Welcome to the weekend! There's lots to check out on Xbox over the next couple of days, including a batch of Xbox Game Pass additions, three more Free Play Days titles, and the usual set of weekly sales. Oh, and Death's Door just got our first 10/10 of the year, so we think you should definitely consider picking it up!
Here's what we’re jumping into over the weekend:
Fraser Gilbert, News Editor
I have to admit, despite all the great Xbox Game Pass additions and the near-perfect release of Death's Door, I'm going to be spending a lot of time playing F1 2021 once again this weekend. I didn't play much of last year's version, and so everything from the Braking Point story mode to MyTeam feels really fresh right now.
I'll undoubtedly check out a couple of the new Game Pass titles though. Supernatural adventure Last Stop looks right up my alley, and I'm eager to finally get stuck into some of the Chrono Trigger and Persona 5 inspired Cris Tales.
You better believe I'll be devoting my time to Microsoft Flight Simulator from Tuesday as well!
Have a good weekend, folks.

This week has been ridiculously hot in the UK, so my plans to play The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD on my Switch were scarpered. That being said, this weekend is meant to be a lot cooler, so I'm hopefully making the dive.
As for Xbox stuff, I'll be playing similar games to Fraser. Both Cris Tales and Last Stop are on my to-do list, and alongside those I'll be continuing to get the complete 100% in Death's Door - hopefully without a guide!
I'm also really eager to finish my replay of Psychonauts. I've been meaning to for weeks, but life keeps getting in the way. Fingers crossed I can make a big dent in it over the weekend.
Have a great one, everyone!
What Xbox games are you playing this weekend? Let us know down in the comments below.

Rage 2 though I'm getting frustrated cause I'm not sure how to advance in the story.
Last stop, and a bit of Av Valhalla as well
Trying to finish Halo MCC before the mad rush of new games. Only a few days left!
Looking to finish up The Medium and Steins;Gate this weekend, so will be mostly playing those. I have to say that Steins;Gate is one of the best games I've ever played and it's been a very long time since I've come across a title as phenomenal as this. If this were to come to Xbox one day, I think it would be a huge deal. Definitely one of the best visual novels ever made in my opinion.
The Medium is an excellent horror title as well. I think it's the culmination of everything Bloober Team has done so far. The previous games like Layers of Fear and Observer were mostly walking sims but The Medium actually has a lot of puzzle-solving sort of like the Resident Evil/Silent Hill games. I've been enjoying it a lot so far and it's definitely one of the best horror games I've experienced along with Dead Space and Resident Evil Remake.
Dragon Quest 11 and Returnal (trying).
Dying light on story mode (reading world war Z seriously compliments the game ahha), bit of stars wars unleashed, still eating peeps in New Vegas. Waiting for flight simulator and the ascent and should the gaming God's will it, forbidden city.
This weekend is all about Doom Eternal and Duke Nukem Forever. Two pioneering franchises made modern (although I suppose DNF might actually be considered retro now). Both innovative in very different ways, one is an incredible achievement, and the other, not so much. It's time to rip and tear, and chew bubblegum. And I'm all out of... d*** jokes and chainsaw fuel.
On my Series X I’m playing Death’s door, Orcs must die! 3, and some CoD. On my PS4 Pro I’m playing Red Dead Online. I’m still on the fence about buying F1 2021 for my XSX, so could be playing that as well before the weekend is over.
Death's door and mass effect legendary on the old series s
Blasphemous on the old switcheroo
I'm on my way to the second Big Soul in Death's Door. Really enjoying it so far...
I'm almost done with The Legend Of Zelda BOTW and i can honestly say it's one of the greatest games of all time..
All the praise for Death’s Door is making me think it should be one of my next purchases!
In the meantime I will be playing some Knockout City and I’ve been trying The Touryst before it leaves GP.
I finished Quantum Break earlier this week and it was awesome! Truly interesting story and overall much better than I anticipated. I started on hard and somehow the second act reverted to normal mode so I’m debating going back and replaying it on hard to mop up that last achievement. Highly recommend if someone hasn’t played it!
Just finished up Death’s Door. Amazing game. Think I’ll head back to Sea of Thieves (such a great game now) while waiting for MSFS and Psychonauts 2.
Uncharted: Golden Abyss (Vita) - Finally escaped our captor and now playing Indiana Jones in the jungle!
Minecraft: Story Mode (Windows 10) - After a few delays, I'm finally ready to start Episode 4.
Doodle God (Windows Phone) - Still playing here and there.
Subnautica (Gamepass for PC) has me in it’s grasp. How a game can go from super-chill and relaxing to absolutely terrifying is an amazing trick. Literally, personal courage is the scarcest resource in the game for me haha.
Playing Guilty Gear Strive (PS4) like a madman. Was going through the whole roster to learn characters but can’t seem to move past Anji Mito. My kind of character.
All this Death’s Door hype has me really considering grabbing it.
@LtSarge Steins;Gate has to be one of the best sci-for stories ever. The only flaw is how obtuse your choices are as far as how they affect the story. Otherwise, it’s perfect. You might dig 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim if you ever get the chance to play it.
@Mamabear I loved Control — way more than I thought I would — so I’m tempted to go back and try Quantum Break. I’m worried the “television shows” are going to be a big drag.
@The_New_Butler I did not. I might go back to it, but planting all the life seeds was a bit more than I wanted to deal with at the moment.
@Spiders Agreed. I honestly didn't even know that you could make a call during critical moments of the game, lol. I got the first possible ending you could get because of that and when I got back to the point where I was at, I realised that the game has a symbol at the end of the sentence whenever you can make a call.
But yeah, I'm trying to get all the endings and getting the true ending really requires a guide, so I agree that it's pretty much the only flaw with the game.
I actually have 13 Sentinels in my backlog so I'm happy to hear the comparison to Steins;Gate! This is actually the first game I'm playing in the Science Adventure series and I didn't even know this was a thing to begin with. I have Chaos;Child in my backlog and apparently that game is part of the series as well. Not to mention the Robotics;Notes games which I definitely have to get if they are good as well.
I finished the battle pass up a few days ago for Cold War…thinking I’m going to try and either finish up Torchlight 2 or play some Mario Tennis Aces. Backlog is so long I totally forgot I had Aces.
It's just multiplayer for me this weekend. Gears 5 Horde/Escape on Series X and Overwatch on pc. Waiting until Thursday to jump in on The Ascent.
@everynowandben dude I have to admit Duke Nukem Forever is one of my guiltiest pleasures. The guiltiest maybe haha I just love it and I don't know why
@Tothington91 Hahaha yeah, it's just over the top dumb fun. Not all the jokes are landing, and the gameplay is honestly pretty sub-par, but I'm still having a blast with it. It's so all over the place too - I'm always anticipating what wacky mechanic or ridiculous one liner is coming next. If you haven't already, check out Shadows of the Damned and Shadow Warrior for similarly raunchy stupid fun.
Well the plan WAS to play Cris Tales all weekend. However, the enemy telegraphing is abysmal, the save system is archaic and I can't skip a tutorial I've already seen three bloody times. So basically, Cris Tales: do one.
A strong contender for Game of the Year, Death’s Door. I’m absolutely in love with this game.
I just 100%'d The Touryst and now I'm on to Battlefield 1 to finish my last BF campaign.
I finished up Mass Effect Legendary Edition. And now debating going back in to complete the second one on Insanity difficulty as it’s the only achievement I have left (first game is a doddle on Insanity; third game has some intense bits; but the second one is where the pain truly lives on Insanity mode)
On XSS: Forza Horizon 4. Waiting for The Ascent and Hades to hit Game Pass
On PS5 : Mass Effect 3
@Spiders I thought Control was a lot of fun… It’s what got me to want to try out Alan Wake and now Quantum Break. The stories are just weird and interesting. I don’t know if Remedy has other games but I’d definitely be interested to play them.
I have to admit the first “movie” had me going what the heck is this? 😂 I didn’t know about them before I started. I did end up watching them all because I thought it was such a good way to pack in extra character development and story related info. Plus the cast acting and way it was done was cool. If it ends up not being your cup of tea though they can be skipped.
@Bmartin001 If there is a better game, I haven’t played it.
Just downloaded and started Deaths Door and it's pretty damn good. And some Skyward Sword on switch.
I'm doing my "umbrella run" in Death's Door in order to secure my 1000G.
Been playing Gears 5 campaign co-op with my nephew, which has been pretty fun. But oh boy this cast of characters are just atrocious! None of the fun or charm of the original cast, Kait especially needs to bugger off back to the Life Is Strange series, just whiny & irritating non stop🙄 I hope she gets killed off by the end of this one!
Been playing Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. Great game with lots of dif min games. I tried Battlefield 1 and didn't like it
Perfect Dark (Rare Replay). Knocking out Special Agent before going for Perfect Agent.
