I already own two copies of Shovel Knight and have played through them about six times total, and I'm STILL going to buy it for XONE when it releases. I'm incredibly curious to see what Yacht Club has done with the Battletoads.
I'm with you guys. I just can't comprehend why it's so complicated to make a good TMNT game. Imagine if Activision contracted an indie developer to make a proper sequel to Turtles in Time. It would only need to be an hour-long downloadable game with retro visuals. If done well, something like that would probably sell like mad across all home consoles. I have to imagine it would cost peanuts to make, too. I know Activision doesn't really care about the quality of these cash grabs, but man, it seems so simple and effortless.
@EternalDragonX That's kind of my concern too. I recently picked up Driveclub and am still playing Forza Horizon 2 here and there. I plan on getting Forza 6 when that releases, so I'm not sure I want to cram in another racer between now and then. I probably will, though, because Project Cars does look sweet. Maybe I'll wait to see how it reviews before making the decision.
@EternalDragonX Regardless of whether I was in single player or multiplayer, the screen tearing was out of control in The Pre-Sequel. I don't recall it going away when I closed the game and reopened it, and that shouldn't be a solution anyway.
@Gamer83 Oh, the bad ones will certainly be entertaining, I'm sure. I'll make a note now so I won't forget to whip something up for the release of Arkham Knight. Should be a good time. There's plenty of Batman to talk about.
Thanks for sharing your MK memories and stories, everyone. I love hearing people reflect on their gaming past. Maybe I'll try to come up with some sort of feature that allows us to do this more often. Arkham Knight is fast approaching, and I'm sure many of us have Batman-related stories worth telling. Am I right?
So... anyone played any MKX yet? Let us know what you think! I sat down with it for an hour last night and walked away impressed. Because I've been spending so much time with Killer Instinct, though, I was fumbling through the tutorial. But I'm sure I'll be mastering fatalities and combos before you know it.
@Red620Ti I haven't played Shaolin Monks! I've been on the hunt for a copy locally, but every time I come across it, it happens to be in egregious condition. Maybe I'll just suck it up and order a copy online, even though I hate doing that.
I'm definitely going to play this. I've been reviewing the 3DS versions for Nintendo Life for a few years now, and I feel like I need to get a better idea of what the whole, true Farming Simulator experience is like — the handheld versions are extremely basic and limited. It looks like an entirely different series, honestly.
I've bought into the hype. I'm so eager to know exactly what's going on, but I'm also enjoying the mystery. I hope 343 knocks it out of the park with this one. I really do.
I didn't anticipate seeing this until the end of the year anyway, so September makes no difference to me. Honestly, I think everyone is finally getting sick of zombies — I know I am. It's going to be interesting to see how this one sells.
@TwilightAngel I guess that's what I expected to hear, but I was holding onto a little bit of hope, thinking the game might have SOMETHING decent going for it. Is it bad that I may still pick up a used copy if I come across one soon? I'm way too curious now.
@A_BabyRed_Yoshi Mortal Kombat has always been welcoming to newcomers. I read an interview with Ed Boon the other day and it sounds like he wants to keep it that way. Guess we'll find out soon enough.
Please tell me SOMEONE has played this game? I want to hear some other opinions! It seems there were a couple critics that compared it to Alien and thought it was solid, but they're the minority.
I wish these announcements would've been saved for a little while after the game's release. Let people worry about the 200+ hours of gameplay that's — supposedly — already on the disk before proposing another 30. That's super overwhelming to think about already.
I'm thrilled about this. Of course I'm always open to more tables being added to Pinball FX2, but it's even more exciting when the table's release date and theme coordinate with an entertainment event. If it were any other company, we'd all be terrified of a last minute announcement of a licensed game. But, given Zen Studio's track record of making great pinball tables, worrying is probably unnecessary.
@Red620Ti That's crazy! Now that I think about it, I want to say that I probably put 100+ hours into the Rainbow Six games on the original Xbox. Definitely RS3 and Black Arrow. I generally went to work on two hours of sleep because of those games.
I'm through four bosses in Bloodborne now... even beat the last on my first try. I just thought you all should know that. I'm feeling really good about it considering how poorly I started out.
Anyone in Europe get Dark Souls II for Xbox One or PS4? Other than Red, I mean. If so, how is it? With the way I've taken to Bloodborne, I'm definitely going to pick it up on Tuesday when it releases in the US.
@JaxonH 250 hours... are you kidding?!! That's madness! Honestly, it makes me happy just to think that a game can mean that much to someone. I'm not sure I've ever logged hours like that with a single game. I believe I crossed the 100 hour mark in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and that might be the highest — unless you count SNES games that I replay frequently, but there's no way for me to know exactly how long I spent with those overall.
Anyway, now I want to get back to Monster Hunter. I got so sidetracked with it a while back that I haven't played in weeks. Maybe a month, actually. I'll try to change that this weekend.
I haven't played this either, but I'm hoping to find an Xbox or GameCube copy next time I'm retro game shopping. It seems to sell for about $6, so I'll take a chance on it.
I've spent a lot of time with the PS Vita version, and I like it enough to put this on my Xbox One hard drive. I wouldn't go as far as to agree with the couple of 10/10 reviews out there, but it's pretty rad game regardless.
I have a natural attraction to games with stupid titles, so I was into this before watching the trailer. Now that I've seen the gameplay footage, however, I'm even MORE into this. I'll be watching closely and investigating PC reviews when the game launches.
I'm tempted to buy this, but I'd like to read a few reviews first. An arcade-style baseball game sounds nice right about now. Sure, The Show looks fantastic as usual, but it requires more time and effort than I'm looking to invest at the moment.
@A_BabyRed_Yoshi I hadn't considered playing through both, honestly. I probably won't do it due to all the games currently on my schedule, but it's certainly a good idea for anyone looking to bump up that Gamerscore score!
I was a massive, MASSIVE Rainbow fan back in the day. The Vegas series didn't really do it for me, but I loved the games on the original Xbox. My friends and I used to play online nearly every night of the week. So, yeah... I'm truly excited for this. Hopefully it isn't rushed and lacking content at launch.
I'll be getting this for PS4 tomorrow, but I'm glad to hear that it'll be Xbox bound in 2016. If I end up liking the game enough, I'll be sure to also grab it for Xbox One when it releases.
It's cool to see that Bloodborne sold that well. I'm not 100% in love with how uninviting the game is to anyone unfamiliar with the Souls series, but once you figure things out and level up, it's a pretty spectacular experience. Hopefully its success will prove to some of the major publishers that new IP that caters to advanced players can still make bank.
This seems like a mix of elements from Ori and the Blind Forest and Fenix Rage. The controls appear a bit awkward in the trailer, but at least the game looks much better in motion than that screenshot above would suggest. I thought it was a DS game at first.
I really like the route the advertising campaign is taking. All of the mystery surrounding the plot has Halo 5 feeling like an event and not just a video game, and that's a lot of fun.
By the way, @Gamer83, not EVERYONE found Halo 4 to be a letdown. Actually, it's my favorite campaign in the Halo series. My only real complaint was that there were too many vehicle-based missions.
@Gamer83 Seems we're all good with MKX considering it's available for pre-load on Xbox One. But I don't blame you. I've been skeptical of the release date for quite some time.
I played this when it released for Wii U. Outside of how effortless it is to get stuck and dealing with the odd controls, it's pretty fantastic. The plot is incredibly intriguing, the setting is consuming and tense, and the puzzles can be remarkably clever. As long as you don't mind looking up a walkthrough when you become unsure of how to make progress — which will happen — I recommend checking it out.
I'm interested to hear everyone's thoughts on this game. Did you end up enjoying the single player as much as I did, or is it multiplayer that's really doing it for you? Let me know if you agree with my review or if your experience was very different. Also, would you prefer to see the Battlefield franchise continue to venture away from the military themes of the mainline installments? I'm super curious here, so please share!
Bummer — I was hoping to play this when I have a little time between reviews. Sounds like I won't like it, though. Thanks for saving me the money, Tyler!
@CaffeinatedGamr Actually, that's one I haven't played, but I do plan to get around to it soon. I've been keeping an eye out for a physical copy around town.
The "downside" is that I already own every game on the list that I'd consider buying. There's some decent stuff there, though. Like...Duke Nukem Forever. I own it. It's one of the best. games. of. all. time. Trust me.
