Re: Review: Active Soccer 2 DX (Xbox One)

@frito With respect - "I'm not sure why the reviewer is making such a picky comment about offsides, not really a game breaker that one"

Maybe not a game breaker, but it's still a pretty glaring oversight in a game that claims to simulate football, in an arcade or "old-school" manner or not. It isn't "picky" to state that the game has issues with actually getting the rules of the sport right.

Re: Xbox Spring Sale to Return on March 20th

SuperKMx

@Utena-mobile Shantae's on offer at the moment on preorder I think - 25% off. I don't think it'll get any lower than that for a while.

Don't know about Korra, though. That could see a price cut, for sure.

Re: Microsoft Studios Reshuffle Continues as Six Teams Disappear

SuperKMx

@Utena-mobile I would imagine because (aside from Lionhead and Press Play, which they released a statement about) that these are largely internal moves. It's the same restructuring that happens day to day at a lot of businesses around the world.

I'm guessing they didn't expect people to notice.

Re: Editor's Opinion: The Logically Fallacious 32X Comparison

SuperKMx

@stylon The problem is that the people who were looking forward to it were already invested in the Fable franchise, and it was only some of them. A lot of Fable fans basically said "Nope...that isn't Fable...that's some thing that you're going to eventually put a bunch of microtransactions into" and paid it no more mind.

I would have been massively surprised if it had done decent numbers in the long run. Which is a shame, as it could have worked out to be a decent concept.

Re: Editor's Opinion: The Logically Fallacious 32X Comparison

SuperKMx

@stylon No I'm not. Not at all. I'd be more worried if they carried on throwing millions at a game that was getting very, very lukewarm responses from beta testers and that fans of the franchise were saying wasn't particularly worthy of the Fable name, in all honesty.

It's sad that Lionhead have closed, but I'd have been very surprised if Legends had made back its development costs.

Re: Poll: Pure Xbox 2016 Reader Survey

SuperKMx

@BAMozzy "I also spend time on PushSquare and whilst that does feel a bit more bias in its reporting, I do feel it has a lot more activity - not just from the community." - It has about 10x our traffic

"I hope you don't feel I was being critical" - Not at all! That's the point of the poll/article

Re: Poll: Pure Xbox 2016 Reader Survey

SuperKMx

@BAMozzy All duly noted, but I will say that "Overall I feel this site has 'dropped' in community participation over the last 6months - the forums rarely have anything 'new', there are rarely any 'comments' on articles etc." is incorrect.

The forums, sure thing. Agreed. People weren't really interacting in the forums in any great number, so they've died off as I advised the team to stop trying to push the forums. I barely check them myself now, since even when we did things like forum giveaways, people would be loathe to enter. We'll do something with them in the future, I'm sure.

As for comments, though, we've had record comments numbers in the last six months. I track them week-to-week and they're definitely up. The issue for us is that while you may like to read the hypothetical AAA pre-order bonus story on this site, those stories garner less than a tenth of the traffic that a new indie game announcement will do, even if those viewers aren't commenting. I guess we just need to strike a balance as best we can, given that we don't have a team large enough to cover everything and be everything to all people at this point.

Re: Poll: Pure Xbox 2016 Reader Survey

SuperKMx

Just to clarify on the Indie vs AAA question, it probably wasn't worded all that well. The question was more regarding general coverage, as opposed strictly to reviews.

The way I've seen it so far, is that we are only a small team with so much time in the day, so it has made more sense for us (so far) to cover games that haven't been covered anywhere else. In a fair few cases, we're the first in the world to even make mention of them!

That's as opposed to us writing the 398th article to be published about pre-order bonuses for an AAA title, that nobody would read because they're already following the game's official Facebook and Twitter accounts, already have the updates coming in to their Xbox Activity Feed, and potentially could even read about by going to their local newspaper's website.

But, all points duly noted and thank you all for your comments so far. Very much appreciated.

For reviews, we'll be aiming to cover more of the big games anyway where we can.

Re: Is Microsoft Looking To Break The Console Cycle?

SuperKMx

@ZeD I get what you're saying, but the problem is that you aren't "missing out on something that you've paid for." You're just not getting something that you haven't paid for.

I can't afford to go and buy an 80" LED TV. That doesn't mean that I sit here saying that I'm missing out on what I paid for while using the 55" model from the same brand.

Re: Editor's Opinion: Give Me A Quantum Break

SuperKMx

@GrumpyGamr "I am just one example but I am not the only one that has decided not to buy the Xbox One game and instead buy the PC game. So I myself represent 1 loss sale"

With respect, no you don't. You aren't buying it on Xbox One, but you're buying it on PC. Microsoft is still the publisher on both platforms. Therefore, that's not a lost sale in any way. That's actually the system and reason for the dual release working as it should. You have the choice and are purchasing the version that suits you best.

Re: Rocket League Release Date Finally Confirmed for Xbox One

SuperKMx

@Tasuki It's to do with quite a few things. One of the main reasons a developer informed me of was the data protection laws in certain regions. Microsoft can't take your username (and other data that's needed for a game) on Xbox Live and send it over to PSN and vice versa, without being in violation of a few laws. However, they can do Microsoft->PC or Sony->PC since they can do this whilst keeping the data within their network as Xbox Live and PSN's architecture is PC-based (more or less.)

I think games like The Golf Club got around this by randomly assigning usernames to people. So if you upload a course on the PS4 version as "Ken Barnes" for example, it'll show as "Course Created by Ken Barnes" on the PS4 edition, but if you download it for the Xbox One version of the game, it's the same course, but it shows as "Course Created by User99238382" or something. Obviously, that's a lot less data than a "live" game like Rocket League would require.
