Never heard of the franchise before but as this got me interested I downloaded Mudrunner via PS Now and this is definitely something I didn't know I needed this much! Like you said @ThanosReXXX, it's like been little again and it makes for an extremely relaxing game.
@Incarna I agree, no way this is going to be a step comparable to the one from 2D to 3D. It's probably going to be a bigger one than the one of this generation though, although that's not much to brag about I suppose.
@BlueOcean I don't buy into a lot of rumours, but this one actually seems pretty well-founded because of all the different (and quite reputable) sources reporting on it. Other than Breath of the Wild 2 and Metroid Prime 3, which are quite some time away I think, Nintendo doesn't really have anything big in the pipeline as far as I know, so I guess it would be a relative easy way for them to fill up the gaps and earn some dosh.
I've been reading the new Edge this morning and one of the games that peaked my interest was Lonely Mountains Downhill, which I must just download a bit later. Other than that I'll be playing some Blazing Chrome and Uncharted 3.
@Richnj Exactly. I think quite a few developers will try to make their games look spectacular on the series X in 4K, but won't really take a solid high framerate into account, as they probably are of the opinion that graphics are more appealing to the masses than fps.
@gingataisen I for one would be delighted if everything from next gen would run at 60 fps, but if I remember correctly, the same thing was being said at the start of this generation. Also, I don't think we've seen the end of remasters at all; I think there are already a few announced! A new 60 fps gen without too many remasters sounds excellent, but I'm not holding my breath
Some sensible stuff being said in this topic, I like it! With regards to fanboy behaviour; what I really don't get about it is the fact that the only person one deceives is oneself. Why people opt for a console that hasn't got the most interesting features or games for you, but does have the correct multinational producing it, is a notion that simple doesn't make sense for me.
@BlueOcean I suppose it was a fad in the sense that the motion controls are mostly a thing of the past, but the great library of games sure isn't. Using less-powered hardware isn't really that detrimental either I'd say; I'm currently enjoying my Switch just as much, if not more, than my ps4 (although it's a shame the Wii is SD like you said).
@KelticDevil Calling the Wii a gimmick console and a fad is a bit harsh I'd say. Sure, there was loads of shovelware for it but it also boasts some superb games like Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Zelda Twilight Princess, DKC Returns, Metroid Prime 3 among others, and it had a fantastic Virtual Console as well.
@gingataisen Potatoe Potaatoe You're right of course, I didn't mean it that literal, I just find it typical that you can find praising comments about either console now claiming it's so much faster or better or whatever than the other, depending on whom you listen to. I'd rather wait on a proper report when there's something to show for.
@SuperNintendoMii To be honest the Xbox naming isn't the most obvious in the industry anyway. It probably helps that it doesn't really cater to casuals in the sense that the Wii did, but even I get a bit discombobulated about it sometimes
@Incarna Would you expect anything else from IGN? While I quite liked the Witcher for its world-buildong, the gameplay was awful, so I think I'll be skipping Cyberpunk.
@Jslade Haven't played 4 and 5 as I don't have an xbox one! Good to hear that though, I'll definitely pick them up when/if I get my hands on a series X.
@Jslade It still looks pretty good indeed! Considering it's been 14 years, the progress in the graphics department has been quite lacklustre actually, especially when you compare Gears with something made in 1992! Gameplay-wise I think it doesn't hold up as well though, it's a bit repetitive. The toxic masculinity and shakey cam are less impressive too nowadays I'd say.
I've just finished Control, which was a lot of fun. Got my old 360 hooked up the telly again and will be playing the first Gears of War for the first time in ages.
One of the main reasons why I'm considering a Series X is the backwards compatibility. I haven't had an Xbox One, but would also enjoy playing my 360 and original games again.
Doesn't Microsoft own the rights to Banjo Kazooie nowadays? Wouldn't it be an idea to get all the Ninty fans who are buying a second console on board by making a sequel?
@SnesSwitch No analogue triggers though! A real shame im my opinion, other than that it is great. I remember thinking there must be something wrong when I just got it, as I was used to my ps4 battery life and the Pro didn't seem to need charging whatsoever
I've missed out on the Xbox One, but if I do get an xbox series x at launch (which seems quite likely atm), I'm going to pick up Forza Horizon 4 straight away!
I like how understated the Xbox controller is compared to the shouty PS5 controller. I prefer the symmetrical layout of the Dualshock though, as I play quite a few retro games.

I'm still excited though
Re: LinkedIn Profile Reveals More About The Initiative's Secret Project
Never really got why Perfect Dark was so popular, other than that it was a Rare game. Give me a call when they're talking about a Viva Pinata reboot!

Always chuffed to find a game at #1 that isn't Fifa or Call of Duty.
Re: Xbox Lockhart Will Be "Surprisingly Small In Volume", Suggests Insider
@BlueOcean Supposedly we're getting quite a few Mario remasters this year on the Switch!

The question obviously is: will it play Metroid Prime?

@BrilliantBill Exactly. You can read exact the same quotes from different people on pushsquare, but with "xbox series x" and "ps5" switched.

Re: Halo Co-Creator Explains The Importance Of Xbox Series X And PS5's SSDs
The headline for this article is quite different on pushsquare for some reason 😅 "Halo Co-Creator Hyped About PS5's Super-Fast SSD Technology"
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (18th April)
@Mamabear Haven't played the DLC, but it wouldn't surprise be if I did that at some point, which is quite rare for me.
Re: Poll: What's Your Favourite Halo Game Released To Date?
Out of the ones I've played it's got to be Halo: ODST for me, I just loved the more muted setting.

There's an option for a crossover car or pickup, but not for hatchback?! Bit odd!
Re: Pick One: Which Of These Xbox Classics Would You Remaster?
Never played the Bond and Simpson games and wouldn't play a remaster either, so my vote goes to the wonderful Timesplitters.
Re: Developers Were Nervous About Xbox Backwards Compatibility, Admits Microsoft Exec
One of the main reasons why I'm considering a Series X is the backwards compatibility. I haven't had an Xbox One, but would also enjoy playing my 360 and original games again.
Re: Talking Point: What Was Your First Xbox Console And Game?
I had the original Xbox. Can't remember my first game, but some of the first were Ninja Gaiden, Doom 3 and Conker's Bad Fur Day I think.
Re: The ESRB Is Adding A New Label For In-Game Purchases Such As Loot Boxes
I'd rate those "A" for "Avoid".
Re: Rumour: Is A New Perfect Dark In The Works For Xbox Series X?
@BlueOcean A new Viva Pinata would be a massive incentive for me to buy a series X!

Re: Resident Evil 4 Is Reportedly Getting A Remake, Planned To Release In 2022
Let's remake a game that doesn't need a remake whatsoever!
Re: Microsoft Exec On PS5 — "I Think We're Going To Have A Better Console"
That's not right! I've personally read on pushsquare that ps5 is going to be the better console
I like the way Microsoft is approaching things now, it harkens back to the 360 days.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 11th)
I've started Control on the ps4 and bar some technical hiccups and a bollocks script I'm quite enjoying it.
Re: Indie Game MicroMan Has Been Announced For Xbox Series X
Sounds a lot like an adaptation of The Shrinking Man. Could be interesting!
Re: Industry Insider Hints At The Type Of Games Coming To Xbox Series X
More reboots?! I was hoping we would be able to leave that behind with the current gen.
Re: Video: This Trailer For Windbound Has Serious Breath Of The Wild Vibes
Breath of the Wild? Don't you mean the Wind Waker? Looks interesting regardless, so will keep this on the radar!
Re: Poll: Which Controller Do You Prefer? Xbox Series X Or PS5?
@SnesSwitch No analogue triggers though! A real shame im my opinion, other than that it is great. I remember thinking there must be something wrong when I just got it, as I was used to my ps4 battery life and the Pro didn't seem to need charging whatsoever
Re: Guide: Best Xbox One Racing Games
I've missed out on the Xbox One, but if I do get an xbox series x at launch (which seems quite likely atm), I'm going to pick up Forza Horizon 4 straight away!
Re: Poll: Which Controller Do You Prefer? Xbox Series X Or PS5?
@FullbringIchigo Exactemundo! You only need to say one of those two things though, you can't nitpick on both controllers.
Re: Poll: Which Controller Do You Prefer? Xbox Series X Or PS5?
@FullbringIchigo No no, you're not getting it; you need to pick one side and nitpick on aspects of the other controller
Re: Poll: Which Controller Do You Prefer? Xbox Series X Or PS5?
I like how understated the Xbox controller is compared to the shouty PS5 controller. I prefer the symmetrical layout of the Dualshock though, as I play quite a few retro games.
