Microsoft is set to host a big first-party focused Xbox Series X event in July, and according to a trusted industry insider, the company will "absolutely bring the heat" for the Xbox 20/20 showcase.
The comments were made by Shinobi602, Communications Manager at Wushu Studios, who explained to fans on Resetera that the company has "a lot to show." He also later went on to suggest that third-party games will be present during the event, meaning it won't be solely focused on titles from Xbox Game Studios.
"They're absolutely going to bring the heat in July - without spoiling anything. There's a lot to show."
Just to recap, we already know that a number of Xbox Game Studios teams are planning to showcase first looks at new gameplay, insights from development teams being optimized for Xbox Series X, and brand-new game announcements at the event. 343 Industries' Halo Infinite will also be featured. Bring on July!
What games do you want to see at the Inside Xbox show next month? Let us know in the comments.

I can't wait this. The Sony reveal has just whet my appetite for what Microsoft are planning. So many new studios working on games!
I would love Fable, Perfect Dark, Hellblade near launch in 2020, Obsidian to have an RPG, Inxile to have an Isometric RPG, Forza 8 at launch and maybe, just maybe Banjo Kazooie!
I just hope it's early July and not late July...
Hmm, Halo of course. I’m hoping for an open world mission based Halo where the entire Halo ring is open to exploration from the start.
I want RPGs.
Fable. Blue Dragon. Lost Odyssey!
I would like at least one first party non-serious game. I mean, something charming:
Banjo-Kazoie, Conker, Blinx, Kameo... Or something new but existing IP adds a bit of excitement a new IP would not carry.
A composer reboot of Perfect Dark would be awesome. Not a continuation. Think something like Tomb Raider (still a FPS, but a from-zero saga... no pun intended.)
Heck I want. ReCore sequel. Sometimes series don’t sell millions of units on their first outing. Imagine if they had given up on Grand Theft Auto after the second entry!!!
As for third parties:
Far cry 6
Just Cause 5
How wild would it be if it was Xbox that revealed GTA6 or Final Fantasy 16?
Ninja Gaiden 4?
A Dino Crisis resurrection?
And the usual: Call of Duty, Battlefield, hopefully all with single player campaigns.
I so want to see this! Sucks we have to wait until July.
"Absolutely going to bring the heat"! Wow, words like that only get me even more hyped so I hope Microsoft actually does go all in and destroy that mediocre playstation showing. I'm not the biggest halo fan but I'm curious to see what's new since I'll probably give it a try being it'll be on game pass day 1. Looking forward to seeing what new IPs are coming. My unrealistic wishlist would include:
Killer instinct
Fight night
A licensed baseball game
Turok
Ninja gaiden
A more realistic wishlist would be tomb raider, perfect dark, more on hellblade, fifa 21, more the ascent, more on the medium, more on second extinction, more on bright memory infinite, more on valhalla. Then just whatever new games they have.
Also, I'd like some new backwards compatibility announcements. My dream wishlist for that would include:
NFL blitz
Mlb slugfest
Wcw vs nwo
Ready 2 rumble boxing
Goldeneye 007
Mk9
Man i can't wait for this! Xbox please kill this show!
@KelticDevil we do get the EA presentation next week. I’m hope we will see at least a few non-sports titles there.
I want to see new games. I don’t care if they are sequels to currently games or new IP’s but they have to be new and never seen before.
I’ll be disappointed if we see time wasted on current-gen games being upgraded. We already know about that feature, which admittedly is awesome, but the criticism of Microsoft has always been that they lack new exclusives.
Personally I’d love to see a new Fable and Perfect Dark, a couple of older IP’s like Blinx, Conker or Crimson Skies make comebacks, and of course I want Halo to be awesome.
A couple of third-party exclusive would also be awesome. Give me a new Splinter Cell or Jade Empire!!
To be honest outside of Horizon, Ratchet and Resi 8 there wasn't much shown on the PS5 that I'd play, probably the other Capcom game and Oddworld. So I'm very much looking forward to the Xbox show
Pretty solid bets:
Possible:
Unlikely but wanted:
Very Unlikely, but man I would lose it if:
Well, bring it on! I'm interested to see what they've been cooking up.
July has me sooo excited
I’m hoping for a new Fable and what Double Fine is up to
@Chimera_Police I'd love a new sunset overdrive but unfortunately sony bought that studio
@MAC26 yeah. I don’t think Insomniac would be able to make it. But do they own the IP and Assets? That’s why I put it as really unlikely
@MAC26 and just confirmed. The IP is now Sony’s. So like - extremely unlikely for that one.
@FraserG As a suggestion, you could post an entry about Xbox Game Studios and what do we all think that they will bring to Xbox. Some of them are very defined like 343 Industries, The Coalition or Ninja Theory but what can we expect from The Initiative? Will all studios deliver during the generation at least once? What would we like them to make? After PS5's presentation and before Microsoft's event what's on our minds? Just an idea.
@BlueOcean Great suggestion, thank you We'll definitely aim to do some Xbox Game Studios focused talking points in the lead up to July's event.
@pip_muzz Dude we need a 3D platformer like Banjo on Xbox... I would kill to see a new Conker or even Yooka Laylee 2! For me, Lucky's Tale was awful, and I don't think I've ever regretted a purchase. I just didn't like the type of gameplay it offered. But yeah, hopefully we see a new Fable. I would love some new RPGs! I reckon we will see some new IPs as well, which will be very exciting. Maybe a new singleplayer adventure like Tomb Raider would be cool.
I know I’m in the minority here but since there are only so many studios Working on projects we “don’t” know about, I would rather see the Initiative create a new AAAA ip rather than reboot Perfect Dark. I’m perfectly fine with another studio doing perfect dark but the Initiative needs to bring something new that can be put up there with Sony’s best eventually (once they get a game or so under their belt).
Nothing against Perfect Dark but Xbox already has created new studios to keep big franchises going (343 and Coalition). Some here might remember that Coalition used to be Black Tusk and was going to create new ips. Then MS made them bring back Gears, which has turned out pretty solid for sure, but I just don’t think Perfect Dark is worth wasting a new (potentially AAAA) studio on when they really need to just let them have a new creative idea
That’s even if we see what the Initiative is doing.
There are two things I'm expecting the most
1 - New IP from The Initiative
2 - Quantum Break 2 coming to Series X.
I doubt the second one will happen but I want to.
Can’t wait. It’s going to put Sony’s show to shame.
I really enjoyed Sony's show but after some thought it was a little lacklustre overall.
Microsoft have been running the show so far in the run up to next-gen, if they can really bring it in July they'll have absolutely killed it
Microsoft are in a great position now; they've got an opportunity to learn from Sony's presentation and really nail it.
I'm expecting lots of announcements, a nice chunk of Halo Infinite gameplay, and an ending that shows the Series X and Series S (confident it'll be called that) side-by-side.
Can't wait to see this, July hurry up!! I'm glad it includes third party as Microsoft need a strong showing of content to counter Sony's good showing.. Looking forward to seeing this..
Well it had better. Sony had what i thought was a pretty good but not great show. But that's all they needed to have, and obviously there's at least one more show planned (where they announce price, launch dates, and at least 1 or two more games). Microsoft needs to have a GREAT show. It can't just be Haloforzagears anymore. Those 15 studios they bought need to show off. We'll see.
@BANJO @pip_muzz @MasterkillerX
Yeah, Series X needs Banjo-Kazooie back. With all those serious projects like Halo, Gears, Hellblade... someone needs to take care of Banjo-Kazooie.
The two first games should be remade, no doubt. Nuts & Bolts is also a really decent sandbox game so why not remake it too? There are many studios that could do the job.
A new Banjo-Kazooie made by Rare and Playtonic (Playtonic as a hired studio) needs to be materialised. Or without Playtonic, I don't care. A new Viva Piñata game should be developed, too. Microsoft needs those high-quality and not serious franchises back! Rare needs to fill this gap.
The new boss of Rare Craig Duncan is daft and he says that fans don't want old franchises back but I still have faith. After all, Rare is helping with the development of Battletoads. I think that they should have shown more of their IPs love before making another new IP, Everwild, after Sea of Thieves.
An Xbox Game Studio could reboot Perfect Dark... but like @xMightyMatt14x says, The Initiative should compete with Naughty Dog and perhaps make AAA adventure games which is what Sony is doing best.
I believe it, I can't wait to see what's coming up for Xbox.
@BlueOcean Yes a new Banjo game would be amazing. Banjo Kazzoie Nuts & Bolts while ok just didn't cut it for me, a new Banjo in the same vein as the first two, with it bring called Banjo Threeie (of course) is what we need.
Hiring Playtonic would certainly be a wise move as many of the staff that worked on Kazzoie and Tooie now work there. It really would be great for it to happen....
While we wait a remaster of both Kazzoie and Tooie with all new graphics would fill the void.... 😀
Halo and Hellblade are obviously going to make a splash. Forza is also a given, which was conspicuous in its absence last year. I do wonder whether it'll be Motorsport 8 or will Microsoft turn Forza into a games as service, adding new tracks and cars each year and a new Horizon festival every other. Because can they feasibly release Motorsport 8, 9 and 10, or Horizon 5, 6 and 7 over the next generation as standalone games?
Playground's rumoured Fable is probably a safe bet too, but they need to show some big, expensive looking new IP from some of their new studios.
As for third party games, perhaps they could get the reveal of a next-gen port of Red Dead 2 to counter Sony's GTA V reveal? How about showing us Cyberpunk running on Series X, announcing it'll support Smart Delivery too. And WB Games Montreal's new Batman would be a big win as well. Sony have been really good at getting third parties onboard this gen, so Microsoft need to fight fire with fire and get the biggest names they can.
I'd also like to see some proper, meaty gameplay demoes, rather than simply roll trailer after trailer. Give us a good look at Halo, Forza and Fable in action, perhaps with some developer commentary too. And they should play to arguably their biggest strength and highlight how well backwards compatibility works. Show us Gears 5, Sea Of Thieves and the like running on Series X with all the new enhancements.
Finally, a price and release date would be welcome.
The stage is set for them to deliver. Hopefully they have upgraded their at home set ups beyond those dreadful webcams / mics they were using for Inside Xbox.
A nice mix of new and classic IP would be a winning combo; I don't want them to forget about their legacy titles, so fresh takes on known quantities would be ace.
And if they announce a Banjo game, please make it a platformer. If Nuts and Bolts gets a sequel I will crumble.
