We've got a notable anniversary to tell you about today in the form of Remedy Entertainment's Xbox (console) exclusive Quantum Break, which officially launched five years ago for Xbox One on April 5, 2016. Where does the time go?!
We haven't seen too many posts on social media acknowledging the anniversary as of yet, but Quantum Break producer Lennie Hakola did take to Twitter to enthuse how the game will "always be very dear to me."

If you've never played it, Quantum Break is a creative sci-fi third-person shooter focused around time manipulation powers, starring Hollywood actors Shawn Ashmore, Dominic Monaghan and others, and part of its plot is even located within a TV show which you can watch as you play through the game.
It's one of those games that often gets brought up when talking about hidden gems and examples of great games from the early Xbox One era, so if you're keen on giving it a try, you can download it right now with Xbox Game Pass.

I thought it was a pretty cool games in many ways but by the time got to the end I was just really over it. The story could have been better and the decisions don't really play out that well, but the action was pretty fun.
Personally enjoyed this more than Control.
Just think it got overlooked due to the whole Xbox One TV push.
@blinx01 Yep same I couldn't get into Control but QB was alot better imo.
I really enjoyed Quantum Break. It just hit all the right notes for me.
It was odd that the FMV sequences in between chapters didn't play correctly when streamed (despite having a perfectly capable internet connection to stream HD content), so I was forced to download the gigantic FMV DLC. Otherwise, that was my only real issue with the game.
I would recommend giving it a whirl - especially if you have an Xbox One X or Series X.
I think its actually a very underrated game I bet if this had come out on PlayStation it would have found its audience better as alot more PlayStation gamers are into single player story driven games. The big problem was the tv show after each chapter really interrupting the gameplay when you just wanted to play the next chapter
I really need to finish this. Was playing it in my One X right before getting Series X and haven't gone back yet.
QB is a great game, but in my opinion, Control is vastly superior.
@everynowandben I love Control. When I get done with my current Witcher 3 play through I'm looking forward to checking out the next gen updates for Control as well as the DLC.
I loved it. The game itself was great and the story very compelling. The TV show portion could have been done a bit better tough. I also enjoyed it a bit more than control.
I also enjoyed Quantum break alot more than control
On paper it sounded like a pretty interesting transmedia thing but I honestly found the live action TV segments of the story so BORING that I wanted to put the game down multiple times. The acting felt super flat and there was Nissan product placement like every 3 seconds
If it was going to commit to the hybrid of a game and a TV/Netflix-style episodic presentation the least they could've done was make that half of the game interesting and not paper thin filler with uninteresting character development or interactions that only serves to get to the next gameplay section
Control was way better by comparison. Quantum Break is probably my least favorite Remedy game
This game was a lot of fun and the power ups were pretty cool. Wish there was more enemy variety or some environmental puzzles. I thought the tv show after each chapter did a great job breaking up the action and really letting the players see the story from other points of views. Wish more games went this route. I know the story isn’t for everyone but I thought it was an interesting enough story
It was a good game to play in the evenings i played a chapter then watched an episode of the tv show before going to bed. then did that each evening of the week.
The real shame of QB was the live action parts. If they had simply left them out it was a really good game. I understand that they were trying something new, which is great, but they just stopped the flow of the game.
Quantum Break is Remedy's masterpiece, not Control. Control is like a lame excuse to re-use a metric ton of assets from Quantum Break and not even bother with a cohesive plot.
One of the craziest thing about Quantum Break is that even though it came out 5 years ago, you can really tell Remedy has the budge they deserved versus their more recent release, Control.
Raytracing notwithstanding, Quantum Break just does everything better. Better motion capture, more detailed world, tighter shooting, better acting. Just shame it never found the audience it deserved. Also a missed opportunity for Miscorosoft to scoop remedy up.
I loved this game. I might go back and play it all over again.
Great. First prey, now this game. Good thing I have gamepass😉
I never understood why control got so much love and QB didn't...easily on par with each other
@StylesT Quantum Break was a Microsoft exclusive. Control wasn't. That's why. That has pretty much been how Remedy games have always been.
@InterceptorAlpha Not at all true
Alan Wake was also a Microsoft exclusive that Microsoft also had the publishing rights for until very recently and it definitely got a very positive reception
Not all Xbox-only games or Microsoft published ones are just met with divisiveness or ambivalence even if Sony and Nintendo got wider acclaim this generation
Never played it,as is the case with most games for me. I need a staycation where the family goes away so I can knock out a few titles. This looks pretty interesting so I'll have to add it to the play later list.
@StylesT
I think because it was tied to a failing Xbox One console, plus had the live action sections that were heavily linked to trying to push the console as a TV device rather than a dedicated console.
For me, it's much better than Control, although I did enjoy that as well.
I just want a sequel
I definitely enjoyed QB more than Control (just finished Control dlc last night). I think I just prefer the more varied environments and I’m a sucker for time travel stories. That said, the final boss in QB sucked.
@armondo36 I didn’t mind them too much. I just embraced the quirkiness and used it for a beer and snack break every time an episode popped up.
Downloaded and not started...
Nothing special from my point of view. It's a good game, but next to Max Payne, Alan Wake and Control, Quantum Break is easily the most forgettable of the bunch.
