@SegataSanshiro Well I mean in the event you just REALLY want to play it
I would say though unlike the GPU situation which is still pretty hellish in terms of trying to find one, at least here in Canada it feels like the next gen systems have become way easier to find compared to just 2 months ago by comparison
If you really want to play it, just get it on PC. Like until and unless the next gen versions come out and they're so much superior and bring the game up to par with what we expected on the console front, just get the game on PC. If anything I think they should've pulled a Witcher 2 and make it a timed PC exclusive so they could polish the game on last and next gen consoles
Apparently the higher end platforms are extremely pricey and expensive in those regions. The PS5 actually had to take some extra time to actually launch in that region due to some other guy in Delhi filing a PS5 trademark which probably further complicated things
The Series S looks like a good affordable way to get into next gen for people who are without the money to blow on better hardware
Alan Wake was also a Microsoft exclusive that Microsoft also had the publishing rights for until very recently and it definitely got a very positive reception
Not all Xbox-only games or Microsoft published ones are just met with divisiveness or ambivalence even if Sony and Nintendo got wider acclaim this generation
On paper it sounded like a pretty interesting transmedia thing but I honestly found the live action TV segments of the story so BORING that I wanted to put the game down multiple times. The acting felt super flat and there was Nissan product placement like every 3 seconds
If it was going to commit to the hybrid of a game and a TV/Netflix-style episodic presentation the least they could've done was make that half of the game interesting and not paper thin filler with uninteresting character development or interactions that only serves to get to the next gameplay section
Control was way better by comparison. Quantum Break is probably my least favorite Remedy game
I didn't even say Xbox didn't have games. I asked a hypothetical as in "if I was so biased towards Sony why aren't I even dumping on Xbox at this instance for not having games I'M not interested in"
That implies if I really was some hardcore Sony shill I'd also care about if you cared about Xbox more than I did, which I clearly don't. This whole mindset is just stupid. I literally hold no ill will towards people who genuinely have a preference for platforms, and that was the point I was making
I have a bias towards Sony but there's a difference between having a preference or literally being a fanboy that will defend them no matter what, which I definitely don't.
@Carck How did I dump on Xbox? Explain where when I explicitly said, "it's a bad look for Sony but not something that's an incredible cause for alarm yet" did I take a dump on Xbox
I didn't even mention Xbox ONCE until the end when I said I thought it'd be more damning if games Sony actually had full ownership over went multiplatform, which is undeniably true considering this only happened because of MLB. How did you get the impression I hated Xbox when I even followed up with saying Game Pass is a valuable service and I liked their emphasis on game preservation
The reach you just made is more appalling then the comment I made. It's honestly astounding you extrapolated that much out of a simple opinion that wasn't entirely positive or negative on a f*cking brick that plays video games
@Carck You always assume I'm defending Sony even when I say it's a bad look and I find that really funny/frustrating
For as much as you like to champion that people on this site aren't as toxic or more mature than people on PushSquare or NintendoLife for some reason you just love to call people like me out who even say a slither of something about Sony that isn't drenched in negativity
If I'm as "Sony Defense Force" as you say then why aren't I defending them for stuff like the PS Store closures, or taking a dump on Xbox for having a lack of games I'm interested in despite the fact I view Game Pass and their BC program as valuable propositions?
Neither Sony, nor Microsoft or Nintendo are 100% doing everything right, but I also don't have to be on the side of people who seriously think a baseball game that isn't even being published by Sony on a rival platform is going to just sink PlayStation into the ground
@TrueAssassin86x It's a bad look but honestly MLB The Show being on Xbox isn't nearly as consequential compared to something Sony has an amicable amount of control over
Like this mostly happened because of MLB, especially given they're publishing the game on Xbox. It'd be way more alarming if it was something Sony actually developed and wholly owned like God of War, or Horizon, or Ratchet & Clank. Hell I think Spider-Man on Xbox would probably result in an even greater ripple effect
@mousieone When I say consent I mean that Sony must've at least discussed this to an extent with MLB given they're still developing the game they're publishing so they had to have had a say in the matter before MLB signed off on it in Microsoft
I get the multiplatform thing is mostly MLB's doing but it's still a game developed at SIE and I doubt they didn't have any say in regards to how the game was released to players
@Carck Yeah but even if MLB owns the license and is publishing the game on Xbox systems it's still a Sony-developed game
Granted Sony probably has a larger stake in Spider-Man compared to MLB but it's still a Sony-made game which means they had to have been at least part of the discussion even if MLB had a larger say
Spider-Man is in an even grayer area considering unlike MLB now, Marvel hasn't self published any video games based on their characters and that would be presumably what would have to happen if the recent Spider-Man games were to go to other platforms outside PC. They don't have a publishing firm like supposedly the MLB does specifically for these games given they're self-publishing it on Xbox, and not only does SIE publish the new Spider-Man games now but they also own the developer who currently has the license which means they probably have a degree of control over the games shared with Marvel to an extent
Unlike MLB taking control over publishing, Marvel just licenses out its characters to other publishers and developers meaning they have a pretty hands off approach in the end outside maybe contributing some of their writing talent to games like what happened with Deadpool, some of the Activision Spider-Man games and Spider-Man PS4/Miles Morales
@Jaxx420 Considering it's a Sony developed game and since it's still being published by them on PlayStation consoles I imagine they probably had to also be consented by MLB to even let this happen
I doubt MLB put a Sony first party game on Xbox Game Pass behind their backs. That'd be like if Marvel struck a deal with Xbox to put Spider-Man PS4 on Xbox One despite the fact it's developed by a studio Sony themselves own and is published by them on their consoles
@SegataSanshiro If All Stars 2 happens they better step their game up on that roster
The fact that Smash has Snake, Cloud, Sephiroth and now Joker while PS All Stars got Raiden and DmC Dante instead of classic Dante is really telling on how much more care Smash puts into its roster choices even with characters that are ironically more closely affiliated with PlayStation
@Tharsman Isn't there still that secret San Diego studio that Sony's been recruiting talent for over the last 1-2 years that's supposedly working on something major for first party kind of like what the Initiative is doing for Xbox
Unless that's like a seperate entity entirely there's still things going on over there outside of just The Show
@Carck I have to imagine they still get some sort of profit out of this considering it's being worked on by a studio Sony themselves own even if they're not publishing it on Xbox supposedly
Otherwise I don't think they would slap the PlayStation Studios logo on that box art since that denotes games that are directly published or developed by them this generation
Either way Sony/MLB getting this on Game Pass only ensures the game is going to get a wider audience. It's a nice little sampling of PlayStation's content for those who don't own PlayStations without immediately spoon-feeding them the big noteworthy stuff
I've never played any of the Show games since I'm not into sports titles but holy sh*t is the turnout for this hilarious
Honestly it's a win for both Sony and Microsoft if anything since I bet Sony still gets a cut of the revenue from this game given it's first party while Game Pass just continues to be more valuable
He did do his best to at least try and turn the Xbox One around after Mattrick royally screwed their entire reputation even dating back to the later years of the 360. Because of him the Xbox is even getting more Japanese content in general and a larger first party portfolio. I'm looking forward to how he handles running the businesss for a full console generation
How about also not just showing PC footage and passing it off as console gameplay as well
Not only was the game announced way too early but they built up so many promises that never came to fruition in regards to graphical fidelity or even just in game features
@Carck Where did I imply I was defending them? I'm just as pissed off about this as other people are? Some of us aren't blind shills for a single company, especially since we own more than one platform. Now you're totally strawmanning
I literally stated multiple times I hope the Store shutting down meant they were working on a solution of their own because if they weren't then thousands of games just got locked up and probably never to be available again
@mousieone The Octopath one is a weak as hell example considering it was just a speculative post about whether the game would come to more platforms since the game was already on PC and Xbox when it was initially advertised as just a Switch exclusive
I will admit though NL have done more than a few articles about third party controllers resembling the Joy Con but it's not limited to Xbox either
@papahefe I'm a Sony person. I love backwards compatibility, but I also don't feel the need to pick up an Xbox because there are just very few of those older titles I care about
When some of us say Sony should try their hand at the same thing it's because they make titles that appeal to us. I don't really care about franchises like Forza, or Gears, or Halo. The only Xbox exclusives that interested me also came out day and date on PC, and now that they've announced BC is being added to xCloud I probably have even less of a reason to invest in a console that would be great for that kind of stuff, which is why I'm still going with PS5 this generation alongside my Switch and PC
I'd personally rather that PlayStation set up a similar program because they've done it before and they just have more legacy content I actually want to play
@Alan_Payne Honestly this could just be me but I've legit never seen either PushSquare or NintendoLife do articles that call out the other console manufacturers
PureXbox on the other hand have steadily been increasing the amount of times they have to bring PlayStation into the discussion strictly based off how they title articles
I'm not saying other stuff like that doesn't exist but it seems super prevalent here. If you looked on PushSquare though tons of people over there are likewise pretty unhappy about this turn of events so it's not a thing that only Xbox people are dragging Sony into the mud for either. It's especially appalling how Sony handled the Vita Store's closure given there were developers making Vita games when the closure was announced and they had to subsequently cancel their projects
The sad thing is Sony used to take BC ironically even more seriously than Microsoft did at their peak with that initiative
Early PS3's pre-Slim could play practically the entire library of PlayStation games excluding PSP on one console, PSP could play PS1 games, and Vita could play PS1 and PSP in addition to Sony releasing remasters of PS2 games
If Sony actually started some sort of BC program to the breadth Microsoft is doing right now encompassing all their home consoles and maybe even their handhelds, I'd probably be all over that
Surely them shutting down these stores, especially the Vita one this early has to mean they're working on some sort of solution
@everynowandben Yeah Steam Link basically streams what's already being displayed while Steam is active on your PC to your TV. For that you actually need Steam but for GeForce Now it's more like xCloud but specifically for PC games
It looks like a Dreamcast game that was hastily ported to PS2 last minute. That's also not a compliment to the developers adhering to the very obvious influences from the Nights games
@blinx01 Blue Dragon was more mixed but I remember Lost Odyssey and especially The Last Story doing pretty well both critically and commercially, especially the former for being an Xbox-exclusive JRPG
@blinx01 Actually I believe all of those games were actually on the service at one point but unlike Game Pass even the first party content goes on rotation after a few months
I think it would be way more sufficient if the first party stuff just stayed accessible on the service for good but I guess they think it could potentially cut into their hardware sales since Now is also on PC and mobile to my knowledge
@Sol4ris Honestly I don't think PS Now was ever meant to be in direct competition with Game Pass
I always thought that PS Plus Collection thing on PS5 was supposed to be what they used as an answer to Game Pass' value proposition, since it actually functions pretty similarly. PS Now was more of a solution for the fact the PS4 wasn't backwards compatible with past PlayStation consoles since that was one thing the PS4 was under scrutiny for early on, but PS Plus Collection similarly curates a bunch of highlighted PS4 games, tied to a subscription that you get as a perk for subbing to that service just like Game Pass but right now at a smaller scale
@UltimateOtaku91 PS Now is still pretty rough but I guess Sony never really sought to put effort into making it a valuable proposition since enough people buy their consoles to begin with that they were more than likely going to buy the games outright rather than relying on a streamed version of them in the case of PS4 stuff, which comprises a good chunk of the library
@GateCrasherUK Well to be fair even though Game Pass didn't really save the Xbox One and is doing way better on the Series X, at least during that time they also had a PC alternative since they were attempting to integrate that into their ecosystem as well so it still made enough money to keep the service from being a complete failure
I just don't really think Now and Game Pass should really be compared because they don't really serve the same purpose. This article just sounds like a cheap attempt to start console wars in the comments
I always thought Game Pass was better compared to something like Stadia without the extra paywall for games. This article also conveniently forgot PS Now actually predates Game Pass by like...a little over 3 years? The only thing they really have in common is that their games are set on rotation and that's it
@Grumblevolcano I have a strong suspicion Intergrade is actually launching on Xbox and PC same day but they obviously could only talk about PS5 since it's still a few weeks out from when the PlayStation exclusivity agreement dissolves and the game is allowed to go to other platforms
I still want that Canadian Denim controller to actually happen
I've been intending to get a new-gen Xbox controller for my PC but I'm literally holding off just because I want the Canadian Denim one to actually become a commercially available product

Re: IO Interactive's 007 Game Will Usher In An 'Original James Bond For The Gaming Industry'
@Dezzy I don't think they're saying it'll be a customizable Bond
They're probably alluding to the fact they've created their own version of the character specific to this game much like Insomniac did with Spider-Man
Re: Cyberpunk 2077 'Continues To Disappoint' On Xbox One, Reveals Patch 1.2 Analysis

Re: IO Interactive's 007 Game Will Usher In An 'Original James Bond For The Gaming Industry'
If Sunset Overdrive was what convinced me Insomniac could make a really good Spider-Man game
the recent Hitman games are what have convinced me the Bond license is in the right hands.

@Medic_Alert I get where you're coming from, especially on the point about game preservation but what does that have to do with Cyberpunk lol
Re: Cyberpunk 2077 'Continues To Disappoint' On Xbox One, Reveals Patch 1.2 Analysis
@JayJ Honestly he ain't actually wrong lol
Cyberpunk on Stadia from what I've seen outperforms like every console version of the game lol
It only falls short of the PC version
Re: E3 Returns This June With A Digital Only Event, Xbox Will Be In Attendance
@Link41x Technically they never stopped attending E3
They still had a presence at the show floor, hosted events within E3 like the Smash Invitationals and they had Treehouse Live
It's just that their in person conferences have been replaced by Nintendo Directs
Re: E3 Returns This June With A Digital Only Event, Xbox Will Be In Attendance
Damn this one's going to be SMALL
Sony, Square Enix, EA, Activision/Blizzard, SEGA and Bandai Namco all backed out of this.

Re: PlayStation Now Offers $1 Month Trial To Rival Xbox Game Pass
@GateCrasherUK Well to be fair even though Game Pass didn't really save the Xbox One and is doing way better on the Series X, at least during that time they also had a PC alternative since they were attempting to integrate that into their ecosystem as well so it still made enough money to keep the service from being a complete failure
I just don't really think Now and Game Pass should really be compared because they don't really serve the same purpose. This article just sounds like a cheap attempt to start console wars in the comments
Re: PlayStation Now Offers $1 Month Trial To Rival Xbox Game Pass
Are they really warranting a comparison though
I always thought Game Pass was better compared to something like Stadia without the extra paywall for games. This article also conveniently forgot PS Now actually predates Game Pass by like...a little over 3 years? The only thing they really have in common is that their games are set on rotation and that's it
Re: Rumour: Square Enix Has Another Batch Of Games Coming To Xbox Game Pass
@Snake_V5 It's probably coming to Xbox because it only has a timed exclusivity period with PlayStation consoles
I can't imagine it'll only be on PlayStation and PC, especially since Xbox only getting the original FFVII and not Remake would be pretty weird
Re: Rumour: Square Enix Has Another Batch Of Games Coming To Xbox Game Pass
@Grumblevolcano I have a strong suspicion Intergrade is actually launching on Xbox and PC same day but they obviously could only talk about PS5 since it's still a few weeks out from when the PlayStation exclusivity agreement dissolves and the game is allowed to go to other platforms
Re: Microsoft Reportedly In 'Exclusive, Advanced Talks' To Acquire Discord
I genuinely wonder what Discord has to offer them considering they're paying more for them than they did for ZeniMax
Re: Microsoft Unveils Two Brand-New Xbox Series X Controllers
I still want that Canadian Denim controller to actually happen
I've been intending to get a new-gen Xbox controller for my PC but I'm literally holding off just because I want the Canadian Denim one to actually become a commercially available product
