Microsoft Teases "April Blockbusters" for Games With Gold

Microsoft have fired out a little tweetaroonie yesterday that not only confirms that Lords of the Fallen and Supreme Commander 2 have been added to the Games With Gold program (as announced last month) but that they could be throwing a couple of haymakers when it comes to April's titles.

"Next up: April blockbusters." could mean absolutely anything of course. If you read it as "games that were released in April" then you could be looking at Kinect Sports Rivals, Trials Fusion, Child of Light, or State of Decay: Year One Survival Editiion on Xbox One. On Xbox 360, Top Spin 2, Rumble Roses XX, Grand Theft Auto IV (yeah, right), Godfather II, Nier, Virtua Tennis 4, Injustice: Gods Among Us, and Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen could all be on the cards.

We'd lay good odds that it won't be Rumble Roses XX.

Indeed, what it's more likely to mean is that April's Games With Gold will feature some blockbusters. So, it could be time to start up those rumours about Ryse: Son of Rome and Dead Rising 3 again. Or how about Forza Motorsport 5? Absolutely nothing would surprise us at this point.

Dark Souls II: The Scholar of the First Sin was released on April, 1. Could be great.

Child of Light has already been offered (last April) so doubt this will be offered again. State of Decay is hardly a blockbuster and Kinect games would only suit a small number of the community that has a Kinect. Mortal Kombat X was also released last April but don't know if that would impact on Killer Instinct.

I would think that April's will yet again be 2 AAA titles for each platform but unlike this month, these games will probably be more 'high profile' on XB1. Over the last 6 months, the XB1 specific offerings has given us more than just 'indies' - not saying ALL indies are bad etc. but we have been seeing more AAA's. I could see Ori: Definitive being offered next month.

People still talk about DR3, Ryse and Forza 5 - launch titles. We have had AC4 so its possible. We have also had TR:Definitive and Thief too. I could see Watchdogs (although I believe that had ties to PS on release) coming or maybe Sleeping Dogs: Definitive too. Maybe Forza Horizon 2 and Forza Horizon on XB360? Maybe Sunset Overdrive too or Gears of War: Ultimate in time for people to get into the Beta?? Dark Souls 2 in time for Dark Souls 3??

Blockbusters from the XB360 era could be great because of the Backwards Compatibility. I wonder if we will see Red Dead Redemption? Alan Wake with QB out soon?, Crackdown with news expected about the new Crackdown

Some games make sense others will really annoy people i mean Forza 5 didn't everyone already buy that on release as well as Ryse and Dead Rising 3. I bought an Xbox One just to play Dead Rising 3.

@Beardedgooslaps If you check out Reddit and the response to every single time they announce the following month's GwG offerings, I'd say most people didn't buy Ryse. It's constantly being asked for.
