People are talking like Rare did nothing with Everwild. They simply telling they are playing with gameplay ideas, not that they don't have any gameplay done yet. They have lots of gameplays already in the works with Everwild, they just working out what more could be included. That what they are saying.
@experTiger The SX graphics card is comparable to the RTX 2070 Super, but instead of use the graphics card for raytracing, they have a powerful dedicated chip to do only that. That means raytracing can be used to it fullest without compromise any resources from the graphic card. So yeah, it will support 4K 60fps with Raytracing.
Bright memories, the new Forza motorsport and the Gears 5 optimization are all confirmed to be running in 4K 60 fps on SX, all of them with raytracing. So it's already happening, no need to doubt that.
@Bobobiwan Yeah, I agree with you on that, raytracing should be there at launch. From what I know you are right about the build, the 1 minute trailer has a more recent build and gameplay is from january. If that is something to consider, gears 4 beta also had some low textures and other things on graphics that make it look not so great, but once the game was released it looked absolutely gorgeous. Let's wait and hope 343i pull the same magic trick as coallition until the release date.
@carlos82 they don't need to lower resolution to solve this. Thing is that raytracing wasn't available on the trailer. SX has a dedicated Raytracing chip to handle all the lightning, they don't need to drop resolution to achieve maximum fidelity. I think 343i will surprise us with a new high fidelity gameplay in 4K + Raytracing.
Kaze and the Wild Masks Cris Tales Skycadia Sail Forth Darkestville Castle Destroy All Humans
The ones I enjoyed most were Kaze (Day 1 Physical for me) Cris Tales (Weren't expecting anything, gameplay was simple. But graphics are beautiful and the story attracted me. I'll get it digitaly as soon as it releases) Destroy All Humans (It's really fun, I know that is a remake but I never played the original so it was all new for me. Amazing game)
Today there are 3 more games to try:
Scorge Bringer YesterMorrow Haven
There was also one I couldn't even play, Fractal Space, the game crashed twice just after the menu screen.
There are lots of people saying that game will be held back because of xbox one and I don't get it. Microsoft could just make games with improved graphics, AI, Physics and so on for the Series X. They don't need to stop on graphica. I don't get it why it would be held back, it makes no sense to think like that. Let's take a simple example of a game. FIFA. Legacy versions on 360, full version on xbox one. Same game, improved features and gameplay on newer platforms. Need for speed undercover for PS2 and PS3 were different. There is no reason to think Xbox One will held back Xbox Series X games.
@jongred Yakuza Kiwami (The first one) is a remake of the first game released in 2005. Yakuza 0 is a game from 2015, but, Yakuza 0 story passes before Yakuza Kiwami events, for that reason, I started with Yakuza 0 and now I'll go to Kiwami. But if you consider release dates of the original titles (not considering remastered version release date) it would be Yakuza Kiwami, Kiwami 2 and Yakuza 0.
My personal recomendation: Yakuza 0, Kiwami, Kiwami 2.
@Tharsman I think that point of "Develop with SSD in mind" is something that only full exclusive titles will have, since multiplatforms that intent to be released on PC will have to be optimized for regular HDDs, so I don't think this is somehing that Xbox One is holding back, but devices with HDD in general are, including PCs.
@MAC26 That's exactly what I think they're doing. Last time Phil talked about them he said something like "Peole in the studio (The Initiative) are challenging themselves to do new things (and old things) in new ways". So I assumed one was a new IP and the other a remake from a old franchise. Let's see.
@Menchi I don't think UWP is bad. It had performance issues in the past but it is as fast as regular win32 games nowadays. Also, most of the first-party Xbox One games are actually UWP. Xbox Play Anywhere is enabled by UWP too on the Microsoft Store. For those reasons I can't see UWP as a bad thing, I think it can improve, and Microsoft didn't moved away from it.
For independent developers is also a good thing sometimes, as they're most small teams, and have the possibility to code a single time and release on both, PC and Xbox is great.
@Luminous117 I honestly don't think it's an error at all. Microsoft kinda force this set of permissions for games made in their UWP technology to use achievments. There was nothing the studio could do about it. basically to get rid of this they will practically need to port the game using other technology. I didn't mind giving the permission tho, finished the game and did all the achievments. It's a really fun game.
@GunValkyrie I didn't saw anything on sony ps5 event that couldn't run on PS4.
Also, Microsoft didn't say Series X wouldn't have games of their own. They said that about first party developed only.
As they showed last xbox event, The medium is coming to Series X only, no Xbox One, as well as Scorn. Dirt 5 will be cross platform but will use all the power of Series X to bring a Next-gen experience with framerate up to 120fps.
There are lots of things to be excited about. And as far as I know cross-gen games never were hold back by inferior previous gen hardware. Just look at GTA V for PS3/360 and compare with PS4/Xbox One for example. Now imagine if you had bought GTA V on 360 and Once you bought xbox one you received the newer and improved version made to use all power of Xbox One for free.
This is what Microsoft is doing with Series X Cross-gen.
Quantum Break is amazing!! Incredible game from remedy, one of the best Microsoft IPs, hoping for QB2 to be announced for Series X in July. I think QB it's the most underrated, not so many people played the game, and in my opinion it is a masterpiece.
@Hobbesyall I disagree. While Inside Xbox announced real games coming to the system all that were announced on PS5 was a tech demo, made by epic showcasing technologies that will also be available on Series X and with more power available. Also, UE5 is coming late 2021 so first games using it should arrive only at early/mid 2022. That said, we still know nothing of the capability of the games that will be available at launch on PS5 besides God Fall and a couple of multiplatform games presented on inside xbox.
Don't get me wrong, the showcase was great, UE5 is amazing and all the techs presented in the video gives us a good glimpse of what's coming. But this is in no way comparable to an event showing real games to a console.
If that happen it will only show how Ubisoft doesn't care for optimization at all! I just can't understand how the game will run on Series X the same way it will probably run on Xbox One X. Also, Bright Memory Infinite, made by a single developer will run at 4K, 60fps and with RayTracing. There is nothing hardware wise, that stop AC Valhalla from achieve 60fps, the only reason is lack of interest from Ubisoft.
@ralphdibny That is fun to think. But I guess it's only lonely if he's playing Series X exclusive titles, otherwise he can play online with people on Xbox One. The part he can't share huge details on Series X with others might bother him a little though.
I'm excited with Series X release and I'm planning to get it until 6 months after launch.
@KelticDevil
I wasn't saying you told Ubisoft was a small studio. I was pointing that Microsoft couldn't treat the show as an Indie showcase (even if they were majority) because of Sega, Ubisoft and codemasters were there too.
Yes, it was released on last January in Japan only for PS4. It will come to PS4 on west too. But what I am still surprised is that there is no mention of a PS5 version in the west. It says: Series X, Xbox One, Steam and PS4. So probably its a Series X console exclusive in west, even if its timed.
Dirt is a good game. I don't really care about Yakuza. I've played Yakuza 0 and didn't like it.
@KelticDevil No I don't live in the US, I'm from south America, Brazil. Yakuza and Dirt aren't considered big franchises either, but the fact those games aren't 'considered big' here or in the US doesn't diminish the size and/or importance of the studios behind the franchises. The fact some people are upset because Ubisoft didn't present a proper AC gameplay doesn't make then a small studio either.
Most of the indie games presented had AAA big studios quality like was with Bright Memory, Scorn and The Medium to name a few.
The only issue with Microsoft was promise AC gameplay and not deliver it.
That honestly is the reason for the whole complain about Inside Xbox and it's more Ubisoft fault than MS.
@KelticDevil There were some indies on the event(including the best game presented yesterday in my opinion Bright Memory) but it's not exactly a indie showcase if you have ubisoft, codemasters and Sega on the event.
@TheNewButler Well, I'm the kind of person who doesn't care for reviews at all. I play the game or I watch some gameplay and see if I will like it myself.
But 80 sounds like a great score for me for a game review of a new genre in a popular franchise.
I also think Xbox has some underrated games like Quantum Break that for me is a true masterpiece (for me its the best game of the whole gen) from Remedy and Microsoft. Another great game released more recently was Gears 5, graphically stunning and gameplay is really fun and solid.
With their 15 studios now I think we will see a lot more of this High Quality games on Xbox. I have high hopes for The Initiative.
It happened with a couple times and I didn't notice a pattern why it happened. I never experienced this on reguler OS though, I've been using Insider OS so I guess those kind of things are expected.
Yes, it is one of the greatest games on Xbox. Hope Quantum Break 2 is released some day. I still need to play it a second time to make all different choices.
ps: The name of the main character is actually Jack Joyce.
@Heavyarms55 Sure that streaming is not currently the same as playing local, but xbox console streaming is working really great. Here in Brazil xCloud isn't available yet, but Console Streaming is, and runs flawlessly on 4G network. I've managed to play Gears 5 campaing just fine, with no issues with shooting or delays. I was really surprised that I could progress the story on my phone with no problem at all. Smooth in all 45 minutes of gameplay.
Well, a duracell AA battery lasts 10+ hours on Xbox controller. Dualshock 4 internal battety on the other hand barely hold full 4 hours. Switch Joycons battery are also terrible. So yes, I'm really happy Microsoft kept AA batteties as standard. Also, does people who complain know that rechargeable AA batteries exists?! And there is play and charge available too. I really can't understand people who says options are a bad thing.

AC Valhalla still day one for me despite lack of gameplay content.
