Microsoft has today confirmed that the Xbox Series X will release for £449.99 in the UK, €499.99 in Europe and $499.99 in the U.S. on November 10th. Pre-orders will begin on September 22nd.

Initially, the Xbox All Access program will support 12 countries, with more to be added next year.

Poor mental 🧠 capacity/intellectual ability of a very concerned and passionate Xbox hater/checkerboard RDR2 player and “bloggers”(@Kotaku) who promote them.
DFC “Intelligence”
2013 : Teraflops absolutely matter more than games(exclusives).
Early 2020 : Teraflops and resolution don’t matter, only games. Checkerboard FTW.
Sep 2020 : How come? Teraflops and resolution absolutely matter now.
We just don’t like Xbox and going to twist narrative anyhow. 😭

Quality price, for an absolute beast of technology.
Price as expected. I believe that Sony will follow.
Finally, the game of chicken was going on too long. I do wonder though if today's announcements would've happened if the Series S leak didn't happen.
Really happy with that price. Can’t wait to pre-order!
It’s also been confirmed that EA Play will be bundled in with Xbox Game Pass, which is frankly incredible.
That tweet says £499?
Great stuff, glad all the details are out now!
@K1LLEGAL They’ve amended it, it’s definitely 449.
Xbox are winning me over here, keep making such great moves and are really handling this build up well.
I wonder if Sony will now come in at a lower price point or match it? With the Series S coming in at such a low price, I don't think Microsoft will be too bothered if they do. If the Series X is indeed 'The most powerful console', then a £20 to £50 price difference isn't going to really matter.
It may well be that it's the Series S that's the biggest seller for the first year or two. I know I'm getting one and I've never owned an Xbox console.
A great price for the specs - I was expecting £500+ based on the hardware. To buy a desktop Zen2 CPU with 8core/16threads clocked at 3.6Ghz would cost £300 alone...
Just need to wait now until I can pre-order...
These are exactly the prices that some of us expected but now Sony will try to undercut Series X to ruin its launch like they did with Xbox One. If so, I hope that Microsoft reacts and drops the price. If PS5 All-Digital is cheaper than Series X, Microsoft should update the price before launch. Microsoft shouldn't let Sony win the chicken game and undercut Series X at the last minute.
Roll on pre-order time! Great price, will be interesting to see what Sony does now. Though really hope the rumored price of the 1TB expansion isn't true! Need that extra space for the games.
@Olliemar28 cool thanks
@FraserG Xbox UK deleted the tweet and redid it with the correct price.

@BlueOcean yea this is an interesting point. If microsoft react price wise to match Sony, obviously thats good but it means they could have always launched at the lower price.
@BlueOcean Sony MAY be able to beat this price on the disc-less PS5. Even that's unlikely.
In any case, I feel sorry for UK people. That's considerably more expensive than the US. Yeah, exchange rates, but still...
Brilliant pricing from MS, I can see them both shifting just a shame that Halo has been delayed
@K1LLEGAL I think that Microsoft and Sony will sell their consoles at a loss for a while but the price tag has a big impact on marketing them, so it would be a pity letting Sony undercut Series X at the last minute.
@IronMan30 Remember that in UK and EU taxes are included.
So guys, how much do you think that PS5 and PS5 All-Digital will cost?
Yep, two great prices. As someone who plans to also buy a PS5, I'm hoping this aggressive pricing from Xbox forces Sonys price down. Its a win for all of us 😁
Well that was unexpected....them going first not the price. That awesome though...feels so much closer now. Can't wait! Still planning on getting it on boxing day but I'll see if I can last that long actually
@IronMan30 its nothing new. Its always more expensive for us in UK
About what I expected, what's blown me away is the All Access + Ultimate Pass + EA Access. Astoundingly good value for money. I'm still more of a PS fan in general, but MS is absolutely smashing it with these announcements. Very tempted to pick up a Series S with the 2 year pass deal.
The only disappointment is that we couldn't enjoy all of this at a big set of E3 conferences this year. It finally feels like all the exciting stuff is being revealed but I definitely prefer the big annual blowout rather than the drip feed of info we've had this summer.
Incredible prices considering the tech thats inside the boxes.
The £24.99 and £34.99 deals are very smart moves on Xbox’s part. Especially considering EA Play is included with XBU.
Exciting times!
@BlueOcean good point but I don't think Sony will undercut because they simply don't have to, the ps4 has a good couple of months recently last of us 2 and ghost of tsushima Sony will carry that forward and match series x for price
@BlueOcean I can’t see Sony being able to undercut the series x. It has a lot of tech in it like the custom ssd, new haptics, possibly liquid metal cooling (unconfirmed) etc.
My guess is that they’ll match series x price but who knows!
Anyway I’m glad MS are finally being aggressive and competing with Sony again. They were underwhelming for me this gen. Is great for us consumers!
@eggsbox @teknium_ So £450/€500/$500 for PS5 All-Digital and more for PS5, you think?
Wow okay finally, it’s about time
299.99 for a next gen console, though weaker than the series X, will still put series S in alot of homes. I know many die hard Sony fans thinking of buying a series S now purely as a gamepass machine. This is what MS wanted
@BlueOcean Given there's a £100 difference in the Gold PS5 prices, I'd guess either:
PS5 digital = £349/€399/$399, PS5 physical = £449/€499/$499
or
PS5 digital = £299/€349/$349, PS5 physical = £399/€449/$449
@BlueOcean I think £450 for the disc ps5 with ps5 digital perhaps in a weird middle ground of its own at around £350ish
@BlueOcean my guess is £449/$499 PS5 disc version, £50/$50 less for digital...
Hopefully we’ll find out soon!
@BlueOcean As great as PS4 has been selling I can't see them revisiting the PS3 "get a second job" price fiasco of $499 and $599, especially during a pandemic when a lot of people don't even have a first JOB. 😝
I've been $399 - $499 since they announced DOE.
I think the killer is less the Series prices as the $25/$35 financing. Doesn't look great for a $300 console for the kids but $35 looks nice for a $500 console for the gamers.
I don't imagine Sony offering a financing option, they can't even be bothered to bundle PS Now and PS+ at a discount and they let PS Vue die.
I think that $€500/£450 for PS5 and $€400/£350 for PS5 All-Digital so PS5 All-Digital would be cheaper than Series X like you all suggest, that might be a problem for Series X to be undercut at the last minute. I hope it isn't.
@BionicDodo agreed I think it’ll be a closer run this time between MS/Sony. Even with the disastrous PS3 launch price it went on to sell more than the 360 so I wouldn’t be surprised if PS5 was more expensive than the X at least to begin with.
@BlueOcean I agree but what you have to consider is the average mum buyer that goes into a game store will see the cheapest Xbox being cheaper than the cheapest PS5 and not caring about specs etc. That’s where Sony have got a problem imo...
@eggsbox Yes, the Series S will sell like hot cakes, I think. It's also better than I expected, I knew it was going to be like Series X but rendering at 1080/1440p with a cheaper GPU and less RAM but I didn't expect it to upscale to 4K so even for people with 4K TVs, Series S is good value.
I knew it was gonna be 499 USD, I'll have to pay probably 599 or 579 because of Canadian dollar..
@Jacko11 & @IronMan30
It’s actually a very favourable UK price for once as USA Price doesn’t include taxes.
In the UK It’s £372 + VAT (£449)
£372 in $ Is currently = $482.72
Whereas US are paying $499 + Taxes
Their tax rate is lower than ours though
No shocker here, as most of us knew the XSX would be $500. And that is a great price for the machine we are getting.
@themightyant yeah, our taxes are fairly low in the US.
@BlueOcean oh, that's pretty cool, not too much higher then.
@BlueOcean I'll go with
PS5 - £419 / $449
PS5 All Digital Edition - £369 / $399
@IronMan30 Indeed! I've taken advantage of them from time to time
Usually in the UK we get shafted twice, once by paying more for the base system and once again on taxes. For once we are paying less on the system, which i'll happily take!
@OorWullie if you're new to the ecosystem make sure you look around and pick up some of the annual Xbox Live Gold cards so you can get upgrade to game pass ultimate for a $1. Great deal especially with EA play and Xcloud bundled into GPU. Can only do 3 years at a time but it's a massive deal for new gamepass users
@BlueOcean Sony was doing the pre order lottery so they could charge $599 and sell out still and then drop prices a few months down the line. What's the point of selling at a loss when it's just going to sell out anyway? All digital might be $499 or $449 at launch... again it will sell out so $499?
So... The same service but with different prices? They are 1st class XBox owner's and 2nd classe Xbox owner's...
@themightyant it's $599 CAD so in Canada we get a favourable price for a change as the FX rate puts $499 USD at around $650 CAD
Sounds like a bargain
€500 for x and €300 for s is as good a price as anyone could hope for. But if you buy through the Xbox all access program you will pay;
€24.99 x 24 = €599.76 for series s.
€34.99 x 24 = €839.76 for series x.
@IronMan30 Our price does include all tax. No state sale tax add at the till. So its not a great deal of difference
Finally the game of chicken is over. Or half over. It kind of makes me angry, though. All that secrecy and artificial mystery, and the price isn't some specially low price....it's exactly what we all thought it would be a year ago, and the same as the X1X launch price. Why the frustrating secrecy?
Shame it didn't come in cheaper. But at least it didn't come in higher! Not sure if I'll get 2 at this point, but I'll at least aim for one. Hopefully Sony gets REALLY aggressive and lowers my total bill.
I'm not at all a fan of the All Access though. On paper it seems like a really cool deal. But opening an entire line of credit just to buy a video game console seems.....remarkably.....stupid? People don't think about credit, apparently.
@TheNewButler But the ding to one's credit that ANY new line (or even approval) incurs....just for a one-time single item credit line? That doesn't sound sensible.
@TheNewButler Every single credit inquiry/credit check for approval of any new line negatively impacts credit. Yes, successful payment history improves the rating after the fact, but the immediate result is a negative impact. So just signing up, you take a negative hit for the inquiry....just for a single item purchase rather than an open line of credit.
I haven’t been able to save up the money so I’m definitely going all access with 35 a month. So pumped!
@TheNewButler
For series x you are paying €340 to play games for 2 years and own zero games at the end of it. That is an absolute rip off.
@TheNewButler The biggest problem with credit for gadgets is the inherent stupidity of a lot of people who take out credit for one.
Throwing so much marketing behind a credit line is even worse.
I get you. For sensible people getting credit and paying off on time and in full is a good thing. But most of the people who get credit are doing it because they cant afford the machine. Very dangerous game.
@BlueOcean
Xbox have just added EA game pass to Xbox game pass at no extra cost.
It keeps coming.
@TheNewButler
I like to buy my games physical. Everyman to his own but for me, I had game pass for a month and I couldn't wait until it expired. You can only play one game at a time. I like buying games when they hit €20 and I like buying brand new. It's a good feeling. Then I can play at my leisure.
@TheNewButler That's right and Game Pass Ultimate is 359.76 for two years so they are paying just 240 for Series S and 480 for Series X.
As someone who’s never owned Xbox, I’m really impressed with what they’re offering, and will prob get a Series S, due to its price. Gamepass along with EA Play now just sounds like a really, really great deal. Will still get PS5 eventually as I still prefer PlayStation and their exclusives are still quite better... but what Xbox shows has really impressed me.
@emj2010 I know it's going to take a while but I am excited about those high-profile games that Xbox Game Studios are developing, especially Fable and Avowed and I'm also intrigued by Everwild and whatever The Initiative is making.
@BlueOcean. True - I’m interested in Fable as well as Halo. My brother had the original Xbox so I’ve played Halo 1+2, but that’s the only Xbox exclusives I’ve played. Well mass effect and outer worlds too, but on PlayStation. I didn’t like outer worlds really, but the new game with Microsoft budget has potential. Also, with one not really having “Xbox nostalgia” all their old games on gamepass are enticing to me as I’ve never played them. Additionally, 4K, ray tracing and all that fancy stuff don’t really interest me too much, so the Series S is really enticing. Unless PlayStation swoops me over, but I don’t see that happening pertaining to either cheaper PS5 or complete overhaul of PS Now.
@emj2010 Actually, you get ray tracing and 1440p with 4K upscaling on Series S. I think that Halo Infinite will be a great game, they have hired old Halo experts to improve and polish it.
@BlueOcean Yeah, time will tell - but def seems interesting. Also, I’ve a 10-15 year old tv, which only does 1080p60. And I’m not really a tech expert, so games will prob still look great to me as well, haha. So for me it’s basically between a new tv or console, or neither - and right now it’s leaning towards XBSS. Being a student together with being from Denmark doesn’t exactly call for having a lot of money, haha. Although the “pay in instalments”/ Xbox Access thing is interesting, however I don’t trust the Danish distributor in offering no additional charges.
@emj2010 Denmark can't be that bad unless you mean it's more expensive. Students everywhere don't have money to burn, though 😆.
Glad to finally see a price and release date for one of the consoles. The price is about what I expected, although I did think the launch date would be late November. The sooner the better, I guess.
Your move, Sony.
@TheNewButler @Jaxx420 It's vaguely tempting for me in that, I am looking at possibly buying 4 consoles - 2 xb, 2 ps5 for the household. Deferring paying of 1/4 of them over 2 years along with GP Ultimate that I'd probably have been paying for anyway sounds pretty nice and makes the wallet hit that much less painful up front.
BUT....the ding. The risk. The distrust of, really, any credit bank, ever makes it a big turn-off too. Plus you never really know what things other than actual CCs and loans really help credit scores versus offer risk. Phone companies, for example, generally do not report positive payments back to credit reporting agencies, only late payments. So while they open risk of harming rating not only due to one's own error but any unexpected gaffes in the system, they have zero positive impact on ones rating at all, ever. Where does this fall on that spectrum? Hard to say, and Citizens' own site doesn't help clarify.
Granted, I'm anti-credit in general. If it can't be bought in cold hard cash, I don't buy, generally speaking. Which of course presents another problem for such approvals: I've never missed a payment on anything - but as I don't use credit much at all, generally, my rating is generally in the "unknown" category - anything of value rolled off the books years before, so I'd probably be more likely for approvals if I just went credit happy and went delinquent on everything
Of course there's the other side of this whole issue: It's an XBox site and we're talking APRs and credit ratings like it's PureNook.com
I might plump for Series X over S simply because my LG CX and TV Stand are dark and the Series S may look out of place (have no choice with PS5 colour sadly but at least it matches the VR headset so doesnt look completely out of place ).
Hardware-wise I dont care which one as long as I get to play a new Fable @KelticDevil you get the hype there!
I have a ton of Game Pass Ultimate months stacked so All Access not worth it for me. Gut says pay upfront and get an X but might take the week to weigh them both up.
@NEStalgia These days positive payments on phone contracts are reported on credit files. Mine is on there.
I rent at the moment and there is a way of getting those reported too now.
But I get what you mean credit scores are so volatile one hard search can damage for a few months.
I think its a fair deal what they are offering. But I would be a little meh if it was pushed as a competitive advantage.
@BlueOcean True, true - I’m also exaggerating a just a “bit”, I guess hahaha
@Jaxx420
I agree! I am so psyched for Fable!
I know people hate on the fact that it didn’t show gameplay. But I don’t care. That CGI trailer showed me they are staying in a fantasy world & will keep the humorous tone of the old games. And Playground Games is a great developer!!
@Z3u5000 Lol, I saw that Tweet yesterday and thought the same thing. SS is not weaker than PS4 Pro, it's much faster and more powerful actually
Let’s gooooo!! Great price.
Pleased at this , more than happy to pay especially as EA play is in the picture!
On a side note, the Xbox access (20 or 30 £ per month) is not available in Northern Ireland, yet it's promoted as a UK deal. Could such a big company as Microsoft get mixed up between GB and UK? Really?
@Krzzystuff Just spotted your reply. Cheers for the info, appreciated.
