok, the AI is on the easy side but compared to Redfall it' s good.
Quite frankly I am impressed and disapointed to see that many of you are playing Redfal this weekend, this game is broken and barely in playable State just like Pokémon Scarlet, but you are encouraging and giving them good reason to continue releasing broken games by purchasing and playing them so all of you Who are playing this game stop whinning in the future when they will release again a broken piece of junk and charge you 100$ for their lack of talent.
Guess I'll fire up a game from the BL. Shantae Half Genie Hero it is.
Final Fantasy IV PIxal Remaster (Switch) Continuing with this game I am about to enter the Tower of Babel. Hopefully I can finish this off before Tears comes out.
Dead Island 2, gave up, sucked. Jedi Survior, performance dumpster fire.
Last night, never played Bowers Fury on Switch, beat that.
Tried Mirrors Edge, super clunky, didn't hold my interest. Starting tonight, Hitman Series on PC.
Still on Loop Hero and still getting done fairly fast even with limiting myself to 1-3 Achievements a day for Rewards Points. Don't wanna put it down but want the Points more.
Going through hi fi rush and a much delayed 2nd playthrough of Bloodborne
@BobCoffee Titanfall 2 still is the best shooter. 3 would be awesome
I’m on the last chapter of resident evil 4 remake so I’ll hopefully have that finished up this weekend.
I 100% ori and the blind forest definitive edition map
Truly enjoyed it
Trying to finish Kingdom hearts 1.5 + 2.5 before Zelda... Only missing Aqua's playthrough of birth by sleep and the cutscenes of the last game in the Collection.
On Xbox I’m still working my way through Hi-Fi Rush. It’s still great. I’m also starting another play through of Enslaved Odyssey to the West. On PS5 I’m jumping between H Burning Shores and WRC Generations. And on Switch when I need something completely different I hop into Slay the Spire. Have a great weekend!
I’ve been playing a game called Darkwood. It’s really really good. Like a horror survival game with no jump scares.
On Xbox I started Cult of the Lamb again. I’ve not stuck with it so far hopefully the time it will as it’s quality.
Bread Factory Simulator all week for me.
I'm jumping between BOTW in prep for TOTK, Jedi Survivor, and Mass Effect Legendary Edition. I made it through 1 for the first time and now I've made it to ME2, which will be my second playthrough, I played 2 & 3 on PS3 back when they released and all I can say is I'm super impressed by the remastering job. It has to be one of the best remasters I've ever played & it looks amazing on Series X, especially with the HDR tuned right. I was blown away by how good it looks for a game over a decade old. It's hard to stop playing it to catch up for TOTK. I'm really looking forward to seeing their remastering of ME3, it was the best looking then & if it's as good as ME2's upgrades, I applaud the effort & time they've put into these. ME3's combat was always my favorite & I actually played quite a lot of the multiplayer maps they used to have. It's disappointing those aren't included but not surprising, now that I think of it, I'm wondering if the maps still work on the original version that's on GP. If anyone knows, please lmk!
I'd also really like to dive in to the Metal Gear Solid HD collection that I bought physical, I never got to play those when they released. It's just hard to find the time!
Played GG Strive, a little Jedi: Survivor (PC...delaying for a second patch) and a ton of Redfall (mostly PC). The complaints are merited (if not less severe after day one patch and new GeForce Now drivers). However, Redfall is still a lot of fun. I am towards the end (two sub bosses and the final boss are left, I believe). The shame is that it could have been a lot better, though won't get a sequel.
@Kaloudz Glad you liked it, I am yet to try Redfall (whenever the download is ready: my internet connection is pretty slow lol).
I finished Hi-Fi, and now I am on Ghostwire: Tokyo. You were right. I am loving it! All the lore and the japanese folklore is great, the gameplay is cool, and the story is interesting.
When it released on PS, I didn't care much about it, but I read that it got some bad rap among critics and players. I don't why!
I must say, I am more intrigued by this one than Deathloop (the another PS exclusive back then), which was the opposite, highly praised, but it didn't click with me (so far, at least; I got to give it another chance).
I was introduced to 'Slay The Spire' and can't stop playing, it's quite addictive. Been playing Bejeweled 3 as well.. haha!
