Axiom Verge is a game that is currently lighting up the interwebs, due to the fact that the Metroidvania-style title is launching on PlayStation 4 this week.
Of course, the fact that it looks like it could be a proper stunner in terms of gameplay is just another good reason. Sadly, Xbox fans haven't been feeling the love from developer Thomas Happ, with the game only being confirmed for PlayStation platforms and Steam so far, but there's good news on the horizon. Via Axiom Verge's official Twitter feed, Happ has now confirmed that the game is heading to Xbox One, just not until 2016.

It looks like Sony have it locked in for console exclusivity for an entire year. At least that's what it looks like from this next tweet...

It may be a little while off for Xbox owners, but there's reason to be excited. Our good friends over at Push Square have been waxing lyrical about Axiom Verge this week. Check out their review to see why you should be excited for an Xbox One version.

I'll be getting this for PS4 tomorrow, but I'm glad to hear that it'll be Xbox bound in 2016. If I end up liking the game enough, I'll be sure to also grab it for Xbox One when it releases.
I really don't get it. I don't understand why there is a craze for all these 'retro' and dated games. I could understand it a little more if they were given the modern twist with a visual upgrade instead of these 8/16bit visuals - even if they still want to keep the very retro game play.
I didn't spend £100's to play 'retro' games - games that could easily be played on a SNES so easily capable of being played on last gen - no upgrade required.
There was a reason games looked that way, used text speech bubbles and had basic gameplay and that was down to the technology. Almost overnight (for me at least) I left 2D platforming (my favourite style of game) behind and that changed with the added dimension that Super Mario 64 gave us. With that and games like Goldeneye, I really can't get interested in 2D gaming. I have tried playing many of the 2D games I used to enjoy (in many retro compilations and available free on pc gaming sites) but yearn for that added dimension.
