I have a 1TB Expansion card in my Series X and a 2TB HDD attached as both overflow and storage for Xbox One/BC games I wanna play, while it definitely involves a lot of chopping and changing and isn't by any means the most efficient way of keeping a collection of games, I manage, and that's all you can really do - manage.
I'd like to get a 2TB Expansion Card at some point, but not only is that an expense I could do without, I actually don't know how I'd transfer over the games currently on my 1TB without grabbing and formatting an old external HDD to use as a temporary store for them. The expense and the time investment are both major reasons to, you know, Just Not.
@OrfeasDourvas arguably yes, but if these documents are a few years old now, like others in the comments are suggesting, they may not even be indicative of the future Xbox product lineup as it stands today. If so, Microsoft would have a hard time proving that their newly public existence does harm to their business or ongoing strategies.
Personally, I feel like a lot of this stuff is the most poorly kept secret actually within the industry because nobody seems... particularly shocked by any of it? It all about seems to add up to where people have thought Microsoft has been going for a while now, because I do remember industry types being shocked that the Series X had a disc drive -at all- when that was finally publicly revealed.
@Sveakungen oh, I know! It's impressive how much fun this game is and it deserves the decent reviews it has been getting more or less across the board, but I definitely would have passed it up if I didn't have access to the trial and I am definitely getting that feeling from a lot of online discussion about the game.
@Baler to my understanding, the licensing for Xbox One games is made so that you cannot make a game exclusive to the One X, only that you can release an enhanced version of the game. It's a shame because it would have likely allowed for cross-gen gaming to be a reality for a little longer, but I guess if Xbox One owners have gotta buy a new box to play the newest games, Microsoft would rather have them buy an actual new-new system.
I'm really enjoying the trial so far and I think the visual effects and the turbo system are implemented well, especially when it comes to bridging the gap between real cars and arcade physics, but I also don't think there's much of anything here that warrants a £70 price tag. It's a steep asking price for any game, but especially one from a franchise that has had a pretty poor critical and commercial track record since the 2000s.
As others in the comments have noted, it's kind of rich for Google to complain about Game Pass streaming having performance issues on Chromium based Browsers (which, like, Edge is Chromium based now, that makes no sense!) When they've deliberately kneecapped their services on Firefox and other non-Chromium based Browsers for years and years now.
This buyout has been fascinating if only for how many monopolistic companies are complaining about a monopoly that isn't their own.
I only really use it for Disney+ on occasion because my TV doesn't have a D+ app, but even then I wouldn't say it's priority number 1. My phone is my usual go-to for watching, say, a random episode of The Simpsons or Futurama when I have nothing else to do.
I'm surprised the store is yet to implement a playtime feature similar to the one on Steam. The stat is obviously tracked, you can check it in the Xbox app and all. Not only would having a bunch of 1-star, 0.1 hour reviews make it easy to filter out less defined opinions, it would make the job of community moderation easier particularly in the case of a game like Calico that obviously isn't for everybody and a lot of people are gonna bounce off of.
That said, perhaps the easiest way to moderate things and to "fix" store reviews is for Xbox to actually give out community bans for the people who are using the feature to be homophobic, sexist, racist etc. and that might actually disincentivise the behaviour of that loud minority.
An RTS where you directly control a human unit and command mobs? I can't be the only person thinking of Pikmin, surely? Or, well, Overlord. That's a series of games that seemed to fly under a lot of radars.
Either way, I've really been getting into Dungeons lately and it really scratches an itch that a lot of other recent Diablo-style action RPGs haven't for me, so chances are good this will also turn out nicely.
I respect Fries and I don't necessarily think he's wrong - Xbox is a niche product in Japan and always has been. The OG Xbox and 360 sold a couple of million each over there and to my understanding that wasn't enough to make back Microsoft's spend on titles like Tales of Vesperia's timed exclusivity and the cost of porting FF XIII to Xbox.
But, it's still an important market sector, even if its importance is waning somewhat in comparison to the US and Europe. The infrastructure and the base are there, it would be silly to stop now.
I bought the Danganronpa trilogy on Switch a week before the first game came to Game Pass... And based on how basically every Spike Chunsoft game is coming to Game Pass, I feel like the rest will follow suit and whenever I get around to buying Shiren the Wanderer 5 on Switch that will also get the Game Pass treatment.
I love how basically every single game in this list could very easily be somebody’s #1 GOTY and I’d find no fault whatsoever in that opinion. Mine is Psychonauts 2, because that game was a LONG time coming and it’s amazing how well it turned out. Everything I wanted and expected it to be, and then some.
Not at all surprising, really, I feel like they’re buying time either for another round of patches or to reprint the covers to have a “download required” small print on them like the early print runs of the Spyro trilogy.
Rune Factory definitely isn’t for everybody, but as a fan of the original 3DS version who sadly missed out on the Switch port, seeing RF4 Special on Game Pass is exciting, and definitely saves me a purchase I was otherwise gonna make.
ITSP is one of those indie games I can remember getting a bit of buzz in the XBLA days so… might as well cross that one off the big list of stuff I missed out on because I was a broke student at the time.
2K holding on to the “£70 for new generation games!” Thing no matter how much people push back against it is just… I dunno. It must be working for them?
At this point, I’m sure it’s coming to at least Xbox, maybe Switch if they’re willing to undertake that sort of work, but like they say, it’s a timed exclusive, I can wait. I’ve got no shortage of other games to play.
@Serious_Snape GameCentral in general are an… odd column. It’s one of the few parts of the Metro I’d actually read, but I cannot really glean anything about what games the editor actually “likes” - he’s very unduly harsh on more or less everything.
@mousieone I think as more and more people get jabbed, more stores are following suit and sending more of their allocation to their physical locations; so that’s a big blow to scalpers, but undoubtedly a massive pain for people who still don’t feel safe going out.
At least now it’s becoming more of a matter of when you can buy one as opposed to “if” you can.
At least in the U.K., a lot of people I know have had much better luck actually getting consoles at physical stores rather than online. I hope the lucky ones who got their consoles are enjoying themselves in the world of next (or current I guess?) gen gaming.
@The_New_Butler absolutely, I think we’ll never truly get the full picture of how many studios Game Pass has actually saved in the long run; but from a consumer perspective, it also enables the creation of more risky, unique experiences that otherwise wouldn’t have seen the light of day.
@The_New_Butler you had me in the first half there, not gonna lie.
@Stnkygrngo I mean, most of the most glowing testimonials of Game Pass seem to come from indies and mid-tier (double A) studios. A lot of those indie developers are their own accountants by necessity, so whatever revenue they’re getting from it must be sufficient enough to keep the lights on etc.
Given that All-Stars Racing always seemed like the better game compared to Team Sonic Racing, I might as well double dip on it to save myself from having to dig out the Wii U in case I want to play it.
@Krzzystuff given that more or less everything else Double Fine has worked on and has publishing rights to is now on Game Pass, it’s only a matter of time, seeing as I’m sure it’s already a BC game.

Re: Another Five Games Will Leave Xbox Game Pass Soon (August 15)
Ruina leaving is a shame, I only really started playing it recently and I'm in love with it. I guess I can hope for a sale?
Re: Poll: Are You Happy With August 2022's Xbox Games With Gold?
I had fully intended to buy Calico on Switch but now I guess I don't "have" to unless I really like it!

So, wait, if Stadia works, surely XCloud would also work?
Which means, if you want to be incredibly redundant about it, you can now play Xbox games on your Xbox.
